That "Bass Knot" at 11:30 is a Palomar knot. Recommended by Berkeley as the best knot for braid. I love those tactical angler clips. So easy to attach your pompano rigs to braided main line.
I love that you call a palomar knot a bass knot - instant credibility. You sir are a true fisherman. Glad to subscribe. Living in Florida now but having grown up in the desert, I’m looking forward to learning more about salt water fishing. Plan to order a board too 🍻
Sinker, got the measurements on the rig board but didn't find out how to tie everything up. Sure enjoy your tubes. I live in Ponte Vedra Beach and doin a bunch of surf fishing but have no idea what I'm doing. You're sure helping though. Thanks !
Sinker guy! Great video. I just ordered some sputnik’s from you last week. My girl and I also met you on Vilano Beach about two years ago. You was giving me some pointers on catching pompano. I’ve moved since then, but I still do some fishing here in Tampa. Thanks for the instructional video. Tight lines!!!
Thanks for the video buddy! I live in the mountains in VA so we don't get to do a whole lot of saltwater fishing but definitely wish I could do more! Will definitely be watching ur vids before I go saltwater fishing next! Looking forward to more videos!
The Sinker Guy i would be interested in how you go about salting your baits and which baits to salt. Maybe in the future you could do a tutorial for us.
Never seen the bass knot. Hey man I've got to throw a line with you sometime. I just started fishing again. I seen you on a couple of UA-cam videos and I live in the same city. I have already learn few new techniques on a couple of videos. I would totally buy some rigs feom you.
Great Video Chip! I'd like to get you to make a rig board for me and get my new employee tying some rigs. Unless you want to supply them. I will never have the time to do it myself lol. Thanks for the excellent information!
Hey Chip. Do you use those same beads on your rigs when you thread the beads onto the shanks of the hooks on the snoods for the mortician rig? Or do you use beads with larger holes for those?? Thank you for all your very informative videos you put out. I’m learning so much !!
Can you give me some more information on the glass bead part numbers. Been to michaels and hobby lobby but haven’t seen any like you make on your rigs. Btw I got my order in. Can’t wait to use my weights in a few days.
If you wanted to target Pompano, Whiting and a passing bull Red, would you fish all rods on a double drop with beads/floats, or would you leave 1 rod on a Mortician rig no float? Concerned about hook size and bait used if sticking solely a double drop wiht float. Thanks as always, built the board, works like a champ. Also built up some Mortician rigs, snoots are free to swing, is awesome.
Great video. Now I have a winter project to get ready for the spring. What size beads do you prefer? Can you tell us what colors attract what fish here in ne fl? I know pink simulates shrimp and orange simulates roe. Thanks in advance.
Killer vid man. Thanks for sharing these tips. We need more people like you. Helping share the sport and not just profit off of it. I do need me one of them rig boards tho! Let’s plan our next fishing trip brotha!
Hey! Awesome video. Love this stuff. Keep it up. Quick question for you... You are using heavy-duty strong and barrel swivels. Any reason we shouldn't go smaller, since these rigs will mainly be catching small fish? Or are you using big terminal tackle just in case a big fish bites? Thanks again for your videos!
Thank you for the kind words. We are using a little stronger swivels and swivel and coast lock because you can put a lot of pressure on the terminal tackle when casting. You can go smaller or with non but recommend at lease 1 swivel is you worry about scaring the fish. I the Jacksonville area it isn’t uncommon to catch a 30-40 in fish with a double drop rig. So I never want to lose a fish because i choose something not adequate enough.
great video. just moved back to the se georgia n/e florida area and was looking for some surf fishing info and local videos from people so i can take my kids out fishing. Question in your glass bead case. what are the colors and sizes of beads you use. thanks
for an unbreakable terminal tackle knot, try the "power knot". Mostly OBX, mid-Atlantic, and some northerly, the power knot is a modified clinch knot, wherein you make a loop and tie a clinch knot. Come back thru the loop at the bottom of the twists, then take the loop over the hardware, and tighten. This knot will knot fail. No part of the knot "bites", it is all twists. clamps, and pulls when tight. Just something I've used for a long time surf fishing. Best to all.
Those purple beads I've heard great things about! If you don't mind send me a couple in the starter pack I just ordered... They don't have them at B&M right now.
First thank you so much for getting the sinkers to Dauphin! The worked flawlessly, unfortunately the fish were not interested in 80 degree water temps nearshore. I have a question regarding storing these amazing weights. Do have a storage solution for these?
@@billybastar4022 you can open them up and rubber band the legs together and they will lie flat in a toiletry bag. Or you can have a small box, if you have a bunch of them they will interlace together and will make a circle so they can slide in a box or a small circle container.
I will try that out. I watched a video of a fisherman who used vitamin tube to house each weight as well. I will try both, although it sounds like a business opportunity to find a solution for these great sinkers. I’m on it!
Hey sinker guy, great video!!! I have searched far and wide for those pear shaped floats with no success. Can you point me in the right direction? Thanks
You mentioned in the video that you make the boards. I went to your website but I don't see them on there or a way to contact you. Is there anyway that I can purchase one and or directions on how to build one? I think it's perfect for the rigs I do and would be extremely helpful and easier on my fingers and eyes.
Do you match your rig line test weight with the size sinker you use? Or does it not make a difference? Would a 5 oz weight snap off the rig using a 30 lb test line in the rig? The reason i ask i see Larry Finch using 10 lb test in his pompano rig yet getting away with throwing a sizable weight. Can you clear this up for me?
This is a fantastic question! The more smooth of a caster you are the lighter you can go. Also the lighter the tip of your rod the lighter you can go. If you are throwing a stiff rod and you are jerky 30lb will hold up just fine. If you want to throw 10lb then I recommend getting good at casting and choose a super lightweight rod like “the bullet” by florida surf tackle. If not you will lose lots of sinkers and rigs. Also choose high quality rigs so you don’t throw off your sinkers. Ask around a lot of people will be honest if a rig isn’t any good. I hope this helps.

I could be wrong black beads could be useful in dirty water, it's black it can create silhouette which help fish see.

Is the black tape on your thumb to prevent hook sticks
No, I cut my finger when preparing the crab knuckles for bait. It would not stop bleeding. Electrical tape works great to stop the bleeding.
