pedal on right is forward left pedal is reverse, choose direction with one pedal and the stick is like a steering brake push right and and it turns right and vice versa
The boss rolls up to the foreman lounging in a hammock; "Are they working today?" Foreman just glances over at the field, noting the turbo roaring to beat the band and enough black smoke to piss off the Sierra Club.... "Aye, that they are."
You could hear that turbo and tell that's a big motor. It's probably just something in the control valve why the bucket don't want to curl or packing inside the bucket cylinder needs to be repacked. Good looking machine though.
Put a lot of hours in on those old 235's, hated the single stick for traveling and a lot of other things about them but good machines . those things were under load when the pumps kicked in. Had the same problem with bucket curling, it stopped because it was trying to go both ways at same time, I know they rewired it and changed valve and it fixed it and the other gremlins it had.Last 1 I ran with a hammer they used to push me around with a 992 because the tracks were so bad it wouldn't travel.
Learn Something new every day . I Never knew Cat made a 235 ME . Wonder if it's a problem with a valve ? That 3306 Cat is Rolling some Coal . I Put my fair share of time on 215's & 225' Cats . Never was crazy about the travel Stick in the center of the floor .
They were a good machine at one time and I still think they are but to find one in good condition these days can be tough. I always like the steering stick always found it funny that some people couldn't handle it.
That thing sounds good, definitely ain't no regeneration or def fluid bull shit on those. Although I love my new F series model excavator I do wish I could hear the motor and turbo whine a little bit harder!!
Boy do I have memories of 1 of these "cats" ! Perspex windows, instead of a proper seat, the owner (my boss) put a cheap crane seat in it, hydraulic oil on the cab floor as it CONTINUOSLY leaked hydraulic oil, tracks came off on a REGULAR basis, but would it break down ???? NO WAY JOSE, IT KEPT GOING AND GOING unfortunately !!!!!!
Nice video ! CAT excavators are awesome , but this good ol‘ piece of iron needs some serious overhaul before it‘s put to work, ‘cause it looks like it‘s been there for a while .
Should've asked with reply below but given something that old and the risk of repair, what can you figure to get for scrap if the thing just can't be made to work? The yards around here are saying $2.25 to $3.00 per hundred. That seems low. Would there be a specialized yard that gives decent money for the old stuff? And given the cost of transport as well. How do ya'll figure a floor if the thing is scrap?
That bucket curl cylinder not working ? I notice too, that he didn't raise the tracks and check forward and back rotation . With the amount of fuel that'll go through in a day, it's going to be an expensive unit to operate. If that were a truck, it would be in the region of some 402,000 miles on it !!! I'm thinking Charlie better look long and hard at this before he lays down his hard earned cash on this one.
Wouldn't say burning oil from that black smoke but she seems a bit low on power. I would start with fuel and air filters and go from there if it were mine. With 13k hours it probably a bit tired haha.
Matthew Massaro, exactly right there, but it shouldn't be blowing that much smoke after the turbo is spooled up. Bad match or completely worn out engine? Hard to believe it came from the factory smoking like that, but those may have been 'not so green' then days? Tired ole girl needs some TLC -- STAT.
gosh i dont miss those ol ragedy fuckers . use to run 235 and 245 in a limestone quarry hammer on 235. Fucking track motors were so weak had to turn with the boom scrubbing the ground lol. but once it was set it was a digging fool . had an 8.5 yd bucket and had a hell of a counter weight with a longer stick and boom . Ran the same 245"machine when it was nice on a pipline job setting 35k# lift stations . thanks
There is nothing wrong with jd controls it's all What you learn on. Our company all runs John Deere controls on John Deere excavators . Any one who thinks the controls make an operator is just a cat fan boy . I used to run cat then I switched to John Deere because it's actually logical with the movements you input . When our operators can dig surfaces within a quarter inch of level is sand or clay I'm impressed .

Man what a beast. I miss when equipment sounded like that.
I can Smell the Exhaust..cough..hack..luv it.
Ever cleaned the air filter?
A beautiful engine sound.
How does the 1 travel stick work ? Never ran 1 of these. I bet that thing is a beast when mechanically sound
As long as the diesel was clean, the smallest bit of crap and they would splutter like a granny on 40 Marlboro a day
pedal on right is forward left pedal is reverse, choose direction with one pedal and the stick is like a steering brake push right and and it turns right and vice versa
Love how you cleared your throat
good seeing Charlie again....heck of a guy he is.
Beauty of a beast!
When cat made a machine that would last
😂
Charlie likes his antiques that's for sure, new and trendy isn't in his vocabulary, he's a good man he makes money with the old iron.
The boss rolls up to the foreman lounging in a hammock; "Are they working today?" Foreman just glances over at the field, noting the turbo roaring to beat the band and enough black smoke to piss off the Sierra Club....
"Aye, that they are."
Thats funny

