I'm a huge fan of Trivium (since '05) but the people here saying this is their best live performance aren't noticing how much Nick was holding this band back. Matt, Corey, and Paolo are on the top of their game here, but this is a great show in spite of Nick. As with most of their shows with him, he is all over the place. While technically proficient, he often got off time and made it difficult on the rest of the band. The other members are extremely professional, and adjusted to Nick's mistakes without causing much disturbance. However, a drummer should be able to keep the time. I can see why they moved on from him.
Thank God I'm not a drummer, because I'd be pissed with my fav band's drummers,, apparently: Lars from Metallica, Arin Ilejay (ex-Avenged Sevenfold), and *every* Trivium drummer besides Travis.
Dave Daniel seems to me that if they were playing to a click this lineup would have worked a lot better. I've seen several videos where his main short coming is tempo on the older song. Of course now they have Alex Bent who is insanely good.
Matt was struggling A LOT with the vocals at this gig too, he basically screwed Black and Built to Fall and at the end he was pushing himself even more to keep up the screams he had at the first songs. Understandable why he blew up his voice, it took too long tho
I saw trivium in 2012 and had no idea who they were and didn't pay attention but then became a huge fan...and now I will never be able to enjoy my favorite trivium era live
Damn i feel you man, Im going to see them in october for the first and I've been a fan since 2005 so not gonna be able to see my fav era too cuz that was the Ascendancy time
yeah its a shame because his screams were fucking sick back then (best ever in triviums history), but his gritty singing voice was even better and thats what fucked him up. You only have to watch the 2011 chapman studio live stuff to see how much singing like that hurt him haha
Even with 3 Trivium albums under Alex’s belt now, this has to be the prime Trivium live show, excluding Nick of course. Matt’s voice was the best during this and some of VFs cycle.
Even tho many people dont agree, for me, Nick was the perfect fit, this was the peak of trivium, from 2010 to 2014 was their best, than, it got downhill pretty fast, its sad...
They play it more often than not now, personally there's several Ascendancy songs I'd rather hear but unfortunately it looks like Declaration is never gonna be played again :'(
With it being a metal festival. Unless a band is headlining they typically play all the hard hitting heavy tracks. Smaller gigs they seem to play a more varied setlist which makes sense with having more time etc
Nah I reckon this is more of their black album era, coz they were more mainstream, but some didn’t like it. Vengeance and silence are load and reload, coz, well... you know why
Vince Gedeon it goes like this 1. ALEX 2. Travis 3. Madiro 4. Nick A drummers job is t provide a beat to help keep everyone else in time, and nick couldnt do that, its the most basic task, he was the worst drummer
@@T233-l3e well I think nowadays his screams sound pretty good cause he's practising pretty much every day and he improved a lot on cleans and on screaming... In this video his hurting hiss voice and that's pretty horrible, it sounds good but it's so hurting

You’ve seen his new scream right?
@rjm_17 I have, sounds way better than the ibiraki style vocals but it doesn't have much range yet
@@lewisparkinson9990 I’ve got a pretty good feeling about Matt’s voice, just gotta give him a bit of time.
Matt's vocals are on another level here.
36:19 Corey's low growl here in Pull Harder makes me do the stank face every time. The man is a beast.
19:16 2011 corey was a monster
Brilliant performance, the In Waves era was undoubtably there prime and I’m
SO grateful I got to see them several time’s in that tour cycle

No his drumming was getting way better fast they should have kept him! He was the perfect fit they blew it imo
This performance of in waves is still the best i've ever heard from them...

Gunshot was amazing.
Marcelo Bassalo The Deceived was spectacular
Trivium at their best ( in live )
I agree
+kevin justome yea. the best live performance
Agreed.
+Vlad Avramenko check out their St Pete show in Russia from 2012, now THAT was best live performance
Lol.
If this is there best they must suck..
I've seen them do much better.
Trivium's best show, I really wish I was there for it...epic performance.
I agree, the only show I listen to repeatedly
Paolo is one of the greatest bassists of our time.
He’s damn good I agree but I will always put Ryan Martinie at #1, that man’s fingers are godlike with what he can do
The best version of Trrivium. Matt and Corey at their peak.well stuff the drums and Paolo voice.
Best Trivium performance to date.

Zach Piner not him they have someone to do that for them lol
Take a good look ladies and gentlemen. Trivium at their peak.
They are way better now
Energy wise, ok. Every other part is lacking

It's not trivium, it's Mats voice live. This is the grittiest it ever sounded

I miss Matt's screams and kinda scratchy voice, it sounds so much better than how it does now
+Anthony Monterosso He blew out his voice in 2014. He can't scream like that very much anymore.
+Cody Cameron yeah I know, I saw them this past October and he was getting better

If you look at Matt's neck here he's tense as fuck, that's what fucks you up. As much as he sounded good he was hurting himself
That's how you fucking end a concert
CHRSS111 You could tell Matt genuinely loved what he was seeing during Throes of Perdition
How come they don't play "Dying in your arms" live it was one of their biggest songs
Funny enough, Matt Heafy also said it was one of the most popular songs on ascendancy. Ironic how they only play it at small gigs.
yeah I just saw them back in October and they played it lol
