I'm also in the oscillation between deep confusion, sadness and anger. Why when there is so much beauty to admire in the world are people turning away from empathy? Why when there is enough for everyone are we allowing some people to take everything? Thank you for being here and being such a lovely person! Providing so much light, thank you! Also I loved your beautiful handspun, she's just so plump and delightful looking! I've added All the beauty in the world to my library wish list. ❤

Thank you for your presence today. I vacillate between screaming into a pillow and shedding tears. That said, you are welcomed in my day. Just finished The Cliffs, nice romp around a Maine coastal town, check it out as a nice diversion from life.

You nailed my feelings completely. I’m oscillating from anger to disbelief to sadness and back to anger. I try to distract my brain with knitting and spinning…and then rinse and repeat. It’s frustrating times.

Thanks for having us over more often. I am confused and frightened by what’s happening in our country right now. On a lighter note, your shawl and your spinning are gorgeous. I’m currently crocheting the Bonfire Scarf, a free pattern from Purple Iguana. It’s crocheted width wise, but works well with color changing and variegated yarn. Thanks for the book reviews! I’d thank you for the Sumo recommendation several years back, but my husband eats them before I get one! 😂😂😂 Let’s do our best to shine brightly. Pets help. ❤

When you buy the Sumo oranges write your name on half of them with a felt marker. If that doesn't stop him from eating them all then you have a bigger problem.

Hi, AB. I'm 57, a size 2X, love to crochet & I'm learning to knit. I wanted to talk with you a minute about the therapy work you've been doing. Due to various and extensive traumas I have a chronic depression called dysthymia as well as C-PTSD. In 2014 & 2017 I did rounds and rounds of ECT, but it made my memory swiss cheese for years. I have been perpetually resistant to medications - either they just don't work or have nutso side effects. I was talking to one of my docs because I was considering the coil in your head magnetic thing to treat my depression and she suggested hooking me up with a psych who works under the umbrella of her practice who has had great success with Spravato recently. As a wild kid I did lots and lots of not great for me things, so I'm familiar with how certain non-legal medications feel, but I'd never tried Special K, because around the time "designer drugs" were becoming popular I was growing up, starting a family, and stuck mainly to beer. Right now I'm in a phase that can be considered "bed rotting." I only leave the house a couple-few times a year, just doc appointments, basically. Around me is a shit show of chaos & poverty, which does not help. Without treatment I'm stuck in the bog, unable to change anything to better my circumstances in any meaningful way. I think you expressed something along the lines that your treatment made you feel a sense of peace and calm, which you were able to internalize. Can I ask, did you feel subsequently energized at all? Can you tell me any other benefits you were able to glean? Every day the fleeting thought comes around -you know which - that worst one - and while I never DO it, I think about it as an alternative daily because it IS an option, right? Not a great one, but certainly the least amount of work one. I know you're not a doctor, but I'd like to hear more of your thoughts on the treatment and how your doc approaches the work, if you wouldn't mind sharing? The psych at the place I go to pushes cognitive behavioral therapy and is big on lists, but if we can try a different approach I'd be so much happier to try it because CBT never helped much and lists create undue anxiety. Please reach out if you feel like talking? I'm interested in learning more about this therapy from your point of view. valeripaxtonsteele at good old g mail OR Valeri Feinbloom on Fb OR ladyvalkyri on Insta/BlueSky/Discord (but e mail & Fb are best). Hugs, my shiny, boggy friend.

Also like Josh Johnson, would recommend Martin Doolaard channel as a man who is restoring a stone cabin in the Italian Alps and Victoria Beata who has a storybook channel that is quite wonderful 😊 these are what I watch when needing a break from my own RAGE against the cruelty unleashed upon us all. I bet I’m shining pretty f#%king bright when doing so! Love the Tigress bag❤

