- Eric Moore is best known as the former drummer for Suicidal Tendencies and Guitar Center's 2003 Drum Off Champion. From 2004 to 2008 he toured with Sly & The Family and R&B icon Bobby Brown, both of which being Grammy award winners. As a big contributor to the gospel chops movement, we knew Eric would be more than capable to do this lesson justice.

#EricMoore #Drumeo #LiveLesson
He played more notes in this video than I've ever played in my entire life!
I can't say I agree man ._. he shreds but geez I've been playing speed metal for a long time lol
Eric Shaw ok and?
Ha ha very true
Nailed it hahahaha
It's not how many notes you play but how the notes fit in the song. I have played drums all my life and played many places. And in most of those places people don't give a shit about flash just how good the band sounds!
My drum teacher used to say you can achieve speed through relaxation. Meaning the harder you try to play fast the more you will tense up and the slower you end up playing. Only by relaxing will you achieve real speed. He would have loved Eric Moore!
That’s why I love push/pull and heel toe
It's safe to say.... This guy is on a whole different level.
a ho nevva levva
0:52 mariokart
Extracted Beats you mean a whole different planet! His playing is not of this world!
agree.
He been like this since his teens
This had to be one of the Top 3 Drumeo Lessons. Inspirational & refreshing.
cant agree more
indeed!
What would be the other two for you? I would like to watch them.
+sammy sabbah Sonny Emory, Tony Royster Jr, Benny Greb, Jason Bittner.
THEUNHINGEDSANITY I would put Matt Gartska and Billy Rymer up there.
Holy crapjacks!! Half of Eric Moore is missing! I hardly recognized the brutha. PS. Whoever tuned that kit should run for president.
Rob Brown hey it's you! And hey- you have quite the weight loss story as well! :)
Rob Brown hell yesssss. That set sound sexy as hell. Exspecialy that first tom
Yea, and whomever lost him in the mix on that first song should be deported.
Aquarian heads help a lot!
Amen brother!!
The best thing about this lesson is Eric's overall attitude. His playing is beastly, but if you're a good drummer with a bad attitude then that negates everything. Eric is super personable, which makes him that much better
Mike Caputo I cosign that statement 💯 percent, I am taking up drumming just as a hobby, and this Guy has me so motivated, interested, and comfortable being new to this great form of Artistic expression!!
Truth this guy is an amazing human
HELLO
Indeed
This is one of the best sounding drum kits I've ever heard
Logan Dacosta those are jareds drums.
any tips ti get this tone ? I'm pretty sure it's head and tuning
Toms are singing!!!!
I’ve been playing drums since I was 11 years old. I’m now 50, and am ready to play again. I had to put down my gift for the last 10 years because of raising my children. This video has even further inspired me to get great at my instrument again, even at my age!
Thank you Eric for inspiring me to get back on the horse again. Your playing is phenomenal!
Congratulations! You’re going to fall in love with playing drums again! I had to leave the kit for several years and came back stronger than ever. I also picked up the guitar, which is a whole new world of awesome!
“The secret to life is enjoying the passage of time. Love the space between the notes!” -Billy Hart, drummer/drumming innovator-
Dude, I've recently done the same. I stopped playing for 10 years and at least for me it was insane how hard it is to relearn. I was so bad at first. If you stick to it it'll all come back over time but man it's rough at first. Though tbf I only had 10 years experience before I stopped so maybe you'll have an easier time since you had a lot more experience than me before stopping but it was shocking to me how bad I was at so many simple things on the drums after not playing for so long
Oddly I could still do RL RL Tom and double bass fills super easily still but so much other stuff, ugh, so rough. I'm just glad I'm now close to catching up with my old self
This is awesome! Can't wait for you to get back on it!
How has your practicing been going these past four years?
Serious props for bringing the positivity Eric! Good vibes all day from Team Drumeo.✌️
Hey! Adam 😀
He makes me want to quit and get better all at the same time haha. Too good
Watching Eric Moore makes me want to play even more
TY EVERETTE You mean he makes you want to play even Moore*?
@@bg357wg HAHAHA WHATT NOICE PUN😂😂😂
Rather humbling. Inspiring too.
and I just bought an e-kit too! 🤬😤🤨,, but, I’m 65 years seasoned, and I’m gonna be patient and study these great videos,, and when I’m 130, yep! Watch Out!,, I ain’t got time ta play!!!!!
This is a clear example of God puting talent on the right hands! Eric is so driven, so motivated, so gifted and so humble! I could watch this guy talking/playing all day! Lucky those who work/live with this guy everyday!
ye he is gifted.... right now because he worked hart to get to this point nobody has an instant super talent so that he can play everything, even he had to work hard to get to this point he is now, but ye youre right thx to him we all can make improvements.
