Love it when I see a friendly Fisherman happy to share his knowledge with strangers on the beach. Keep up the good vibes and may the fish gods reward you for your good deeds! I've been Pompano fishing here on the FL West coast for many years but it's been quite a while since I've tipped my pompano rigs with fishbites or sand fleas. Usually straight up beads and a teaser gets the job done when they are running. Maybe it's time to vary my setups going forward. Thanks for sharing the content! Tight Lines!
I created this channel not only to share my experiences, but to help others gain more knowledge about the outdoors. I’m always experimenting with float/bead combos to find what works best for my area/conditions. Thanks for the positive feedback!
@@drivebyquipperbesides his favorite location, what dident he share? He shared his rigs, bait, sinker, sand fleas, fish bites, how to catch and hook sandfles, where to cast, why to cast there, where to move when tide gets really low, ex ex . What In gods name do you want to know? And what do you think he didn’t explain. Sounds like you need a guide to hold your hand, rig your rod and cast it for you smh 🤦♂️ start going to the beach everyday and learn yourself then
The beach fishing spot is really good, boss, the catches of pomfret are good and the releases are extraordinary. I support your channel, my friend. Greetings from your fishing hobby, friend 🤝🎣🐟
If you look down the beach, as soon as the tide runs back in, you can see the ripples where sand fleas are digging. I'm not sure about flat areas like this but in OBX it works.
Yes! You can see them on the flat sandy beaches really well, but they’re a little bit harder to see in the coquina. Thanks for pointing that out. I’ll need to cover that in one of my upcoming videos. Thank you for watching!
I caught several Pompano as a teenager using my freshwater rig. My dad's surf rig was cast farther out. I'm still learning and searching for the great Pompano. 🎣
You are correct. The section of sandbar I was standing on wasn’t that big. (Even though it looked bigger in the video) I was able to cast to the outside edges of the runouts to my left and right. Also, on that particular beach, the second sandbar is a little further out and I placed a few baits on the back side of it. Standing on that sandbar allowed me to cast a little bit further. I should have explained that in the video. Thank you for pointing that out!
Thank you so much! I know you’re supposed to have a niche when it comes to UA-cam, but I have outdoors ADD. I hunt and fish for just about everything and I want to do it all at the same time. You’ll see what I’m talking about in future videos. Thanks again!
Thanks for making this video. I'm moving to Melbourne, FL by Indialantic beach soon. Are you pulling some sort of beach wagon outfitted with pole holders and other stuff? I'd love to see a video about the different beach wagons or beach fishing bikes people use there. Also, I'm surprised you don't wear a left hand glove, have lip grips, or fishing pliers. What's the reason for not using those?
I was using a Fish-N-Mate Jr. cart in this video, but I now have a four wheel Sr. cart with a lift. “The Sinker Guy” has a video on UA-cam that showcases a lot of custom surf carts. You should definitely check it out. I sometimes wear gloves for sun protection and I usually use pliers to remove hooks from the fish I catch. Thank you for watching!
Nice catches! Subscribed! You using a 12’ H rod with 3 oz. Weights? I have an 11’ H which I hope will suffice when I’m in Destin FL first week of September.
@flapjackson6077 yes! I love those rods. You just can’t beat them for the price. I usually use 3 or 4 oz Sinker Guy sputniks depending on the current. You should be just fine with 3 oz in Destin. Thank you for your support!
I like to fish the last two hours of outgoing tide and the first two hours of incoming tide. This allows me to place baits behind the second sandbar. If I can’t fish that particular tide, I will place baits in runouts and in the trough. I hope this helps.
@@Thats_That_Dude During high tide you can throw in the trough between waves . But during low tide where do you throw? Is there a sand bar that is further out during low tide? Is there still a trough and why am I seeing it’s harder to reach.
Thanks for the vid! You know its funny , but most "beach reading" vids show overheads or drone shots. You talk a lot more about what you see from beach level (like where most people fish!) I don't think I've heard anyone mention that the trough/runout is where the foam goes out the farthest. In other words what you can easily see from the beach at beach level. Thanks again!
I’m glad I was able to help. I just thought explaining things in a simple way and showing everyone what to look for from the beach would be helpful. Thank you and good luck out there!
Going to Florida tomorrow for a week, going to try this style of fishing - i have zero experiencewith salt water fishing aside from some charters here and there. I'll have some pliers with me, what did you do with the sting ray? Did you end up finding your pliers? Just dont want to get stung by one of those things while trying to remove the hook. Did you just cut the line?
I did find my pliers eventually. I just used the pliers to remove the hook and scooted him back into the water. If you get some fresh shrimp and a pompano rig, you should be able to catch some fish in the surf. Good luck out there!
I have a measuring tape decal on my surf cart. I measured one at the 18:15 mark in the video. I’m going to pick up one of those pocket tape measures from The Sinker Guy on my next order. Thanks for watching!
You shouldn't drag the fish all the way up the beach if you plan to let it go. You are removing their slim coating. I don't think that is good for the fish. Just saying.
Yeah, if you want to save the population then don't fish. You're not doing any good by catching that fish and releasing it. Many times the fish will die anyways, because of the wound, stress, etc.
Finally, somebody simply explains where to cast while shore fishing. It's a lot of videos out there that are making it over complicated
I’m glad you found it helpful. Hopefully it’ll work for you next time you’re out there on the beach!

Pompano fishing is too good, here in Brazil we love to catch this fish too it is fantastic!
Hugs and happy fishing!👍🎣😊
It would be awesome to fish for Pompano in another part of the world!

What area of beaches do you like ? Have you ever fished delray, boca boynton beach area?
I usually fish NE Florida beaches. I haven’t fished any of those beaches, but I sure would like to give them a try. Thanks for watching!
Why the ruff water weight ? Seems a 3 or 4 oz. Peramid Would do.. great show..
The current in my area can get really strong. I just prefer to use the sputniks, so they stick right where I cast them. Thanks for watching!

I use 3 and 4 ounce The Sinker Guy sputnik sinkers.

What test line are you using? Main line and your leader line?
I usually use 17 pound monofilament main line and 30 pound shock leader. Thanks for watching!
what beach is this place you fished called?
This was in St. Johns County, Florida.

The first pompano, was it full of sea lice?
I think it was probably beach sand stuck to it.
Where is this beach location?
St. Augustine, Florida

You need a tape measure or yard-stick dude. no guessing. At least mark off 12" on your rod handle with some tape , so you can take home some dinner