Btw the author JD Robb is the romance writer Nora Roberts. I’m glad you have experienced the feeling of Tranquil Mind that comes out of agreement between your conscience and unconscious states of mind which is a mind-body agreement in consciousness. Picture it as mirroring your reflection across timelines of past -present-future. To enter this state at will is the goal of yoga which means yoke. It is to yoke 3 states of your consciousness into a trinity (the 3rd party is the spirit and/or soul of self. If you’re a Christian it’s the male only trinity of father-son-holy ghost. But if you explore earlier religions such as Greek, where the female trinity is Persephone (maiden) Demeter (mother) Hecate (crone) for the resurrection of light from within). The male light is typically the sun and the female light is typically the moon ( Apollo and Artemis) but since we’re individually made from both (metaphorically speaking) to bring waking-sun consciousness into your sleeping moon subconscious is how you begin to build agreement that leads to Tranquil Mind regardless of the gender label. Once you build enough trinity’s (think self triangulation of your beliefs) you then can begin entering this state at will.😊

A funny story-my resolution this year was to use my stash and not buy any craft supplies. I fell in love with the first bag and showed it to my husband. I asked him if he thought it would be considered a craft supply. He told me to buy it for a lunch bag and if it didn’t work for that I would just have to find another use for it. No idea what else I could use it for…😂❤Love that man!

I am almost through Yellowface. Yeah, cringe and it’s hard when there is nothing to like about the main character. 100 pages more to go - not expecting a shocking ending. Crafting and the dog are saving me. Just want to tell everybody, plant your garden this year. Get on it, because there is not going to be a lot of produce. Plan now!

I so appreciate you acknowledging the crapstorm that’s happening here in the U.S. and the feelings of frustration, bewilderment, fear, and depression that many of us are experiencing. It is a strange and kind of sad world right now. I agree that it is beyond comprehension that those with more individual wealth then many countries choose to only accumulate more wealth with no compassion for those that don’t. Sure they may donate to some charities, but they could help the lives of so many people in such a positive way. Here in Canada we are just waiting for the impact of the Trump tariffs which he is imposing for reasons beyond me. Anyway, trying to stay as positive as we can and take comfort in our families and friends. Love your chatter and know that you are giving us a chance to smile and have a laugh❤

Long established Science shows children can’t learn unless their higher needs of housing and food are addressed. That’s why the US started the reduced lunch program. If compassion doesn’t sway ones opinion, maybe think of it as an investment in America’s future. If these students do well in school- they are less likely to get into drugs and crime, and won’t be on public funding for housing and food! It really is a win/win for everyone!

I would feel better about your sentiments if the people in power were actually following the laws and the constitution. During this past 10 days or so, the constitution and laws have been broken many times, with Republican judges stepping in and saying no. Several of the people appointed to cabinet positions are lying under oath and apparently that’s fine. I taught government to both high school and middle school students and have taken many week-long field trips to DC with students to tour the capitol, Arlington, the Holocaust museum, Gettysburg, the National Mall and too many museums to count. I never once taught them that lying and ignoring the laws and constitution was the way to be a good and decent citizen. It makes me sick to think that this is what passes for leadership at this time. I don’t believe our founding fathers wanted us to become a country of deceitful people who attacked our allies and made excuses for dictators. When I think of all of the members of the military who have given their lives so we and other democracies around the world could be free from tyranny, I cry. When I walk through Arlington, all I can do is say a grateful prayer of thanks. When I walk the battlefields of the Civil War, all I can do is be thankful for our country not perishing from this earth. When I taught confirmation classes at my church, I told my students how fortunate they were to live in a country where education was available to everyone and that we are able to freely worship as we choose without interference from the government. I taught them how lucky we are that we don’t have to hide who we are and what we believe from the government or each other. We are currently in the process of losing that and all I can do is weep remembering my students singing the preamble to the constitution while waiting in line to tour the National Archives.
We the people, in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice and insure domestic tranquility. Provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare and promote the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity do ordain and declare this the constitution of America.
That’s what’s good for our country and our children. ❤

At your mention of apples and Northern Flickers, I was reminded of the poem, What Kind of Times are These by Adrienne Rich. It’s necessary reading. 🌳🍎🪶

Laura taught her socks 101 for my guild this weekend and it was GREAT! I’m soaking my little sample now.
