Take That To The Bank, The Second Time Around, Make That Move, This Is For The Lover In You, Sweeter As The Days Go, A Night To Remember, and a few more are my favorites by Shalamar, keep them coming man
I remember on the Unsung episode where Jody addressed that. She said that it was appropriate in a way since she felt like a "new artist", now that she has more control.
@@phillipwattsjr.4714 Solo is different from group. Think Walk of Fame. Michael has 4. 1 for the Jacksons, 1 for the Jackson 5, 1for Michael Jackson and 1 for the King of Pop. 2 recognize group achievements and 2 recognize individual achievements.
Side note, Jeffery used to put hands on Jody, and Howard was verbally abusive to Jody! She wised up and VOWED neither one of them would EVER make a penny off of her again! she also vowed to never perform with them again....and she hasn't!
Shalamar were ahead of their time when Howard Hewitt was the lead singer of the band. This Is For Your Lover In You is still a timeless hit and they did a remake with Babyface and LL Cool J. Jody Watley left the group for good because she didn’t get along with Howard Hewitt.
Dick Griffey created Shalamar as a boutique group to make money to sustain and keep his then fledgling label afloat after Don Cornelius backed out of their joint venture. Despite all that talent, including the magical lineup of Howard, Jeffrey, and Jody, he never had the vision to see this entity as anything more than that. That Unsung episode opened up old wounds for sure. The Griffey family still owns Shalamar lock, stock and barrel. They HAVE to perform with his daughter! Jody is staying away for many reasons, do the research, it gets ugly. My favorite songs are The Second Time Around, Take That To The Bank, Make That Move, For The Lover In You, A Night To Remember, Dead Giveaway, Over and Over, I Owe You One, Circumstantial Evidence and Games.
did not know that they had 2 other vocalist before Howard Hewitt, (Great Information)... Make That Move, A Night To Remember, Pop A-Long Kid, Full Of Fire, This Is For The Lover In You, Second Time Around.... So many more.... Thank You for this video!!!
They MOST DEFINITELY Deserve to Be in the HOF. Make That Move & For the Lover In You are my Favs. Thanks for sharing and keep dropping Stellar content!🙏🏿✌🏿✊🏿
Didn't they do several of Michael jackson biopics one when he came up in the business and one when he was by himself in the business and one when he was statrting to get sick too@jonathanbarnes7641
Shalamar had it going on from the late 70's through the mid 80's. And Jody Watley and Howard Hewitt went on to have outstanding solo careers, and Jeffery Daniels taught Michael Jackson how to do the moonwalk. My favorite songs by Shalamar are "Take That to The Bank", "Second Time Around", "Make That Move", "For the Lover in You", "Night To Remember", "Disappearing Act", and "Over and Over"!
14:59 Uptown festival, take that to the bank, full of fire, right there in the socket, second time around, over and over, a night to remember, and many more. Rock-n-Roll Hall of Fame Yes & a star 🌟 on the Hollywood Walk of Fame (Original Members).
Shalamar were a super pop disco act . Howard hewitt jeffrey daniels and jody watley were fab and 100% their best line up. As Dick Griffin said. , together all three were fab but as solo acts , they were ordinary . As for the other additional shalamar members , they were good but just hangers on. Shalamar best song hmm , Somewhere theirs a love for me. Fab post .
Most definitely love the shalamar vid dawg could you do one on the turbans dawg they were around in the doo wop Era they had that song when you dance appreciate the content dawg 💯
Michael "Boogaloo Shrimp" Chambers actually taught MJ the Moonwalk while Jeffrey ran with the lie that it was him. Shrimp and Poopin Taco were friends of Mike and taught him several moves which only enhanced the greatness that is Micheal Jackson.
they absolutely deserve an induction. I'll be honest, I first heard them from circumstantial evidence, but my favorite song with Hewitt is dead giveaway
it should be a star, but eff the hollywood walk, it should be on Crenshaw Blvd in front of mavericks Flat or the Pied Piper off Vernon Ave, where Daniel got his recognition before Soul Train.
My favorite Shalamar song is Make This A Night To Remember

"Over and Over" was my jam.........
Don't forget their 1st- Take That To The Bank, such a jam!!❤
The odd thing is that when Jodey Watley went solo she received a Grammy for best new artist despite getting her start in Shalamar

Jody Watley was and is very pretty 😍😍😍
Still is
@@alfonsogreen2722 no question a woman who i went to church with a pastor's second daughter resembled her in the 80s

With the exception of their performance with Babyface and LL Cool J
@calebdouglas7622 Nope that was video EDITED! Get it right! ✌🏿

Jeffrey used to beat Stephanie Mills during their brief marriage, too

Somewhere theres a love just for me
Dick Griffey is one of the shadiest record producers of all time he did Shalamar and other artist like lakeside dirty when it comes to royalties
Sure why shouldn't they receive some sort of recognition? My favorite song from Shalamar is "I Owe You One."

Part of the thumbnail is not accurate. MJ already knew how to dance
A Little Clickbait Is Not Going To Hurt Anyone. Besides In The Video Itself I Explain Exactly What Move MJ Learned From Jeffery Daniel.
Dick Griffy the original Suge Knight😂

My song someone for me & second time around, for the lover in you
Shalamar was 1 of my favorite groups of all time but at least after 83 or 84 everything fell apart
they absolutely deserve an induction. I'll be honest, I first heard them from circumstantial evidence, but my favorite song with Hewitt is dead giveaway
Jeffery taught MJ the Moonwalk or to be accurate the back slide, everyone should know he already knew how to dance.
Man that would be dope.yes I’m with that!
The second time around, and Take that to the bank.
Thanks……

Please do Leon Haywood. He was a great songwriter, producer and artist responsible for some classics but does not get any recognition.
