It helped with my smoking! While observing instead of indulging, I also began remembering how bad I felt and how bad I looked because of smoking. It's much harder to control yourself with things that are technically good for you but that have morphed into an addiction... Like exercise or self-improvement. Neutral things like Internet or eating are REALLY hard too... I am struggling the most with controlling myself with those kinds of addictive/compulsive ways.

Hmm, I don't think so. I'm currently in high school, and more often than not, I find my friends going out to play games like volleyball, basketball, football, etc. Moreover, people my age would look for a free period to go out to play basketball after school and stuff. Even if you don't have friends to play with, such as myself, we find other sports. For example, I know someone who doesn't talk much or does anything with anyone, but he does fencing. I'm not well liked in my class, in fact, when we have a team sport and we are asked to make teams, I am the last one picked. But then again, instead of staying at home like what the rest of the world thinks we do, I go ice skating and play volleyball by myself. Most other schools as well do the same, the only reason why people think the opposite is because we don't go out just to talk since all that is accessible online. Otherwise, we all rather go out with each other to have fun.

I honestly feel bad about myself right now, I've been addicted to watching adult videos online for almost 2 years and everytime I've tried to stop it, i kept failing. This horrible habit has token a toll on me emotionally and psychologically as it distracted me from achieving my goals, it wasted my time and energy, my time to socialize with family and friends and has changed my perspective on women. I regret watching that first video all the way back in July or August of 2019 and i wish i had known of the consequences so that i could've avoided almost yrs of dealing with this addiction. I blame the internet and the media for all this.
Starting today (on 2/25/2021), i will seek help from Jesus christ to clean my sins, by getting on my knees and confess to the lord that I've done things and seen things i wish didn't and help me in my times of need to change who i am on the outside and inside. I want to change, i want to meet real people, have a positive outlook on life, get a real relationship with someone who has a heart and soul, and may i find a purpose in my life, i need god to change who i am.
"God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble. Submit yourselves, then, to god. Resist the devil and he will flee from you." James 4:6 and James 4:7.

About 2 weeks ago I heard of a new season in stranger things but at that point in time I had never watched a single season in stranger things, I gave it a try and was obsessed, one night I stayed up 8 hours and did absolutely nothing but watch stranger things, I didn’t eat, I didn’t go to the bathroom I just sat there watching it. I slept that night for about less then 6 hours and I the first thing I did when I woke up is pick up my iPad and watched 2-3 more hours of stranger things before breakfast, I watched it after breakfast, I filled my music playlist with songs from stranger things. Yesterday I finished all available episodes from all seasons and now I feel sick. I tried watching another Netflix series but I can’t last even 10 minutes without getting bored, I’d watch random stranger things edits, watch cast interviews, watch funny moments, ships, memes and so on I even tried re-watching it even though I know it’s wrong because I’m addicted, it’s literally exam season and I’m crying over a Netflix series. I even tried watching videos on peoples negative opinions on stranger things like season 4 being full of sin, but it’s like nothing helps.

@akibante Hey, I don't usually comment but I felt I had to. Listen don't cut yourself you don't have to do that bro. Instead, train your mind to have a greater level of discipline which Is a skill you can use throughout your life. The only way to solve this problem is to deep dive into your own mind. The only catch is that you have to be completely honest with yourself in order to change. Don't just look at the addiction look at what might be causing you to be addicted. Sometimes the truth hurts but you can recover from it. There will definitely be better days ahead and you'll only regret the scars later, so keep ya head up! I really hope this helps even a little bit seeing as I'm a stranger on the internet. Everyone struggles with something in life whether they admit it or not. I believe everyone can change and that includes you. You just gotta stay committed and be thankful even for the small things, I really hoped this helped even a little bit, keep ya head up!

