I had a 87 cr and I loved it. I traded it for a LT230 quad that was perfect with the thicket roll bar you have ever seen on the back. I rode Willie's on that thing thru all 5 gears and from 1 thru 3rd if you flipped it that bar would keep you vertical. But I still wish I didn't do it.
Wow Joe at last you bought a bike that you did not have to spend hours on fixing it. That bike rips awesome. It's in mint condition so keep it. Cheers Dave from Port Elizabeth, South Africa.
For those that don't realize what they're looking at...this is a 1992. It absolutely IS rare to find a bike this old and in this kind of shape. Most were used, abused and tossed aside. Especially the 125's,they were geared more toward teenagers that just came up from an 80cc. I have an 01 kx250 in this shape,MAYBE a little nicer if that's even possible, and that's only because it was ridden 5 or so times and put away in November of 01 when i bought my raptor. Your bike is classand SICK!!!! Keep it👍
Check the oil before you bring it home. That’s almost number one thing to do before buying bike. Am I wrong. I know it’s clean but that’s what gets ya, ya tell yourself it’s to perfect no way something is wrong. Your lucky. But seller seemed true to his word. Congrats. That’s the best colors for these
i'm 74 y. o. now, but back in the olden days i used to race motocross for about 10 - 15 years, and believe it or not 511 was my AMA issued racing number, when i saw this video i felt the need to share that story with you. PRETTY COOL, HUH.
@user-cr7lv5nm9r 3 months ago Crazy thing, I bought and raced a brand new 92 YZ250 with the same color way in 92. Crazy part is that my AMA racing number was 511! Should have never sold that bike. I just bought a 87 RM 125 yesterday, let the madness begin. So glad I found your channel a few months ago. This is my first bike and I'm absolutely stoked. I'll be watching regularly.
This was the last brand new bike I owned. I bought it in '88 as a leftover for $2200. These days, 125s are damn near five times that amount. It was an all top-end screamer with the best suspension available at the time. Handling was a bit weird with a disjointed feeling between the front end and the rest of the bike, but once you got used to it, it wasn't a big deal. A couple of years later, I bought the 1989 RM 125, and wow, what a difference.
Nice buy! All dirt bikes should sound like that! One hint, if you want very a more accurate compression test there are compensation tables for temperature, elevation and even barometric pressure. So unless you live at sea level expect as much as 5 psi low. But that’s about the most variation you’ll see in most cases.
These Era yz125s where the reason why the term...."yamadog" was coined as the census at the time said that the 91 and 92 yzs just made alot of noise but didn't really go anywhere, and "it couldn't get out of its own way" was another common one,....but one thing they said it did do was handle and turn and suspension was dialed in and it was chalked up to a few things like the expansion chamber was to long for the proper tuned length and I thinknthe powervalve design hindered the upcoming charge by deflcting it so they also said it would seem to run rich and boggy down low , but clean up considerably when the Revs were applied...MAKING IT SEEM LIKE a jetting issue but was really a bad design choice so def great for a beginner for sure as it's hard to get hurt but it's handling and stability was the best it had ever been so it is a thoroughly forgiving bike if anything else....
See....now this kind of seller is the best.A straight shooter with no BS stories.Fires it up without you asking.Nothing to hide.None of this um....ahh...awe um....well um....oh i think crap.
What a great bike!! Take that thing to a good place to ride and let’s see it in action!! I sure miss my 76 yz when I was 14. Best time I ever had riding that thing.

I don't understand. And I've said something about it 20 times. All I see is straightaway racing back and forth. And just so damn thirsty to get to the throttle. Never seen anyone with such a blipping addiction.@@jasonm3835
I remember late 70s you could buy a 2 year old 125 for about $200.00 I bought a 1980 RM 80 that was about 3 months old with about 2K of mods done for $500.00 - After about 6 months they were basically throw aways, no longer competitive when the next model year came similar to what computers when through in the late 90s. Amazed at the longevity a 30 year old bike doesn't look that much different than a new bike.
I have a mate that's in his 40's and rides a 125, we all make fun of him for it. But seeing you rip this bike, I'm looking on market place for one right now 😂
I had one exactly like this in 1995, it was a 92, the header pipe isn't original but everything else looks oem. Yes it will rev high to warm then idles normal. Back then everyone called it a girly bike with pinkish color, I think Yamaha only did this color for 2-3 years because of the feedback lol this is what happens when someone takes care of their equipment

My buddy showed up at my house Christmas morning in 1991 on this very machine brand spanking new. I was 15 years old and this is still my favorite Yz to date.
It sounds a little rich on the pilot and or the beginning of the needle circuit and possibly a little lean on the main. Hold the throttle wide open in neutral for a few seconds to check the main. It should four cycle at no load at high rpm's.
Beautiful bike in amazing condition. It sounds to me like it is running a bit too lean. Thank you as always for the great videos. I appreciate the detail and you no nonsense methodical approach. Enjoy!!!
Wow that’s so cool im currently waiting on my 2000 yz125 to be done the bottom end was toast and the whole motor is out of the bike at a mechanic that’s taking forever to work on the thing hopefully it will be done soon

I have a1992 yz 125 with vforce reeds and a pro-circuit pipe. It had been raced before i picked it up and runs well with new tires. The previous owner was a pro mechanic and kept it well. I have to say that 1992 yz125 was the bottom rung compared to the other 3 main motoX bikes, but still capable in the dirt. I dont like the ride height- too high for me to be comfortable.
Good thing us Aussies are not into drinking games because if we took a shot every time you say "real quick" or "right there" we would never make it to the end of any of your videos. Great find by the way.
That is one nice bike, looks all original to me what a find! Low hours for sure, the crank case isn't even worn with boot marks. All they did was add a aftermarket pipe I think.
Great find. Sweet ride! Keep it and enjoy it, teach the wife to ride it, can be a pain but I did that with my wife she can boogie on one. Just awesome Son!!!!
Question... Why don't you check for milky oil before buying? It seems like a quick thing to check and an opportunity to negotiate the price down if there was a problem.
When you open a vernier gauge like you have, the rod that slides toward the palm of your hand can be used to accurately measure the depths of things like holes, height of float valves in carburettors etc. It extends out the same amount as that shown on the lcd screen.
