I resell mostly clothing and accessories, but very seldom shoes (in fact, I prefer not to sell shoes or sneakers unless they are new because I hate handling used footwear). However, I've been planning for a while to go route thrifting for what I do sell, as I think it'll be the best way to obtain higher quality items and more sellable brands, which just are not frequently found near me. Once I whittle down my death pile - which is huge right now, ugh - route thrifting is absolutely what I will do. I'll probably spend a few days doing it and sleep in my car. Glad to see this video and know that others also thrift on routes. Thanks.
i drive 2 hours away from me for HVT. I get lucky at times when they bring out fresh lots and then unlucky when there are other shoe resellers there already. Luckily i made a connection at the flea market where the person sell me the shoes, i know he gets from the bins, for just a few cents more per pair then what he pays! im glad i made that connection and have found amazing shoes in amazing condition for basically $2
We are going on vacation soon and I told my wife we are going to be stopping along the drive to find some shoes. Depending on space on the way home as well.
I buy a ton from Costco liquidation. It’s always 8-10 a pair delivered. I bought I think around 648 pairs today at 9.43 delivered. Mostly quick turnaround with Puma. UGG. Sorel. Adidas. New balance. You get my drift 😂
That’s makes so much sense. Ours have poor selection and high prices. But not high volume for shoes at all but we have so many Goodwill stores. Too many stores to have high volume. Within 10 minutes of my house there are multiple stores. Plus with the heat, much of the year we wear sandals not sneakers, boots, hiking boots
If you specialise it will take longer and further to source, if you are a general all rounder like a lot of UA-cam resellers you can source closer to home
You are right. Our goal is to source a lot of shoes that need very little cleaning. Nothing wrong with staying close to home and being ok with needing to take more time to clean pairs. Or if you’re looking for smaller quantities then your local thrift might work out great for you. Appreciate you sharing. So many ways to win 💪💪
Like you said, the wider your net the more opportunity you'll have to find profitable items in fewer places. However, specializing in a category can simplify many aspects of reselling which has a value in and of itself. Always a balancing act 👍
Wow, that's a lot of profitable shoes you guys source. That's awesome. We have a Goodwill outlet 10 mins away, and at least 50 thrift stores in the St.Louis metropolitan area. From my experience we do not have that many quality roi shoes like you guys but we do have some. Our outlet is extremely competitive but I do come out with a few pairs most of the time. Some people fill up 2 carts of footwear, but I don't think what they have is worth anything and wonder where are how they are selling these shoes that are damaged, moldy, lower brands etc. Anyways, We appreciate your videos sharing your knowledge and experience with us. It truly has helped these past 3 months since I started taking this business seriously. Thank you.
@@rnzynow Right, I have learned how to restore US made mens boots like redwing and thorogoods that I've made over 125 on a few of them. Still working on: how long to clean the footwear if it's time efficient or not when buying footwear to sell. I see great things coming my way with smart hard work, and knowledge from UA-camrs like yourselves. Thanks
chicago land its really just goodwill and salvation army..... when we took a trip to Niagara falls we got to try Amvets, awesome store! Savers seemed pricey, at least in Buffalo and especially on jerseys
Do you ever go to smaller owned thrift stores? It may not be much but I usually find them to be cheapest and have rare shoes. Another chain of thrift stores we have here in FL is St. Vincent De Paul thrift.
We do occasionally but our model is built around quality and volume and it’s much harder to find quality and volume at small thrifts. There are some gems every once in a while though at the smaller spots 🤘🤘
I'm just barely starting my reselling adventure but am lucky enough to live in a location with several high volume thifts as well as several small thrifts that have large inventories but a slower rate of replenishment. The last thrift I went to was a good sized store and 1/3 of that was shoes! However when I spoke to the staff she said they aren't taking donations due to their small staff and huge backlog. That tells me they probably won't be replenishing very quickly so I won't go there as often. Long story long, lol, talk to the staff just like you said! It'll save you time in the long run!
Do you sell on eBay or other websites? If you have a video talking about that, please post. Thanks! I'm now a subscriber and have watched a couple of your vid's. I sell Yearbooks for 16 years on eBay, but looking to expand inventory. I'm retired but like thrifts, Estate Sale, Garage Sales, etc.
Are you using rewards programs, kids pairs that have an adult version, averaging buy cost over the whole haul and sale days to lower your buy cost? The thrifts we go to are $10-$25 per pair but after discounts they average $8-$9 per pair.
Awesome video and great information! How do you all feel about sourcing for shoes at flea markets? I went the other weekend and there were a lot of great shoes to potentially buy to resell.
I'm going to get 10 pairs and start my journey.i have a eBay store the holds 1,000 listing...so after I list my 10 do you think I should relist them every few days to keep them fresh on eBay.im only able to get 10 pairs per month UNTIL I get a sale...is this a good practice.im scaling slowly
I have HVT stores in my area, however lets talk COG. Savers and Goodwill are expensive, especially for brands that sell for a good ROI. Also my HVT's stock daily and never know what is coming in ...
are you ever worried that local people who live next to these HVT's will realize what you are doing and get to them before you and clean out all these shoes. do you ever drive and find nothing?
No. HVT’s restock daily and there is enough for those who want to take action to get inventory. The reality is there are so many HVT’s and not enough people who actually take action. The Opportunity is real.
Thanks for the info my man. I’m wondering if somehow I can show you the shoes I have and to see if you’d wanna give me an offer. I’m not active in instagram . I need an email or something like that. Let me know.
How do you guys do on kids shoes? My local places usually have quite a few nice name brand kids shoes but they seem to be very slow sellers.
We do well with kids shoes that have a matching adult version.

The more brands you research and the more you learn how to clean shoes the more wins you will find.

…..or you could provide value by saying you’d be willing to buy shoes in bulk to help them move it quicker. Just some food for thought 🤘🤘
@@rnzynow Appreciate the input 👍 I don't yet have the storage space to buy in bulk but that's a great idea, thank you!
Thank you for the great advice. I look forward to more from you both!
Happy to share. Appreciate you tuning in 🤝🤝
Excellent video I've learned so much from y'all and its helped me a lot I appreciate it

We don’t use EBay. We use Poshmark, Mercari, FB Marketplace and Stock X. Appreciate you tuning in!
Thx. I'll check those out. Happy Friday!!
i’m lucky enough to have high volume thrifts and good brands. I’m unlucky enough to have the thrifts stores charge $15-$30 per pair 🙂

@@rnzynow How do you get discounts other than their weekly colored tags from Goodwill?
@@BilGmusic this is what I’ve been wondering…
Usually Goodwill has a rewards program. It’s $X amount per year and gives you discounts when you spend a certain amount of money.
What happened to the Pennsylvania route?
What do you mean?
How do u guys figure out your prices??
We research completed sales of each pair on the marketplaces we plan to sell them on.

No. We don’t use EBay but it always makes sense to source pairs that are selling well by doing the research and checking comps before you buy.
Is there a way to buy any of the shoes you have
We don’t offer wholesale right now but if we do that in the future we will post about how to order 🤝
@@rnzynow were do you sell them I want to buy some of them
As mentioned you can’t right now. We don’t offer wholesale at the moment
