I’m in the same boat, I think we need to understand like with anything if there’s no pain there’s no gain, this definitely isn’t easy but It does work, the biggest thing is not to panic during an episode, if you keep from panicking then it’s just an attack and not a panic attack. Not panicking will make you stronger and ensure that you will get through it as soon as possible. I wish you the best of luck and know you’re not alone in this.

I'm currently trying this with my constant anxiety attacks. My fear is of nothing but the attacks and symptoms. I've only been like this for about 8 weeks. A heart scare triggered it. After only a day or two of using Dr. Barry's methods, they do seem to be lessening. My attacks, though, don't last 10 minutes, it's more like an hour or more. It will come in waves all day, burning, tingling in my chest and limbs. Quite frankly I'm exhausted! I'm not giving up, though.

@@jasreeldomasing2470 I'm no doctor, and I'm not completely healed, but I have made great strides. Here's what I've done. (I warn you, it's long.) Firstly, I got a complete check up. I was found to be deficient in several vitamins and minerals. A deficiency in any one (D, B12, Iron, Magnesium, etc.) can cause anxiety and depression. I'm scheduled for a sleep study in early November. Sleep apnea or lack of quality sleep can cause or aggravate anxiety and depression. I cleaned up my diet by about 80%. I allow myself two meals and two snacks a week to eat whatever I want. The rest of the week, I eat for nutrition, mostly whole foods. I don't drink or smoke. I exercise everyday, though I still haven't begun cardio or strength training, which are important. I've been reading and following Dr. Stephen Ilardi's 6 steps to eliminating depression. His book is called The Depression Cure. (He has a Tedtalk right here on UA-cam that outlines those steps.) I started taking 400 mg magnesium glycinate daily. My therapist's NP said this was a good idea. There's a strong link between anxiety/depression and magnesium deficiency. MOST IMPORTANTLY...This is the best advice I'm going to give you. Study the teachings of Dr. Claire Weeks. She was the pioneer of the technique Dr. Barry describes. Even though she's been dead almost 3 decades, her work is still saving lives. Some kind souls have uploaded her recordings to UA-cam. I'll link you one. ua-cam.com/video/MHr4a71XGJE/v-deo.html Do what she teaches. Do exactly what she says. I listen to her recordings or read her book Hope And Help For Your Nerves daily. You will learn something new every time! I'm serious, it's like she's speaking directly to you. Her acceptance method is not easy at first. It takes time. It takes a lot of practice. And when you have a setback after doing well, you'll feel defeated and heartsick. That's when you turn back to Dr. Weekes. She will get you through. I do encourage you to read her book. She speaks about the sometimes necessity of tranquilization. (It helped me a lot because I was afraid of my benzo after realizing that my antidepressant exacerbated my anxiety/panic X10. I'm down to 1 daily dose of 0.25 Clonazapem.) Also, stay away from kratom tea and marijuana. After weeks of consistent improvement I was almost cured. I drank kratom tea and it set off a full blown panic attack. I now believe it's what started my whole ordeal. Turns out kratom, just like some antidepressants, can actually cause anxiety in those who don't have it, increase anxiety in those who do and induce panic attacks, even in long term users like myself. Good luck! And don't forget to check out that Dr. Weekes recording.

This is what is happening to me too it lasts for hours and it drains my body completely 😢 I have been getting it again for the last week now and yesterday it was extremely bad that I thought I was literally going to die. I'm so tired don't sleep well because I'm afraid all the time
Dr. Barry helped me cure my panic disorder and insomnia. My life had become miserable and my anxiety was through the roof. I had a hard time sleeping and when I did, I was waking in the middle of the night in panic. The turning point for me was when I understood that panic is a physical phenomenon - caused by adrenaline and cortisol. Nothing more. It’s our own minds that attach fear to these sensations. There is nothing fearful about them - they are physical stimulation and sensations that are uncomfortable but that’s it. It’s a paper tiger. This allowed me to consciously ride the wave and the panic and anxiety started disappearing within minutes once I realized this. I also realized that my nervous system was very stressed so I studied up on supplements to help heal my nervous system. I started supplementing with over the counter products - B vitamins and magnesium, and taking CBD spray (legal where I live) late in the evening so my mind and body were calm before I went to bed. I also took valerian root when the anxiety was especially bad. I believe that all this helped heal and calm down my nervous system and the change in my outlook and understanding of panic and anxiety sealed the deal. I now sleep well through the night and have very manageable anxiety. I write this for those out there who feel they will never be “normal” again and will never sleep again - I certainly was worried that I would never go back to my former self and was I terrified that these issues would be permanent. They were temporary and what it takes to heal in my opinion is knowledge and a change of perspective, some good sleeping habits and focusing on healing and calming your nervous system. This worked for me.
@@CristinaMoya-yt4tb I’ve been doing well! Thanks for asking. I continue to manage my panic and anxiety and have been sleeping no problem, and no longer have panic attacks at all.
@@CristinaMoya-yt4tb I lay out the steps I took in detail above ⬆️ They worked for me. My approach was to address both the physical and the psychological when it came to my anxiety and panic issues. I still have anxiety sometimes but I can manage it fairly easily now. I have not had a panic attack in a long while. I’m also sleeping normally again. Good luck to you, I hope you find peace.
My panic attacks occur when I am by myself for no reason... they can come on so hard that I literally have temporary short term memory loss for up to 30 minutes... its freaking insane.
The worst for me is the dry mouth. Makes it hard to swallow and makes me think its hard to breathe. I can beat them through most of the day but for some reason when I’m falling asleep i will have a panic attack and will jolt straight up in bed when i was almost asleep in a dream like state. Then ensues the fear of falling asleep. So now i have to “flood” in my bed or sitting on my couch at night. I guess my point is once you’ve “beat it” during when it normally happens(for me it was mid day through until i went to bed) it may try and pop in at another time. Don’t let this scare you as you just have to not respond and teach it theres no real danger in any part of your day. Still sucks but hang in there!!

