This drywall finish used far more Scotland it was designed to dry out quicker than plaster as far colder up here lack site heating etc in the day. Also timber frames used far more up here again due to poor weather and joiners advise to drywall finish to avoid introducing too much water/dampness to build/timber kit as plaster dries out.
I just strained the bits on some 10 yr old paint today and it came out perfect, only issue was it's damn messy straining it with an old onion bag. Gotta wash pva off my hands now
How on earth is 3 days enough to paint an entire house? Surely that ain't enough, no wonder tradesmen are cutting corners and only 1 coating everything
Had the same in the run up to Xmas from a certain builder that starts with P and ends with N .every plot a total shower of shit, when spraying the emulsion brought in the woodwork too😆 gloss covers a treat on white mully 👍
@@U.S.Government exactly mate, 3 days to paint a new build ? What a joke. I'd be charging at least a week for the walls & a week for w/work, take it or leave it!
i never use dulux sealer mark for tape jointing, i love wickes own plasterboard sealer its like milky water and spray it on also. no sealers should have any kind of lumps. dulux misstake and wickes price 10ltrs £45 dulux must be £70 upwards
Thank good video, Question what is the best paint to use on my cellar walls, always dry so don't won't to cause problems in my house that has no issues. Looking for good cheep breathable paints with a low SD figure, sure that will mean more to you than amateur me who found out this is the measurement number.
Don’t get why you are priming the walls ? Should be down to the taper and jointer Also why can’t you spray ? Strange quicker , better finish , more solid
Johnstones is the same at the minute I’m blaming it’s been sitting on a shelf over covid and skinning up. Tell the wankers you’re not using it. Just super latex it.
I use no nonsense bare plaster paint for plaster and drywall, never had any issue with it, 27 quid for 10 litres, only issue is it’s gone up in price 8 quid in a year
Yeah same, been using Johnston's since the summer, they've stepped up their game recently. I did an exterior with their smooth masonry back in the summer because there was a Johnston's trade centre right near the job, didn't have massive expectations but it was lovely stuff so i decided to try their paint for next few interior jobs good stuff. Only complaint i'd have was the water based satin, was drying almost as quickly as you put it on but got around it running a damp sponge and turns out nice.
I don't buy that anymore for cost reasons and it's changed. My solution was buying 5 liters of gunwash thinners at £15 and topping up the little bottle works fine 👍
If you have the big brush mate, on the fluid bottle label it says clearly, contains cancer causing ingredients, everytime you open it you breathe the vapour and it leaks out into your van as well. I use the go paint store and go, not as convenient, you have to scrape the gel off but it's a water based gel with no odour.
@raggamuffin frank so the brushes just sit in the gel?, does it come off easily enough, in my early days I used to just put the brushes in a kettle filled with water, worked a treat
@@nelzy86the brush and roller's on a hook suspended in the gel, just need to scrape off gel back into pot, I just use a cloth or some blue roll to get the last off the roller, so far so good, £20 for the small bucket kit and £13 for the gel refill 👍
Don't need to necessarily, depends on roller head you use, if you use a Mohair roller, you don't need to lay it off with brush and leaves a beautiful almost sprayed like finish.
I would have still strained it Mark , the time it takes to do that still got to be a lot quicker than picking shit out of it every minute.

Dulux Fast Matt. My favourite paint. Good on drywall.
What no primer
Get a trade matt, thin out 40%water, job done 👍👍
Someone recommended that for mist coat on new plaster, just the same on plasterboard?

Down here in kent they are giving you three days to paint new builds
And people wonder why the standard on new builds is going downhill quicker than Franz Klammer.
How on earth is 3 days enough to paint an entire house? Surely that ain't enough, no wonder tradesmen are cutting corners and only 1 coating everything
May I ask what kind of price are they giving for that?
Is it 2/3/4 bed?

tikurila ar2 is getting lumpy now as well. was pretty smooth when i first started using it.

people take the piss out of wickes brand but i use their ultra matt on rentals all the time its affordable and the opacity is hardcore.
Might give it a try for ceilings as we always spray, been using laylands 15 lts but will to try different one if it looks white and brighter 🤞🏻

Get tights and strain thru every bucket lad. Don't forget to sniff them before !
Or get an old onion bag and make sure to not sniff it🤣

not sure about the covid theory mate, paint was literally flying off the shelves over lockdown. i was working 7 days a week, made some decent money.
Prat propa jobs worth u 🕯️ man
Proper is pal ive worked with him never met a bigger melt
Seems like a pathetic lowlife. He even parks outside aldi moaning that people with mercs shop there
Dulux gloss is the same. Open the lid day after it's made a film on top of paint and gets in the paint when trying to get it off! Crap!
What knee pads do you recommend?
