You and me both and then I go: “ok I see your sharp blade why tf do I not have a sharp blade?! then I realize for weeks it’s been covered with the little black piece of plastic I had the whole thing set right just thought it was a hidden blade I had to wrap the tape around 😒😑🥴🤦♂️
I can't believe I had to look this up either. I had the damn tape threaded all the way around the roller, then up and over the (plastic guard???) yeah, I feel dumb. Thanks IrixGuy for posting this video.

For those of you who feel that it didn't work..' I felt that way too and then I felt stupid. There is a plastic piece over the cutting blade so once removed it will work exactly like he shows. ' Just thought I'd mention it cause I was trying to feed the tape upward etc.. UNTIL I realized why!! lol
That plastic piece is the devil to discover :) 👿

wow, finally i am able to use this tape dispenser, the video helped me how to load the tape but was no cutting until someone said ..... remove the black cover on the blade and that was my problem the dispenser is new . so now i am using it right. Thanks

It would help if it came with instructions on the package and something telling you to remove the plastic guard on the cutting blade.
It took me a few minutes to figure out how to use this tape gun but since I did, I've been taping boxes like a boss! I've probably taped several thousand boxes now =)

I bought mine 5 yrs. Ago. I figured it out without instructions but the stupid tape after using the gun was hanging out in the wind bothered me. What I decided to do from the git go was to fold from the end of the tape over a half inch unto itself. It hasn't been sticking to stuff after I use it. So, I thought I should goggle for a better answer. Your suggestion to another commenter was to attach the end to the metal plate. It's probably going to make that surface extra sticky in time, of coarse if it gets too bad I can use a solvent. Hey. Thanks for the video, it seems to have helped alot of folks who got stumped. The gun is a very good tool......

I recently began having the issue of my tape not cutting when i do the final tilt and pull the blade will just scratch the tape and extend or expose more tape than I want. I know its not a blade issue but more or less the metal piece that is supposed to hold the tape to the black wheel. How can i fix this?

I just tape it to the bottom of the metal piece, to prevent it from sticking to anything while not in use.

I literally had to search this. I had no idea how this works. I always buy the disposable ones. Sent the hubby to the store and he comes back with this monstrous thing! I'm staring at it like it's a foreign object that was just discovered on earth. It kinda intimidated me, but I didnt tell him. Waited for him to go to work so I could look up how to use it. You are a life saver. Was so simple. But then.... I couldn't get it to cut until I read others comments about the blade guard. Good grief.

Of course he doesn't show how to tape something & how the device cuts the tapes, loaded it exactly this way & it won't cut the tape.
Mine cuts the tape perfectly.
Found out there is a small/thin black plastic shield over the cutting blade just an FYI.

Liked your video. Only thing, the Duck Tape holder I purchased had a plastic protectorate over the cutting edge. Watched your video several times, finally gave up. Came back this am and spied the protective cover, tried to remove and as a result was able to load my tape gun. If you can edit your video, please add a comment about removing the plastic cover over the cutting edge. Maybe it will keep others from feeling as frustated as I was yesterday. Thanks

Yes, tell us to remove the plastic guard on the cutting blade !!! It's not obvious that there is one !!! Otherwise, this was a very clear explanation, much better than several of the others - which also didn't mention the plastic guard !

I had to look it up too….but there is also a black plastic protector over the blade which it took me a few uses to find!! I was wondering why the tape wouldn’t cut!! 😂
How about showing how you put the dispenser together with the red screws and spring. They come in pieces! If people dont get home to put the tape in that's rediculous.

@@IrixGuy we're in the middle of moving and one of my kids unscrewed the tape holder and I couldn't figure out where the silver coil goes so I put it back together with out the coil or spring and it seems to work. I tried many ways to screw it all back together but each time the tape wouldn't turn freely. Anyways

i just wanna play with the tape gun haha lol and i sometimes have a box or two or three or four that i also use it for as well and ur absolutely correct now give this man a roll of duck tape and i mean that good good duck tape

Also, there is a plastic black colored guard on the cutter that needs to be removed prior to cutting the tape. I am a college grad and can’t believe that I couldn’t figure it out! DUH!

Just bought this tape dispenser from Walmart. This how-to video first popped up. Couldn't find the blade if not for the other video I lookep up into. I thought the black plastic was part of the presser. Next time make a thorough demo on how to load the tape, please.