Ok so I got massive attack and rode it out for 24 minutes, this goes long it took to settle down more or less. But while I was floating and flooding I was getting little bursts of panic from intrusive thoughts. So it was frustrating. I’m feeling edgy and panicky again now, so going to ride this out and see how long it takes to ride the wave.

This method is basically Claire Weekes' Four Stage treatment. It's not essentially "flooding", but you can do it via flooding. Research literature has shown that progressive exposure is much more affective and causes less relapses than flooding. Flooding, for those who don't understand the concept entails skipping all the levels of exposure and going straight to the thing you fear most. It's basically like jumping into a hot bath without dipping your toe in first: you'll either be able to cope with the heat and gradually adjust, or it will scold you and make you MORE anxious about taking a bath. So be careful.
Flooding advice is good, but it’s not true that nobody can ever see signs of anxiety in others - weakens your persuasiveness. But you otherwise clearly know your stuff. I like your videos overall.
Richard Fishbein what he try to say is that people witch never had panic anxiety would never 👀 see it, how is that they have not experienced it so how could they know, I could not see it before I got it now I can feel it when a person in the same rom have it, what do I do I do stop ✋ my job to help this person because it’s the most horrible feeling you ever can get
Ali Mohammed I understand completely; however, there are obvious signs of nervousness that any perceptive person can recognize. For example, face turning flush/white from blood draining to organs, shaking hands, fingers, legs, rapid breathing, quivering voice, etc. It is actually unhelpful to give anyone a false sense of security as someone may notice one’s symptoms...no big deal. It is true that fewer people than you might think will actually notice.
I started getting severe panic attacks in 2020 and I thought I was going to die. It would last almost all day or on and off during the day. And it was happening for 6 months I was even hospitalized one time it was so bad. Then it disappeared and reservist again a week ago and it's constantly now just going away for a few min then starts up again. I'm totally exhausted 😢 I was woken up at 1am in the morning with it and it lasted for a few hours. I'm currently going through menopause en I get a lot of hot flushes 😢 all the time.

