    I have this shifter kit installed. park , reverse, neutral and OD work fine (it automatically shifts thru all the gears fine so I don’t think the transmission is hurt) . But for some reason I can’t manually shift gears (1,2,3) it just stays in OD. It used to work fine

      @@CaMBeRKiD45 Does the cable still move the transmission lever on the side of the transmission? Could be out of adjustment and out of range.

    I have the shifter installed, bolted to the lower bolts had to make the same kind of bracket for the top bolts, the problem I’m having is the shifter indicator seems to be sitting to high and I can’t get the indicator cover to sit flush, the shift is tight to the floor, the cover plate is down flush on the console, I don’t get what is wrong.

      Is the little "brass arm" in the slider? If the slider has the brass arm in it should sit flush. Let me know if you can't figure it out.

    Where does the plastic sleeve go on the cable

    how did you connect the reverse wire?

    • @MrStangdawg
      @MrStangdawg  4 місяці тому

      The slider piece is what gives you the gears. As you move the shifter it moves the little LED light for the appropriate gear

      @@MrStangdawg okay I am fully aware that the LED light indicates to me what gear I am in that was not my question. What I am trying to do is connect the reverse wire on a new aftermarket head unit for a back up camera

    I'm having a problem with my bm hammer shifter going put the stock shifter back in because everytime I pull up on the lock out it's not smooth it's a rough pull

    • @MrStangdawg
      @MrStangdawg  Рік тому

      If it's rough to shift then it's likely you need to adjust the cable at the transmission OR you have something interfering with the shifter. Make sure the plastic console cover isn't hitting something.

      @@Mattys91gt That's strange as the level is just held on by the cotter pin and then the spring keeps tension on it. Did you take the shift boot off to see why it would be binding?

      @@MrStangdawg is your cable different then mine it's a ATP product from lmr and it's the mounting bracket it has the 2 nuts that bolt near the transmission and when I put that on or should it get bolted on last it's my first mustang sorry all the questions

    • @MrStangdawg
      @MrStangdawg  Рік тому +1

      @@Mattys91gt my cable was a used OEM/Ford shifter cable but the LMR one should function exactly the same. It's easiest to bolt on the bracket first, then connect the cable to the shifter and then to the shift linkage on the transmission.
      Try attaching but not fully tightening down the cable to the transmission shift lever and see if the cable needs adjustment. The shifter should not bind the only reason it would do that is if you have the shifter cable out of adjustment on the transmission. Watch my video again as I cover that about making sure the shifter can go into park easily.
