Worst way to demonstrate product video from a product parent company. I searched for it as the instructions on the paper with the package were not helpful.
This video is about as useful as the tape gun itself. Blades don't extend far enough to cut the tape effectively. I've used tape guns before, so inexperience isn't the culprit. The problem, in my opinion, is that they tried improving on a design that wasn't broken. Now there are too many moving parts that get in the way of the product working correctly. When I prop the blades so that they're fixed, they work better. The safety feature keeping the blades "sheathed" is actually the crux of this product. Terrible dispenser, trashed it two hours after I bought it.
Yeah this product is garbage. Doesn't work properly and a waste of money. I spent more time adjusting the tape after every roll and makes the job take longer rather than help save time. Tape gets stuck to the gun as well. The edges on the roller dig into the box when you are applying pressure to cut the tape.
It's not the video. It's the tape gun that's faulty. I think everyone deserves a 3m machine for compensation. I'm already mad about having to pack and move again. Now this!
This tape dispenser has some real issues. It's easy to load but the metal tab that holds the tape against the roller is constantly getting stuck to the tape. Wish I had looked at some online reviews before I bought it. Seems to be a very common issue for many people.

I have this exact dispenser and the tape is put on correctly. It doesn't work. The tape just goes and goes. It does not get cut any. Maybe you have to lean on the plastic piece on the top. I will try that next time I need it. No one explains about that part.

For anyone looking, this tape gun is almost completely useless. The cutting mechanism is highly flawed and rarely cuts the tape properly. I have had many tape guns in the past and this thing is so frustrating its not worth it. I end up cutting with scissors more than 75% of the time. DO NOT BUY.

Hey guys this video hardly helps but it did kinda show me how to load it but I was still struggling to cut the tape against the blade! If you’re having that problem too then unwind the plastic grey tension knob a little in the middle of your roll of tape.

I bought this without reading reviews first (mistake) but I figured a tape company knew how to make a dispenser.. WRONG. The blade is worthless and won’t cut the tape, it just pushes it out, you have to use scissors to cut the tape. It wastes so much tape and looks like a damn mess when you’re done. The metal edges dig into the box when you lean all you bodyweight onto the gun to try and get it to cut. Junk.
I have never thumbed down a video before, so congrats on breaking me scotch. Making me watch a 30 second ad to get to the completely useless 15 second clip made the experience extra special. For what it's worth, this tape dispenser is actually quite nice once you figure it out - the key thing to know is that pressing down on the clear shield lifts the teeth to cut the tape. I like this design, and I believe it will help keep the teeth sharp. It is a shame that this feature is not obvious, and that they didn't take the time to show it in this video. I hope this helps somebody!
A complete waste of money. The retractable cutter DOES NOT CUT the tape. If you love frustration you will LOVE this. Throwing in the trash. I cant believe that Home Depot would carry such a poorly functioning product. BTW the demo video is a joke. It does not show how to effectively cut the tape.

Absolute trash! They don't show it cutting the tape... Because it literally can not cut the tape it comes with. Nope, not even with the tension knob all the way tight... Or even while using both hands to keep the stopped. Truly class action lawsuit worthy.
This tape machine is the worst. What's with the plastic guard that doesn't retract and let you cut the tape? I am livid that my green machine was misplaced and bought this piece of crap to replace it. Just keep scissors handy and get ready to have a tug of war with the runaway tape sticking to everything but the box

I'm so sorry that I bought this tape dispenser. It does not work well and it wastes a lot of tape. I thought I had loaded it incorrectly but after watching this stupid video it seems that I have loaded it correctly even though I had to slow it down to see it step by step. Shit product.
This video is about as useful as a hole in a boat. I'd figure this dispenser would come with a balance beam for all the gymnastics you have to do to get the tape to tear.
Got it at SAMs and it does not work the way this video shows. Fake news actually should be flagged for misinformation. It dispenses correctly but does not cut, cutting is the most important part...... in my best Seinfeld imitation.

When you go to Settings --> Playback speed --> 0.25 you can just about see how to load the tape. What a rubbish video!

By far the worst instruction video I’ve ever seen. Scotch should take that down and make a real one. Just look at how many thumbs down! What a shame.