How have you been doing?
@@CristinaMoya-yt4tb I’ve been doing well! Thanks for asking. I continue to manage my panic and anxiety and have been sleeping no problem, and no longer have panic attacks at all.
@@zacker05 how? Is it watch this video has said how did you get rid of it and do you still have anxiety sometimes I have panic disorder too
@@zacker05 what****
@@CristinaMoya-yt4tb I lay out the steps I took in detail above ⬆️ They worked for me.
Hi omg I have the same reaction .. I can't even remember my own name for about few min s ...it comes and go for 30 min 40 just like yours
Tku for sharing.
We shall be ok...
amazing.. .truly amazing
Thanks a million for this extremely helpful video, I experience daily anxiety and low mood and in particular social anxiety thank you.
Im going through the same thing!!! Wow its a trip too see someone going through what I am.
@@jiniearanda7217 how are you doing? I am too, I'll be ok in the morning after I get up but mid afternoon til like 6 I'm a mess, ....
How are you doing ?
@@heatherprivatecraftandchat3345 Im doing way better now, they put me on zoloft and im finally sleeping better. It's just hard for me to understand where these panic attacks came from considering im 39 and I use too go through worse things in my teens when I would expect these panic episodes. I still feel out of touch like im watching my life happen, but I havent had a episode in a month. I was at the doctors everyday pretty much and ER twice just because how severe these attacks were. How are you doing or feeling?
@@jiniearanda7217 oh wow. Glad you're doing a bit better. I'm still trying to cope. I've tried meds but haven't found one that helped besides paxil and even that at one point wasn't helping much. I never thought this is how things would be. I'm 36 and having a tough time coping.
He is right....if we try to fight with our fears it will automatically vanish...the more we avoid or run away it will chase us. I tried it and definitely help me to come over my anxiety. It's hard at first but later on it becomes easy.
Thank you
Thank u Dr. Harry Barry. You r no less than God. U saved my life. I am following flooding technician to fight my panic attacks ks
I am panicking right now. I just found your channel. I am trying very hard to try what you have suggested.
I need help 😭😭 I am suffering from severe panic disorder 😭
I get them when I wake up at night / early morning like 3am. I don't sleep much after that, it is just wave after wave of strong anxiety. Hours and hours in the dark the past 7 months is about to break me, there is just so much I can manage to let flood... 😢😢
did you find a solution to your problem?
@@elouv my problem is tinnitus. When I wake up at night my body reacts to it. Sometimes my anxiety lasts the whole day, sometimes a few hours. But no. Still not much better. I try to accept and float as best I can every single night. It's been over 9 months and I have no idea if it will ever get better... I can't escape tinnitus..
@@laisa. this is a nightmare. I hope you can manage your anxiety in some way, maybe find the right med?
Hello Liza, have you tried any medicine, my friend?
Do cold showers and wim Hof breathing, I'm on day 13, was having alot anxiety and symptoms of depression and after only two days i gained back control, they don't completely subsided but these methods make it easier to manage.
Dr. Harry Barry has very similar methods to Barry McDonagh. Bot of them talk about getting rid of the anxiety and panic attacks.
@Katie .R oh ok, I never knew they worked together.
Yes .. u r right . Harry barry is a doctor but barry McDonald is an old patient but he treated him that are same
Now that is something else. Trying this when my amygdala wakes me up at 438 am every morning…. Tomorrow I hope it works🙏
god it wakes me up too ... or just before going to sleep !
Did it?
I thank God for helping me come across this video. Am a new subscriber. I've been having panic attacks for the last 3months. Am 22. Honestly they are scary, terrible, you feel like you dying in the next few minutes. Oh my God thanks Dr for this important information. I watched your video yesterday and I slept with peace in fact I will be more healthier from today bcoz I have no worry in life anymore. Am ready to face it anytime it comes bcoz I realize this shit is not even real in the first place. May God bless you Dr so that you can bless others too.
Thanks Dr Barry.
That is exactly what I used to do in my early twenties and it worked.its now returned in my fifties but it is not working now 🙄
I tend to awake around 3 AM in a panic state and feed the flame. I can not stand being in my skin, why are we alive, deep breathing and going in and out of house. Psychiatrist put me on Lexapro told my Dr. I felt good so he stopped it. It is a horrible feeling waiting for sunrise from 2 or 3 AM. Winter is the worst will try gluing myself and accepting the chemical rush. The Best Thank You so much for sharing your wisdom.
Oh wow, this is exactly how I feel!! How are you doing now? I've decided to check myself for sleep apnea. Don't know result yet. But anyway did you ever get better?
Ok so I got massive attack and rode it out for 24 minutes, this goes long it took to settle down more or less. But while I was floating and flooding I was getting little bursts of panic from intrusive thoughts. So it was frustrating. I’m feeling edgy and panicky again now, so going to ride this out and see how long it takes to ride the wave.
Just repeat "uncomfortable but not dangerous" whilst riding it
Yea just keep trying, cant always get it the first time, takes a bit of practice, it is far easier said than done but absolutely doable.
Ok🙂. Now i have To go in a public place To face my fears and To have a panic attack To finally get rid of them🤗. Will do. Am terryfied 😖😞
You are not alone, just go and you will be a winner!!
I’m in the same boat. Be strong!
😅😅
Uncomfortable but not dangerous. Most people with anxiety are very healthy because they are afraid to Get sick. Let anxiety flow to your head down to your big toe, let it go away. Focus on present what are you doing now and stay calm. You have overcome it before
Excellent advice.
This is great! Thank you !
people can see the symptoms of anxiety. some will acoss the street to avoid. becuase they fear you.
Thank you doc ❤
Thank you
What about dizziness symptom? I just go with it but it's there everyday

"they (panic attacks) last for 5-10 minutes if you do nothing with them, and they last an hour if you try to stop them."
Wow I've had panic disorder for 14 years now. Only Xanax makes it go away :(
Wow 😍😍
what about if there is no danger . and u still get a panic attack? from mostly obbseive thoughts . nothing to do with outside enviroment

Will I die from panic attack because that's something that never made clear to me
Panic attacks while driving are not easy to handle.
It is dangerous when your blood pressure is 220/120 stroke out
What if you can’t visualise though
Exactly! I find it so hard to visualise... 😢
Not much help if it happens when you're driving the car on a motorway - and you can't pull over
This method is basically Claire Weekes' Four Stage treatment.
Believe in Jesus Christ.

I’m going through menopause also and I’ve noticed my anxiety getting worse
Hi... Im going through exact same thing last few months. Refuse to take anti-Depressant because I truly feel hormones are cause. Im in perimenopause