He just knows how to motivate people with his chill and always positiv art
"god" had nothing to do with that, it's just hard work
Ask Eric himself, he'll admit it's God that gave him his amazing talent.
God doesn´t exist, he is like this because of hymself
That's your opinion. But perhaps you should first research, before stating something like this...
My favourite part is the whole video.
Especially the part, the whole video!
I love how much he loves other drummers. Also he is a great example of being able to learn something from anyone and how he aims to continue to grow even though he is one of the greats. It is inspiring to me!
Me too!

Convidem bateristas brasileiros. (Eloy Casagrande, Aquiles Prirster, Kiko Freitas, Bruno Valverde)
Favorite part was the solo at the end and his super positivity. What's his snare tuned up to?
#nicksmith please
+Drumeo I'm sure this has been asked a lot, but are you guys thinking of getting Matt Halpern up there?
Eric Moore is the most mind blowing drummer I've ever seen! Makes me want to practice ten times more than I do!
I love how Eric addresses the camera/audience like you're just hanging out and being personal. Friendly, receptive, very giving and open to sharing his amazing talents in such a humble way. Then he'll melt your face off with the biggest smile you ever saw!!
INSANITY!!!! Ive been waiting for this for literally about 3 years
same
+AirDrummers Haha same here :)
+AirDrummers "literally"? like, exactly? You've been counting the days minutes and seconds and wrote the comment at LITERALLY 3 years on the mark??? DAMN! thats impressive
+Mighty Ox key word there *about*
Yessir Exactly that!!!
"If you can hear it, you can play it" this is incredibly true.
+demonic sweaters Yes, I was going to make the same comment! :)
Trouble is, if you can here it, 'a lot of those hi-hat notes he's isn't really playing. 😉
The drum solo in the end... I still can't believe my eyes and ears... This is one of the best drummers I have ever seen, and I've seen a lot of them!
Probably one of the best and inspiring lessons I have ever seen. It is not just the impressive level of playing, but Eric is just a joy to look at and to listen to.
Couldn't agree moore!
His personality is what makes so much difference, he is just all passion and joy for drumming, so much positive energy. PS: You guys at drumeo have been doing such a great job with your channel, a big thumb up! Thanks!
I love when he was talking about how it's not about the sticking and the part about technique (we have to find our own technique) so good!
I could watch Eric Moore play drums all day. This is definitely one of my favorite lessons on this channel.
Eric Moore - You are one of my top 3 drummers ever. love your style and your speed. You are one of the drummers that helped me get started. Amazing
I started guitar at a very young age, stopped playing when I was 13 I think, I don't know why but when I was 15 I started drums, it was a hole new experience and I loved it, as if it was drifting lol, you use everything and its crazy
I'm now 17 and I know this is what I'm gonna do for the rest of my life
Eric Moore I'm a big fan
His humbleness almost surpasses his playing and that's admirable. He makes everything so relatable whether his talking to a newbie or a seasoned drummer. Respect!
i love his energy and attitude. humble and willing to share and not stuck up
how can the best drummer in the world be so humble and inspiring... Thank you so much I loved it !!!
Thank you so much for posting this! I played drums when I played drums in high school and stopped at 20. I am now 44 and just started again, but was afraid that I was too old to learn. You specifically addressed this topic and made me feel confident that it's never too late to start! Thank you so much for re-inspiring me!!!
Eric Moore - Losing Weight & Building Muscles With Suits On (FULL FITNESS LESSON)
Man this guy is sooooooo good! I love his joy for drumming, its so damn contagious! After watching this I felt so inspired and ready to put some hard work into getting comfortable soloing and filling around the kit. I freakin loved the part where Eric explained how technique is used to make you feel more comfortable, not hamstring you! Thanks Eric for re-inspiring me and God bless :)
He has the best vibes and energy. Seriously.
Seriously, can never get enough of that play along with Anthony Burn's track.
Ever since he started his weight loss journey, his enthusiasm for drums and life itself has skyrocketed. It is truly infectious in the best way possible, thanks Eric!
The heart and the love Eric expresses inspires i.e. breathes life into the beats.
Amazing vibes Eric! One of the best drummers nowdays
One of the finest, most musical drummers ever, with a joyous heart and gratefulness that comes from knowing the Lord. Anointed in every context!
Thanks for reminding us that behind every drummer lies a human being. Our love and kindness for other people should be as tight as our grooves.
Great lesson!
"Dude are you SERIOUS ?"
"yeah bro !!"
"DUDE ARE YOU SERIOUS !?"
"It's DRUMS BRO!!"
"It is DRUMS!"
"It's drums bro, this is DRUMEO"
😂😂😂😂
@Percuss hahaha it's funny reading this, then seeing how happy they are
hahahaha fuckin amazin solo
BRO!
I just love his passion and the way he describes playing. Instead of technicalities and sticking, he speaks of it from a more artistic stand point. Major Props!
