@@susanwedell7627 Someone from Germany here. I can't judge for Denkmark, but it's probably not much different. College and University are not entirely free. The education however is. It's written in the German constitution that Education for the most part shall be free. Universities charge a semester based fee of roughly 200-400€ to pay for administrative stuff and that usually includes a ticket to drive for free with public transport in the entire state you're studying in. The teachers are paid by the state. You are however not given a place to stay and live in, however a lot of companies hire students specifically so you won't need to worry about a job to earn money while studying. That money is usually spent on rent for a 1-room apartment. Alternatively you can apply for something called "BAföG" in Germany. In short, if you're an apprentice or a student, or even just a pupil, you have a right to be given up to 850€ a month by the state. Which usually covers all your expenses. This is to allow students and apprentices to truly focus on learning and educating themselves. Bafög however is by definition a "student loan", given to you by the state. You will only have to pay half of it back and there's no interest and you'll only have to pay it back once your income reaches a certain point. That way you're guaranteed to not be pushed into debt by it and only pay off the loan given by the state if you're truly able to.
I may have missed some details and it's definetly not the same in all of Europe. It's important to notice why Germany is not a socialist state entirely. After the war, our politicians decided that Germany will take "the third way". Which isn't communism, or capitalism, for us it was the social market economy (soziale Marktwirtschaft), which can roughly be described as "Socialist+Capitalist market", we're using the benefits of capitalism (free markets, liberal policies for companies) to fuel socialist policies for the people (every German is health insured, there is a minimum salary per hour, we have a security welfare net to keep you covered in between jobs and while studying and educating yourself). It does not protect us from capitalist greed though, as many stories of the past few years have shown. Which is why in Germany the market itself is also partially regulated (worker unions, quality protection laws, consumer protection laws). It's not a perfect system, but it's in my honest opinion, far better than the US. If I own 1€/$ in Germany or anywhere in the world, I am already richer than most US students, because they are in debt and I'm not. Richest country in the world, got billions for their military 'to protect the people' , but none for the people. Ridiculous.

@@LetsHaveSomeFunMyGuy I agree with you. Thank you for your detailed comment. That helps a lot. I moved to America from South Korea. I never had this much fear in my life until I lived in America. If you get sick or injured, your life could be finished unless you are super rich. My kid's college tuition include dormitory cost more than $70,000.00 a year. I was shocked and now my kid and I have huge debt already. Many Americans are basically hostages of the systemic broken system. I never realized how bad it was until I lived there. Bernie is winning now but he could have more support if media informs people with facts and focus on important issues and how other countries are doing. However, as you noticed, American main stream media is too busy to brain wash people with their own agenda. True journalism is long gone and helping the corruption with the help of untruthful politicians who took donation from the small interest groups who contributed the corruption. Fortunately people are getting more informed by researching things online or by books themselves. Bernie is our only hope in America. No politicians have a gut to stand up and fight for us. The key is though there are still so many people out there either brainwashed or not willing to listen or learn about what's going on. They seem to choose their candidates out of ambiguous assumption or impulsive emotion. Or simply some people choose non-Bernie because main stream media is framing Bernie badly. I hope good informed people will spread the truth more to other people. In order to change America, we need all Americans to stand up and fight with the corruption. BERNIE 2020

The value you get from the increase in cost diminishes the higher you climb the price ladder, and when your people have trouble sustaining themselves despite doing *exactly* what they are supposed to in order to pay for someone else's $100k TV, that just isn't right. 300 times a normal person's wage is well beyond what is reasonable. The last 100 times makes *no* difference to him, but that could make 500 people enjoy their life *a lot* more instead.

