People often forget no one is going to live forever. Live how you want , how ever fast and hard you want. Lemmy lived 10 lives and i bet it sure as shit it beat wearing a suit and working a 9-5.
I get when people talk about stuff like "quality of life" when saying you should avoid drugs, alcohol, and being unhealthy because not only will your life be shorter, but a huge chunk of your last days will be miserable. They aren't all wrong. It's typically not the case that you just have a blast and feel great up until the day you die. However, I think Lemmy is a glaring exception because of the life he made for himself. He never slowed down. He truly went out in a glorious blaze. He was touring the year he died. I honestly think if he'd done everything the same but never smoked cigarettes, he'd still be a live. They're by far the biggest killers and in my opinion, a boring and expensive drug. That said, I'm not going to tell anyone how to live their life. It's hard to picture Lemmy without a cig. For everyone who isn't a damn good rockstar though, have your fun but take care of yourself. Hell even sitting down all day will kill you! A little self maintenance here and there and avoiding some no brainers like certain drug combos and, in my opinion, smoking cigs, will go a LONG way and let you party harder for longer. No need to be a prude or health nut to have a great life. Just use your brain. RIP LEMMY!
I was going to write "if you think 2020 is shit, wait till you get to 2022..." but this is not how the comment section...or time in general works...🤷♂️
Live by the sword, die by the sword. I have more respect for this man than most of the people that I know. He is doing what he wanted to do for his entire life. Not many people can say that. He is right though, about work in general. Some days you don't feel like it. You can't call off. Just go do it.
The passion for life Lemmy had was amazing he was like a damaged moral compass it let you get away with light hearted things but always gave humble almost fatherly advice to keep you from fucking up to bad
2:20 that’s so true! I didn’t give a damn about growing old when I was a teenager all the way into my early 20s. Todays in my late 30s I’m almost old, and I certainly would like to make it to 70 at least. 😂
Always was hard on Lemmy............but I've since grown to love him..........more as a raconteur than a bassist. His way of talking about life, I could listen to for hours
"How is it possible to stop?" This is the truth. Either you are a freak or you are making it up and end up getting fat and lazy or working in a bank or worse. This is wisdom.
I have the utmost respect for the man and his legacy as anyone. But all i can say is to the ppl who believed that Lemmy drank a bottle of Jack per day for 40 odd years, is either very young and gullible or extremely naive. We all could see that was a gimmick.
@keefriff99 excuse me? the music they wrote is heroic to many people....you try writing sticky fingers, beggars banquet, exile on main street or any motorhead album
@indaz1 Speed use. Lemmy was a major speedfreak, no idea when he quit though. He admits he uses some sort of drug still nowadays, but he refuses to say anymore than that about his current drug use.
I Had a great Summer, around 1980, doin Speed,, then i gave it up, and aint done it since,, its false economy,, i looked like a dead spinster,, but now im fit as a flea, and dont do the shit.. no smoke,.no heavy booze,,, but i Mushrooms,, yeah,,,,,,,,,
Can someone explain what he says at 2:06 and forward? "Some people are in the basket rivers hotel and some of us aren't"? Something along the lines of that. I know it's wrong, but it's what I hear.
People who have overdone the rock star lifestyle and end up in the mental hospital (Basketweavers' hotel) with nervous exhaustion, as they used to call it in the 70's. I imagine Lemmy knew lots of such people.
Respect old beauty you are in a class of your own real as the day is long a trait that seems to be less and less common I think it's because most people are too soft to be real and true it's too hard, too much work! Fuck them!
"It´s not what I do, it is what I am." Pure wisdom.
i don't think he had a choice, by the way he said that. i think for some people it's either live that life or be completely miserable or worse.
Yeah but what you do effects what you are
70 is a long damn life in the rock world....he lived the way he wanted too....on the road..
it's a damned long time for anyone
Interview: "how did you approach it:"
Lemmy: "From the side usually, tip toeing"

As Duke Ellington said, "Retire to what?" Lemmy is the man.
Love him, Miss him.
At least he didn't have to endure the mess we call 2020.

'They go on stage looking like Rip Van Winkle, or worse' - ahahaha every video with Lemmy there's at least two or three golden quotes.
He should been the king of England. Think about that amount of respect, trust and and love all over the Universe.
Always was hard on Lemmy............but I've since grown to love him..........more as a raconteur than a bassist. His way of talking about life, I could listen to for hours

Call me crazy, but I can understand Lemmy better than the interviewer.
He lives on in our hearts through the wisdom he bestowed on us and through the kick ass rock music be graced us with
I've learned in my life that you should do whatever the fuck you want to do, not what you have to do.
Words of wisdom from one that has lived it. Praise Lemny!
It's amazing he lived for so long😁. Man he lived the hell out of life 🤘..
If its good enough for Lemmy to dye his hair its good enough for me

Legend has it that the interviewer dyed his hair grey afterwards
Rest in Peace Lemmy.
Forever Young: How Rock 'n' Roll Grew Up. Plus, they slipped in some clips from an earlier doc on Motorhead - the bits on the tour bus.
Correct. It was a BBC documentary from 2004 called: Live Fast, Die Old.
Classic 🎸
He’s just one tough man I could never do what he did

Lemmy's got dentures now.
It's sad that he wasn't a Father to his son the biggest job in the world.

Basket Weavers hotel meaning nut house & conformity. While others live life to the fullest as they want. A no fucks given so to speak.