Man, Eric Moore has some serious energy and enthusiasm! Not to mention a great sense of humor. The dude just loves drums and he exudes such a deep passion for it. I'm so glad I watched this and thanks for having such an inspirational and talented drummer on Drumeo!
Eric Moore is such an phenomenal drummer and person. I love the inverted para-diddles combo. I'm definitely going to incorporate that into my playing. Thanks! Keep up the great work health wise also. You inspire me and sure many others to get our health back into shape also.
Super positive on drumming!!!! Love the positivity.
I keep coming back to this vid in particular, out of all of them. Eric is so amped! His character and attitude is 100% stoked, and he's got great advice on how to just keep making things happen on the drums, whatever level you're at. Love it. Keep up the good work with all these great drummers, Drumeo!
How can anyone dislike this guys enthusiastic approach to drumming? I'm an older drummer but he makes me want to dig in deeper. Great segment Drumeo!
Best part of this lesson is that huge energy he´s sharing with all of US around the world! Thanks a lot for this!
I had to crack-up at Dave's reaction. I was reacting the exact same way! Laughing and smiling through that whole first song and solo and then put my hands up on my head exactly the same way when Eric was done! :D
Eric, that was just incredible! Enjoyed it a ton. You came across as a truly great person and drummer. Thoroughly enjoyed your gift and learning from it. Keep up the great work, young man!
Eric Moore. We love you to man. What a gift to music.
thank you for being humble enough to share your gift
Dude. This man played with infectious grooves. He is now my idol. More than my dad.
Wonderful to hear Eric talking about drums being a language that every person who plays the drums can speak, as beginners and as professionals :-) That is solidarity - there is hope in the world!!!!
It's all about the Love brother. Thanks for the speedy chops.
This is the best thing I have seen in my entire life. Hard working, dedication and humility is the key to succes in life.
Eric Moore man i love your energy!!! Keep giving back bro you never know who your blessing with your gift.
The attitude and energy of this guy is just amazing I love every second of this lesson but the intro tune definitely is my favorite part of the hole lesson :)
Thanks for shouting out older drummers getting back to something they've loved. ERIC, you are an inspiration. I am working on making my kick foot sweet and working on complete separation of limbs. It's starting to happen and I am blowing my own mind. Timing is key. The metronome is so important. Thank you guys. Much love to Drumeo.
I've never heard drums sound so soft and soothing, there's no harshness at all. I'm only in the intro, but this is really incredible.
Eric more for me is one of the most if the the most inspirational drummers that i have followed for years. The thing i loved about this video is how down to earth and eager eric is towards drumming, teaching and the drumming community. Eric inspired me to practice and work hard to get results out of drumming and I literally love the man as ive learnt so much from him back in the days with mike johnston were i heard about eric. To see him finally on drumeo is something truely special! Not just a fanominal, inspirational and positive drummer but a hero to me and true man of god. God bless you eric moore and thank you for everything!! p.s amazing work with the weight loss you look amazing!
I've been following/being inspired by Eric Moore since 2008... I'm SO GLAD you got him to be at Drumeo!
Great lesson, fun to watch and so inspiring. It's great being reminded that single strokes, paradiddles and inverted paradiddles can sound THAT amazing when practiced over and over till brought to high speeds. My favorite part of this lesson is that, despite Eric's unbelievable ability to play the way he plays and blow us away every second, he always brings the 'human' side and humbles himself. From minute 57:27 - 58:40 he basically reminds us how no matter where we've reached in our drumming journey or how much we may have accomplished, we have to always remain teachable. That really spoke to me. Thanks Drumeo and Eric for another great lesson! Regards from a Venezuelan living in South Africa.
I just discovered Eric for myself about a week ago, and I already find myself trying so many new things on the drums. Even though I often don't succeed with what I am trying it feels so good to have all this new inspiration.
love this guy! very insperational and loving. this guy speaks to everyone that plays drums in the most possitve way and exciting way possible!
Eric Moore is an absolute god. Truly amazing. Looking forward to the time when I can do what he does!!
7:09 His signature stuff, very recognizable
Humility , respect, and sharing unconditionally is the blessing . Thank you eric for sharing your talent and life with us. Peace Brotha!
I wish he was my neighbor. I'd be so happy every day!
That would epic!
No way bro I wish he was MY neighbor!!!Well I guess there’s room we could all 3 be neighbors!!
@@jubankta1627 works for me!! Tell Eric, bbq at my place...
Bruh I'd be shedding in my house if he was playing
Still watching religiously in 2019!
2020 also
I love this guy so much. Everyone talking about moelar technique, full strokes, down strokes.....give me a break. If it works it works. I love how this guy understands that. Such a fun guy too. Total rockstar.