It either means you're too lazy to correct me or you actually believe his things will be free and you won't have to pay for it?! Let's state the facts, I actually do have a soft spot for Bernie and think the democrats are trying to screw him over again but his planned policies are going to cost a fortune. How to pay for healthcare? Taxes, taxes, taxes. How to pay for "free" college? Taxes, taxes, taxes. How to eliminate student loans? Taxes, taxes and more taxes. Denmark has the same "Free" stuff as Bernie wants to have and 65% of their paycheck goes to the government to pay for all this "free" stuff. Sucks to be them. It's funny how college kids say they want their loans wiped out, free healthcare and free college but when told how it's going to get paid for they sing a different tune and the biggest response I hear is "When I graduate and get a good job I want to be able to keep my money and it's not fair that I should have to pay for everyone else!". And to give illegal immigrants free healthcare, welfare and education at tax payers expense is wrong on so many levels - I can't believe all the candidates are supporting this! I feel bad for the immigrants who come here and go through the grueling process of becoming a legal citizen - it's a slap in their face. I wish Bernie the best but I don't know if his heart will be able to handle the stress of being POTUS. Having one heart attack already is not a good sign. God help us if AOC remains by his side! Or we could start asking corporations like Amazon who made $10 billion in profits and paid no taxes for them to do their share with tax revenue. If you paid attention, on more than one occasion Bernie has explained where the money would come from. Sanders is a lazy, deranged communist who is peddling nothing more than smoke and mirrors all the while ARDUOUSLY striving for the destruction of the greatest nation mankind has ever witnessed.
Here's the agenda of the DNC, the party Sanders has been affiliated with for decades :
      The 8 steps of socialism.
The first one is the most important.
      1) Healthcare - Control healthcare and you control the People.
      2) Poverty - Increase the Poverty level as high as possible; poor people are easier to control and will not fight back if the Government is providing everything for them to live.
      3) Debt - Increase the National Debt to an unsustainable level. That way you are able to increase taxes, and this will produce more Poverty.
      4) Gun Control - Remove the ability to defend themselves from the Government. That way you are able to create a police state.
      5) Welfare - Take control of every aspect of their lives (Food, Housing, and Income).
      6) Education - Take control of what People read and listen to - take control of what Children learn in School.
      7) Religion - Remove the belief in God from the Government and schools.
      8) Class Warfare - Divide the People into the Wealthy and the Poor. This will cause more discontent and it will be easier to take from (Tax) the Wealthy with the support of the Poor.
Anyone who can read this and say everything is fine with the democrat party is truly deluded.
The steps don’t necessarily occur in order, often occur in tandem, and don’t have a timetable. While they take time to develop, the rush at the end can be quite rapid.
All along the way, the power of government grows and rights correspondingly diminish. Often initiated by a seduced vote of the people, in time, socialism is maintained by force.
The Democrats will nail the coffin shut on the United States of America.
This article is a MUST READ for anyone considering wasting their vote on a 'Democratic Socialist':

