    Proud of you, buddy! 50+ watt FTP gain in two months is super impressive. But most importantly, you're enjoying the journey. And thanks for the shout out ;)

    Personal opinion from a guy who’s struggled life long with his weight. Diets don’t work, life changes work. If you can’t make the change for good the weight is going to come back. If you’re going to quit drinking, to lose weight, do it for good. You’re much better off losing 1-2lbs a week and keeping the weight off. Unsustainable diet and exercise that can’t be implemented for the rest of your life are only going to help you lose weight a little faster, losing and keeping it off should be the goal. I hope my comments don’t offend anyone, I’m just trying to share my perspective.

    • @B1KER
      @B1KER  Рік тому +1

      I 100% know what you mean dude. For me the no drinking is only to cut as many extra calories I can right now. I know how to maintain as well and you are totally right about it not being a “diet” and it being a lifestyle change. I try not to say diet but it’s a way people can understand what I’m saying without getting too wordy. Thanks for the comment 🤘

    Rob, your original series helped me gain the motivation to lose weight. I lost 60 lbs! 260 lbs to 200 lbs at age 20. I'm now 22 and gained 20ish pounds back. I'm still proud of my original work, but I want to push myself further. You've motivated me to start losing weight again! Aiming for 180 lbs this time. Thanks for the amazing inspiration you have given us all!

      Rooting for you! Look up coach Greg doucette, he’s hilarious and gives good advice. What’s helped me is doing more of the things you like that are healthy… like mountain biking. Sometimes it feels like cheating because I love it, and it helps me achieve my goals. Eat more healthy foods that you like, we all have at least one. Coach Greg always talks about losing weight slowly… the slower you lose weight the better. I’ve found this to be true because it’s more sustainable, you will hate the process less, and you’ll create a better lifestyle instead of temporary fixes.
      When I was forcing myself to go to the gym (which I hate), I’d reach my goals but always go back to my old ways eventually.
      Keep it up!

    I am so with you Brother. I went from 300lbs down to 227. I did it with a personal trainer, hitting the gym almost daily, monitoring what I ate and how much, and yes, biking (mountain and gravel). Then covid hit, a relationship with someone who wasn't supportive of my weight loss journey and I'm now back to 275lbs. I just got my own place and am excited to get back to riding and living healthy. I wish you continued motivation and success beyond your goal.

There's good days & bad days (sometimes weeks) where you might stall a bit, but don't let that derail you...stick to the plan & over time the progress will be evident. Your progress in just 2 months is ridiculous! Looking forward to the updates!

    Hey Buddy! Great to see you back on track man! I started the journey with you at the beginning, and also had a few set backs and one hard re-start, but managed to hit my goal of 30 lbs. It will be 2 years next month with no re-gain and I've set a new goal to go a little further! I owe it to you for the inspiration at the beginning and I'm here to cheer you on to get there too! Unfortunately, I'm probably not going to make it down to Sedona this trip. The slop doesn't seem worth it and it's been exhausting getting ourselves unburied up here in Flag, but I'll hit the trails with ya next year!

I'm sure that in the weeks that you didn't see the numbers on the scale, that you made gains in muscle mass to displace the fat loss. Too many years being overweight. Like you I carry most of it in my stomach and upper torso and it seems almost impossible to lose sometimes.