This is the best lesson I’ve ever had. And I’ve had a lot of amazing lessons from some amazing drummers. Thanks Eric and thanks Drumeo
This dude just became one of my favorite drummers been watchin a lot of hes videos what a positive and talented human being much love bro 👍🏽
I think I'm in love with this man
He his literally my favourite drummer, inspiring me to be the best i can, love you man💯🙌🏾🙌🏾
This man is such an inspiration. So positive, encouraging and down to earth. What an amazing drummer!
This is definitely a huge drumming! My total respect to Mr.Eric Moore. Really inspiring. One love from Brazil!
I love Eric's enthusiasm in the way he teaches! I'm super inspired after seeing this lesson. Thanks Eric! Thanks Drumeo! Keep up the amazing work! :)
Great lesson my favorite part is when Eric talked about sticking, and that you don't have to have the same exacting sticking just listen to it and play what you hear. Thanks Eric!!!! You inspire me so much . #inspired
Yep. It's also fun to try and play the same ideas with different stickings. Just train and trust your ears!
This guy is an inspiration to never stop drumming. I hope to be this good some day. Thank you Drumeo.
My favorite lesson on Drumeo, I swear!! Eric is such an awesome guy!
I love Eric's playing! I've followed him for years. his hands are AMAZING! I really appreciate his humble spirit. And he loves God too! Much love bro!!
That speed though!!! Mindblowing
seriously, that man has so much passion and love for drums, its so contagious! What an absolute legend he is!
He's pretty much mastered drumming, what can't he do?! Amazing
liked how much he cares for drummers and keeping it positive when playing drums
Wow the Holy Spirit coming thru your playing. I think it's so awesome that you unapologetically speak of Jesus and give Him glory. I also like how you talk about being able to balance a family life and be a career musician. This was just a perfect example of drumming being an extension of one's personality. Very inspirational! Thank you for having him drummeo. Hope to see more of ...Moore ! God bless!
damn, when he said that he didn't know anything about drums but loved the instrument, it encourages me a lot. heck i never had anyone teach me anything. when I was little I found a pair of drumsticks left at school and just brought it home. listened songs and just went random smashing in the air. eventually I taught myself really amazing combos and beats using my laps as practice pads (i can't even feel a pain anymore after years of just plying on my laps). Note that i was still in 4th grade, I never played a drum set in my life until last year that I became a college student. and that was only once, it just happened that we hanged out on a studio. we decided to jam out, me wanting to play the drums so much and considerig it was my first time, I paid for the whole hour. we played highway to hell and I nailed it soo good. my years playing on my laps paid off.
Such a lovely person. can't help but smile watching and listening to this guy
Sick!!!!
I think the backing track should be a little bit lower in volume...or turn up the drum track vol.
I agree. And they do it to all drummers they have on drumeo.
They don't even pay attention to the constructive criticism either from others that hear the same obvious problems!
Which gum is Eric chewing?
+chanyoungchik 5
+chanyoungch dennis chambers chews gum when he plays too
+chanyoungchik Yeah, Iain's right, it's the Wrigley standard 5s with slightly added synthetic gum base for more pressure resistance per square millimeter. Eric mentions in one of his interviews that he tried the Trident Chambers, but they didn't provide enough bounce for the amount of pressure his jaws were putting on them. Kept his chewing more behind the beat than he preferred.
+ZaiMedia Thanks for the reply. I think I've seen Aaron spears chew a Wrigley's 5 in 5/4 in a Vic Firth video, and I was amazed by his metronomic jaw action. In my opinion, Eric chews more pocket this video, while Aaron uses the swivel jaw motion being a little more chop based. I guess it all comes down to personal preference and musical taste.
+chanyoungchik Haha, brilliant! :)
Hands down absolutely the best drum lesson vid & tutorial I have ever watched! Not to mention from one of the top drummers in my book in the world
@Eric Moore you are always insanely fast but that roll you start @ 3:09 is next level!!
Eric and Thomas are my favorite 2 drumeo
when he yelled "Hadouken!!" I lost it. xD HAHAHA
Eric seems like a genuine awesome dude. Thanks for having him.
I love this guy! He's an inspiration!
Great lesson, Awesome Drummer! Drumeo moving on up. Need a lesson with Chris Coleman though lol
I can't believe he does all that in that coat.
Buddy rich did all that n more with a suite
This was so inspiring! Thank you so much Eric and Drumeo for the lesson! Such a great guy, monster drummer!!
This lesson is super helpful. i was really inspired and i must say that I've improved so much after watching and practicing the lessons in this video. Thank you Drumeo for this opportunity
Eric Moore is my hero literally so amazing 💯💯🔥
What's more impressive is how much weight he lost! What an inspiration.
Just looked him up and dang! He seems like such a good guy
This guy has so much energy. Its refreshing and exciting. THIS GUY LOVES HIS DRUMS!!!!! Respect
I like how he explains his visión of the music and his pasion is contagious
