While he does have an emphasis on compassion, what matters is Church teaching. If a Pope makes theological error in teaching faith in morals it is a theological contradiction to the infallible teaching of Vatican I and that causes people (like myself) to believe the Roman Church has been in error since the schism and that the Orthodox Church has been the true Church in continuation. Most priests nowadays are uneducated in theology, particularly in regards to the Church Fathers who are the foundation in interpreting the Gospel. There is such a crisis that Mother Teresa, a recent saint in the Catholic Church that everyone knows, who was greatly compassionate, but taught and believed a great heresy, the same heresy Vatican II taught, that people in other religions are fine with their other religions and that their god or gods are ultimately the Trinity. That is why the Pope has no problem being apart of pagan ceremonies. It's the greatest heresy of the ages and it's taught by the Church itself.
Pope goes against what the Bible teaches. Mary is not to be worshipped or venerated. The dead saints can’t hear our prayers. The pope is not a representation of Christ on earth. He is not the authority. Jesus is!

I think it should be pointed out that Catholics are Christians. They don’t worship the pope as a God. You don’t have to agree with their theology, but try to understand it before you criticize it. Catholics would say “the Church” (with a capital “C”) was established by Jesus in Matthew 16:18, when Christ named Peter as the first pope.