    I’m rooting for you dude! I’ve been watching you for a long time and I seriously relate to what you’ve gone through in your journey! I’ve documented my own weight loss journey and it’s like looking in a mirror watching you. I got distracted, got comfortable and I gained my weight back. I tried again and same thing happened and it’s 2 years later just like you (I don’t know how that happened but it’s kinda funny 😄) . I’m in the middle of documenting my new start to my weight loss journey and becoming a mtb race athlete! I want to be a fast and fit 190 lbs xc and enduro racer but I’ve recently started back at 270lbs. I think it helps that I like and don’t like getting my butt kicked in enduro and XC races because it lites a fire under my butt. I hate being beat so badly lol. My struggles are staying on top of my diet (importantly meal prepping for work so I can stick to my diet), working out consistently long term and balancing it all with a vary physical job and getting my whole life back together after a long period of hardship. It’s really great to see someone going through a similar path, I’ve watched your weight loss videos a couple times when I need encouragement when things get hard (especially recently).
    I’ve broken down in tears, dealt with and are somewhat still dealing with significant injuries, lots of personal life problems and just generally been having some rough moments because I have a fear that I won’t make it to my goals again. But watching you, sharing what I’ve personally have done, seeing what others are doing and seeing how far me, you and all of us have come and what could be ahead is worth it and awesome.
    Keep at it man. I know you will make more mistakes and maybe have similar set backs, but what really matters is how you come back and change and adapt from it. I know for a fact I’m not done, I’ve learned some hardcore lessons and I’m back at it better then before even though I know I will fail at something again and have to drag myself up faster then before. You gotta find something to think about that motivates you, grab onto something that makes you angry about something you don’t have now. use what you’ve learned about yourself and do your best to avoid the pitfalls you’ve faced so far. I’m saying this to you as much as I am to myself. maybe this will encourage you, Either way, I’ll be watching and joining the struggle buss! Can’t wait for your next video dude! Stay strong dude!

      @B1KER  Рік тому +1

      It's always awesome reading a comment like that. It's very easy to forget that the videos I am making actually impact people's lives sometimes. Thanks for the reminder. Also, best of luck on your journey! I'll tell you one that I didn't think when I stared. I thought I had to be 220 to be as fit as I was when I was 220 last time. As it is right now I'm still 30 lbs from my goal but am way stronger and faster than I have ever been.

I was really on track and got way down to a weight where I felt comfortable in my body but my main form of exercise was beating me up (running) and I kept fighting injuries. I have been off and on trying to get back on track and really need to get it going again. I started right after xmas and lost about 20lbs and then have been off and on with everything. I'm super impressed with you, your honesty and the accomplishment you made in just 2 months. How you're losing 5lbs a week is a mystery to me.
    My experience with hardcore diets has been, that they're incredibly effective short term, but not effective in keeping the weight off. I've struggled with bad habits my entire life and lost a bunch if weight a couple of times just to gain it back the moment my diet ended. Really the only way is to get on top off those habits/ cravings/ urges and stay in control. One way I found very helpful is to weigh myself daily in the morning. Not only do I get a feeling of fluctuations and trends, but it also affects my behavior during the day.

    I started watching your channel back in 2021 when I was also trying to lose a ton of weight through riding. I did just about everything wrong in terms of healthy sustainable weightless. I lost all the weight I needed to lose, but I also lost a ton of muscle and had no skills to maintain my weight, it was all just about "getting to the end". But two things it did do was you give me a love of cycling (mostly zwift), and the realization that just being thin does not make one healthy. Since then I gained back 40 lbs while staying lean at the gym, and maintain riding a few times a week with one of two century rides each summer.
    Watching your content made me feel like at least someone else was going through what I was going through, which got me through a couple plateaus and generally made the whole process a little easier. I don't have any videos to share, but I hope knowing that there's a lot of us who joined you on this journey, and continue to do so to discover better health can help in some small way with the fatigue. I really just did this with the bike alone for the video. I wanted to show people you could lose a bunch of weight at home without working out. I'll be adding in weights now that I'm done with that project. Funny thing about the cardio is I do so much riding my heart rate stays pretty low on the Zwift training. If you look at my Strava I will pretty much only be in zone 1 or 2 for the Zwift rides. Obviously the FTP test got me up there but otherwise it's at most barely into zone 3 on a hard push.

    Bro, dont get down, you're gaining muscle while riding so you're weight will go up. Same thing happens when I start hiking a lot. The legs build up heavy dense muscle pretty quickly. Stay with it and use a measuring tape on neck, waist, and quads and keep track of that. Also can try doing more low hr training as it utilizes fat for energy rather then glycogen. You're crushing it!
