Just tried this today, such a fantastic recipe. The rice was fragrant with balanced spices, while the chicken was tender and succulent. Don’t worry if you don’t have dried lemons, I used fresh lemons and they worked beautifully.
Thank you so much for this recipe, turned out perfect. My chicken was slightly undercooked cos the flame went off for whatever reason. But the flavour of the rice is amazing. I went through a number of recipes before deciding on this one and MasyaAllah this was amazing. So thank you so much. Oh for the chicken, I added a little coriander powder the the rub and a little lime juice - just cause of my own preference. Bless your heart for sharing this recipe. My family was happy
I miss eating chicken mandi when I was in dubai.. I've been cooking it another way which uses a lot of saffron.. I will try your recipe, hopefully this will be more authentic. thank you!
Thanks for the recipe... it took around 75-90 minutes to make it... tastes great But some rice got sticked on bottom of vessel :( thanks for the real arabic taste
I tried your recipe, everyone loved it❤️❤️❤️Thanks for this recipe. I changed it little bit because i didnt make chicken. Also i used black pepper instead of white pepper and it turned out well❤️
Made this just now. OK but not like real mandi. The chutney was the best bit, tasted authentic, though mine was green thanks to Chilies and Coriander. Not sure how yours came out red... Food colour? The rice and chicken was a bit bland. I didn't smoke it so that might improve the taste but probably not much ☹️
Hi, thank you for writing. Happy that you tried it.😊. The taste may vary slightly according to the ingredients we use, may be that's why you didn't feel the taste. In middle east the rice has very light taste, but when I tried in India it was tasting more masala. So it depends. 😊. You can add more spices if you want... thank you again for trying and writing here. Means a lot..🤗

Which brand of basmati rice you used?
You can use any long grain basmati rice. I don't remember the brand I used for this, I use India gate, dawat, tilda etc.
Any alternative for dried lemons please
An ordinary fresh lemon will be as good 👍

Yes. For colour you can use little bit of turmeric or food colour.
