    Great to see Chery is listening to their customers. The more competition we have here the better. Totally agree re sunroof cover, translucent sunroof covers are ridicules in Australia. Excellent review Dimitri.

      Thanks mate. I think Chery is improving worldwide, some good info coming from SA, hopefully we'll have similar expansion here in AU.

    Thanks for the nice coverage of an improved Cherry mate. A van, a dual cab Ute and an SUV would be awesome. Well done to Cherry as well.

      They are on the verge of announcing release of a Ute in SA mate, so there's hope for AU down the track for sure (as we're a similar market to SA)

    Nice car for the price.Very hard to beat .I would consider this as a trade for my MGzst that I bought right there .Ryde MG was there now I see Chery lol.Nice review Dimitri.

      Thanks mate. My only problem with Omoda 5 is that it's small.

    Since i test drove omoda 5 ex 2024 version few days ago and i can’t stop thinking about this futuristic compact suv in this price range 30k with amazing features. For me it stands out in terms of design and interior with great features.
    The only downside:
    - Resale after few years
    - Lane keep assist issues as reported by some drivers
    - reports of broken axles in south africa and malaysia

    • @ValueCarsAU
      @ValueCarsAU  Місяць тому +1

      How do you find build quality? Test drive is nice, but if you drive it repeatedly or spend more time in it, surely you notice cheaper connection between plastic panels and (some) creaking as you drive?

      @@ValueCarsAU yeah you are right and it is a grey area to look for as well.

    tbh in cherry products including this one with the 1.6 engine and their dct. it actually has some kick and some nice acceleration to it. which makes it really close competitor to other brands. the only matter in question is long term reliability in my opinion

    • @ValueCarsAU
      @ValueCarsAU  5 місяців тому +1

      I agree. It feels more fun and punchy to drive for sure. Long-term reliability - only time will tell. No one else, not me, not some other channel would be able to conclusively say if this build will last a long time.

      @@ValueCarsAU where i live with the experience people had with chinese cars even old models like chery a13 or like jac j5 for example. usually chinese cars were kinda ok on the engine part. basically if you service it on time it can work a decent time. but the biggest problem with chinese car were and still are the transmissions. the cvt or early dct gearboxes they have. are really bad. not good shifting plus they can barely reach 80k or 100k kilometers of work. always something would go wrong with their transmissions

    I had a test-drive of one today and was really impressed with everything that the car offered, and was seriously considering buying it, but was very disappointed with the amount of road-noise when driving. Short distances around town would have been fine but not for long distances, the sound would be unacceptable. If the manufacturer could fix this problem, I would definitely buy one. Also, the wind-noise around the side mirrors was noticeable.

    • @ValueCarsAU
      @ValueCarsAU  2 місяці тому +1

      Yep road noise, generally flimsy build quality that you notice over time and after a while of looking at a few of these, but initially and short-burst drives around town, it's great.

    The only comment i can make is that the rear windows are becoming way to narrow, sure you have a camera but when its raining the lens gets covered with water, so unusable. The other point is with the seats, WHY cant they have adjustment for under thigh support and i really wish they would realise these are not race cars and need much softer seats. In Australia we travel long distances and the are not designed for that.

      I completely agree, not practical at all. But funky for city driving (it's only real use, to be honest)

    Don't you guys have a Tiggo 8 Pro Max in Australia?

    • @ValueCarsAU
      @ValueCarsAU  2 місяці тому

      Recently they've added it to a line-up here, but how is it related to the topic of this video?

    • @Mannys_World
      @Mannys_World 2 місяці тому

      @ValueCarsAU You mentioned that if there was more space at the back, then it would be a no-brainer. Since Omoda is basically a Chery, the Tiggo 8 Pro Max would be a bigger version without sacrificing performance or luxury. That was basically my thought process behind my comment.

    Is there a lot of difference from the EX to the GT? Has the rear view mirror improved??

    • @ValueCarsAU

      No geometry or visibility improvements from what I could see. It's mostly in the engine and performance department.

      @@Kerri3311The engine, gearbox, and rear wheel suspension structure have all been upgraded. It also has an awd four-wheel drive system. The improvements in gt and ex are huge. If you have enough funds, buy gt, or wait another month to buy jaecoo j7