Addictions are not the problem but rather a symptom. Treat the underlying problem if you wanna get away from obsessive behaviour. Depressions etc are usually a perceptional problem where a person thinks he has it harder then anyone else. When you realize how egocentric that view is you will clear yourself from depression. Im a 31 yo male who suffered from suicidal thoughts and depression all life and ive been good for quite some time now! I’m fighting a screen time one, it has gotten worse and has caused a downfall in mental health, and many other things, I’m aware of it, but it’s hard to stop, so I am trying to go out a little more each day, ride my bike, swing (I’m still young, I’m 11 to be exact) and I also have been working on my ukulele and my piano skills. It’s a hard thing, but it will make me better, and if I can work on myself, it will have a positive domino effect. I’m sorry that this got personal, but I want to help other people feel better about helping them selfs, with the society’s unhealthy vision of selflessness (well, at least to me because I’ve always been told to give yourself to others and try to hard to live up to it, and it has caused many unhealthy friendships where they just put everything on me and emotionally blackmailed me)
No need to like, please just help yourself and that will mean even more to me than online validation.

Daily Vitamins and supplements are nearly essential when trying to change in a positive way. But your motivation and desire to change comes first, always.
Another incredibly vital game changer is to occupy yourself with hobbies (even better, sports).., the more the better, and EXERCISE!!
The less familiar hobby/sport, the better! Be willing to try something new and if you realize it’s not something you enjoy, move on to the next hobby/sport.
Final friendly tip is to create a habit of reading, preferably old fashion ink and paper reading rather than online ‘eye straining’.

The body and mind are heavily clouded by addiction. One day you say I want to quit. Next thing you know a friend comes around with some drugs and offers you some. Repeat.

Thank you for sharing! I think this is a much better video for people with process addictions (addictions to activities and behaviors) than for people like us, with serious addictions to drugs. I am now in long term recovery, but was on hard and opiates for a long time, and didn’t think I’d ever be able to quit. I went to 5 treatments and the 5th was the charm but, at that point it was only because I was court ordered. I thought there was no chance. That treatment ended up having an excellent counselor who accepted and loved all of us, until we could do the same for ourselves. I went back to school and started taking classes on the psychology and neurobiology of Addictions, in an online college program. There, I learned all the things I needed to not forgive myself, because it’s not even about doing anything wrong. I strongly recommend “Biology of Desire,” by Marc Lewis, and “In the Realm of Hungry Ghosts,” by Gabor Mate. Both have talks on YT, but their books (avail. on Audible) are much better. I hope you find something that works for you. Idk if you’re in the US but, if so, the way they’re cutting everything with fentanyl now is so scary. I quit just when people started dying around me. I was very lucky. Keep your head up, my man, and never give up!

I just quit coffee, and cigarettes. It feels good having those out of my life. I quit gambling the end of 2018. I’ve quit weed about 7 times and when I quit that shut again I’m gonna really try to avoid it because it become a problem instantly and I start smoking everyday. I’m happier without coffee though for sure. I’m 30 now so I know I can’t keep battling addictions like I have most of my 20s.i think Facebook has hurt and the smart phone since 2014 for me. Just in my own little world and in my head to much. I’m legit about to limit smart phone use to only work hours. And when it’s home just put it in airplane mode and read books. The love and support is tough you gotta be careful who you tell your problems to thought be cause 80 percent don’t care and 20% are glad it’s you. You just gotta gain momentum stop procrastinating and actually do something different for a change.

i can help you, you need to eat a protein diet, low carbs diet, like eat chicken/meat with vegetables. no grains, no fruits, no sweets. try that for a day and see, but, your insulin level, is somehow high, so you need 2 months of this diet to lower your insulin, and stop craving sugar. eat several meals a day when you get hungry, don't eat snacks. and do 30 to 60 minutes of exercise a day, it will regulate your appetite

    *trigger warning*
i have a very strange addiction, which in retrospect is basically self harm . . .
so when i was 9, some things happened in my life and to cope, i cut the skin of my hand off . . .
the way i cut the skin off doesnt make me bleed, and it doesn hurt, but it has ultimately ruined my hands.
my hands are extremely sensitive and something as simple as opening a water bottle hurts . . .
the skin on my hands grow back and i begin to cut it off over and over again.
for the past 5 years (yes im 14, almost 15) i have been dealing with many mental health issues and my addiction is my was of coping, but i realize its impacted a lot of aspects of my life more than i imagined it would.
i want to stop, but im too embarrassed and ashamed to get help.
hopefully following the advice from this video will help me.