      m.theepochtimes.com/nazism-fascism-and-socialism-are-all-rooted-in-communism_2549205.html
Some important statements from the above article :
"Socialism was described in Marx’s theory of the five stages of civilization. After he helped frame the concept of “capitalism” as a society in which people are able to trade freely, he proposed that after capitalism would come the stage of “socialism,” followed by “communism.”
"Socialism was the stage that Vladimir Lenin described as the “state-capitalist monopoly,” in which a dictatorship has seized control of all means of production."
"The policies of the Nazi Party followed the communist model and the 25-point program included universal free health care and education..."
Here's the current democrat proposals for healthcare reform :
      www.vox.com/2018/12/13/18103087/medicare-for-all-single-payer-democrats-sanders-jayapal
Here's the most important statement from the above article :
"They would all give the government a greater role in everything from setting health prices to deciding what benefits get included in an insurance plan."
      (step 1)
The lefts advocacy of lax illegal immigration enforcement allows enormous amounts of 'have nots' into the country and further widens the rift between rich and poor.
That rift, coupled with one of the lefts latest proposals, 'maginalized taxes,' might as well have been named 'Step Eight.'
      (step 8)
Our institutes of 'higher' learning have now been corrupted with instructors who extol the writings of Karl Marx and decry the 'evils of capitalism.'
John Dewey, a social democrat who was a major voice of progressive education and liberalism, went to Russia personally and came back extolling the virtues of Russian socialism. He was influential enough to mold the public school system still in force in America today. You can see the result of that massive failure.
      www.americanthinker.com/articles/2013/05/dewey_stalins_propagandist_the_worlds_teacher.html
And now the left wants to offer the poisonous filth of their 'higher education' indoctrination factories for free. Talk about your kool-aid....
      (step 6)
A quote which has been mistakenly attributed to Norman Mattoon Thomas, (November 20, 1884 - December 19, 1968) who was a leading American socialist, pacifist, and six-time presidential candidate for the Socialist Party of America bears note :
“The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of ‘liberalism,’ they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.”
      He went on to say:
“I no longer need to run as a Presidential Candidate for the Socialist Party. The Democratic Party has adopted our platform.”
The origin of this quote is more likely associated with Upton Sinclair, the noted American author best known for his 1906 muckraking novel The Jungle.
Sinclair who twice ran (unsuccessfully) for Congress on the Socialist ticket and ran (unsuccessfully) for the governorship of California as a Democrat wrote to Thomas in 1934 :
The American People will take Socialism, but they won’t take the label. I certainly proved it in the case of EPIC. Running on the Socialist ticket I got 60,000 votes, and running on the slogan to ‘End Poverty in California’ I got 879,000. I think we simply have to recognize the fact that our enemies (Republicans) have succeeded in spreading the Big Lie (that Socialism is bad.) There is no use attacking it by a front attack, it is much better to out-flank them.
      Democratic Socialist.
      Socialist Democrat.
      EPIC.
They're all the SAME thing : SOCIALISM !
And socialism is merely the stepping-stone from capitalism to communism.
This is how socialism gained a foothold in The United States :
      www.thetrumpet.com/15721-how-did-socialism-become-so-popular-in-america
This article was written in November 2018 :
      www.thetrumpet.com/17848-what-the-world-needs-to-learn-from-venezuela
"The U.S. and British people are proving to be unteachable."
This is an interview circa 1984 with Yuri Alexandrovich Bezmenov, a former KGB agent. You can also watch the interview on UA-cam :
      bigthink.com/paul-ratner/34-years-ago-a-kgb-defector-described-america-today

In Democratic Socialist countries, both socialism and free market capitalism co-exist in such a way that children have equal access to education(include college) no matter their income and the government provides a broad social safety net for services such as healthcare, public pensions, universal child care, generous maternity & paternity, strong unions for workers and etc.
The government is also encouraging entrepreneurship by providing a saftey net for those who start a business and there is few unnecessary regulations regarding running business while the wealth from the economy is being distributed equitably across the population by its advanced fair taxing system thus create a safer happier society which benefits both of entrepreneurs and workers.

@Jake - I don't suppose there was any marginally cogent point intended somewhere in your post, was there? Or, are you simply *Apologizing* for your Handlers' rigging of the US Tax code?
Are you trying to say that you think Bernie Sanders lied, or cheated, or broke some tax laws that nobody else but You seems to have found? Do you really think he would have released his Tax records if he'd cheated or broken any tax laws? Maybe you think he should have done like your ridiculous corrupt man child "Emperor [Trump, who] has no clothes" and dishonestly refused to release his Tax records?
Bernie Sanders is a good, honest, ethical man and a courageous leader, by example. Paying more taxes than you owe would be stupid. Bernie is good, honest and ethical; but he's not stupid!
Oops. sorry; did You pay more than you owed? Is THAT your point? Dang! sounds pretty stupid to me. Well, Trump did tell his Voters (now, his *Apologists)* that he "Love[s] the poorly educated".
It appears that you have simply regurgitated some of your Handlers' (aka Fox "news" Rush Limbo Sean Hannity Ann Coulter Laura Ingrown, et al) ridiculous Talking Points (taken, hook line and sinker; LOL!) instead of thinking for yourself.

In the “Land of the free” we have the highest % of incarcerates. In “The home of the brave” our Commander in Chief dodged the military service and had the audacity to smear the name of a real hero! #45 is a hateful individual who, like any conman, understands very well that if you divide the conquest is easier and, it’s not difficult to understand that the uneducated falls for his nonsense.