3306 Cat engine 638 cubes
Nope☻ I'm your resident know it all at your service 24/7
jim smith What rain?
I'll wager the cylinder shop will look at that piece of crap and wonder what landfill you dug that out of....
@@Nighthawke70 bull shit that thing is better than the next gen cat bull shit
Eco friendly 😂😂😂 Awesome machine 💪🏼
i operate the same model over 3years is one of the best escavator from CAT never die
They would out dig anything back in the day.
Where is it and how much ???
Pretty rare machine!..not many ME 235’s around!
Just a quick question. Will it track around or is it not able to move
What size bucket is that?
My kind or excavator, big, loud, and she blows soot
That soot is $$$ going up in smoke.
I’m guessing it’s not a teir-4 😛
that thing looks like it has/had some sack back in the day. I'd take at the right price
Looks good for that many hours, tell Charlie he needs to put more videos on UA-cam
Ive been working on a job where no pictures or video are allowed. Been there a year and a half.
+copperheadmarine I understand, just curious
Excellent work, Charlie.
Was this a purchase?
First I've heard of a 235 being a mass excavator. Thought the 245's were the only ones made ME's.
It indeed surprised me to.
Put a lot of hours in on those old 235's, hated the single stick for traveling and a lot of other things about them but good machines . those things were under load when the pumps kicked in. yeah its kind of awkward if you have to use the boom to pull you while you track and then have to turn you have to hit it with your leg
bad switch in the stick or what you thinking
Just had a thought, the hydraulic suction filter could be blocked... That usually slows things down a bit..
They were a good machine at one time and I still think they are but to find one in good condition these days can be tough. I always like the steering stick always found it funny that some people couldn't handle it.
bert26a bh
best steering system ever fitted to an excavator why they ever dropped it I don't know just my.02c worth
New Excavator ?
He bought this one didnt he?
Little bit of work itd be ok.
Charlie has a few c series cats.
does it need all that revs..? It's stalling in the dig..
Useful old beast.
I love old industrial equipment especially massey ferguson thought you don't see to much of that now.
That thing sounds good, definitely ain't no regeneration or def fluid bull shit on those. Although I love my new F series model excavator I do wish I could hear the motor and turbo whine a little bit harder!!
A lot of it is actually lost to damping, because emission is not just exhaust but also, sound. But i agree, a Straight Piped 235 sounds awesome.
Did you call before you dug?

how about a video on buying equipment?
knew charlie was going to be involved
No shortage of them old Cats in your area!
if charlie is around there will always be one

Man all the hate just cuz she's old. Seemed pretty strong to hog Dirt without any bucket curl. Try that with a new machine.....
Good ole service days as a field service tech...was fun back then...no laptop..no c.e.l.
EH she just needs some tlc boys! good Ole girl rite there!!

She's got it where it counts 😍
Cat is smoking very much, burning oil, what do you think Chris 😊
Wouldn't say burning oil from that black smoke but she seems a bit low on power. I would start with fuel and air filters and go from there if it were mine. With 13k hours it probably a bit tired haha.
black smoke is not burning oil its un burnt fuel.

13k hours is just broke in for him, all his 225's have over 20k hrs
its power! lol
Man that’s got a short boom and a big bucket
Tell Charlie to get back on his own channel and put something up!.
What is charlie's channel?
+FLIKRxPro what is it
+FLIKRxPro copperheadmarine

thanks
I think I would pass on that one. There are always other deals around.
235 Mass Ex? Somewhere Vantagetes is having a good chuckle.
need some work done on the motor it seemed to work real hard just lifting the bucket and boom and the black smoke is not good $$$$$
I agree I have ran a few 200 series cats and always hated the wobble stick travel control.
Tony Beets would love it
Simon Richard or Todd haufman
Simon Richard 😂 yeah for this dredge
josh suddeth parker schnabel 😂
todd is fat
The old gril seems awful tired.

Probably needs a valve job done and the turbo checked
Oldie but goodie
nuthing runs like a cat
Not a lot of fun to run on a daily basis but that old iron is cool as fuck
Cat's version of a 235 is a 450 by most standards.
that load the truck up quick
Fuck was he trying to do? Ive been working on this shit for 12 years now. Hard fuckin work keeping these things going.
What became of the old CAT?
She is a old girl.
I'd say the ole girl has hogged all the dirt she can handle. Rare find to be in such a shitty place like Lumberton though
fuel milage measured in GPM? lol!
love the sound of that thing, bad @ss
Jeeez, that is a big one.
I'm thunkn' she dropped a cylinder or 3 ??? 😑😐 Ever find out ?? 😶🙄😣😥
why only 13K hours on it?
we got a 324D what alrady have 18k Hours .... this machines need to work man
R1 ́Maniac k
R1 ́Mania
He must run John Deere controls lol
Jordan Paul thought the same thing. Nice

@@brandonb1118 i was taught on cat controls i can run jd but i wouldnt trust myself around utilities
valve bank maybe??
Has he never run an excavator?
That thing is worn out and the bucket won't move
Something is wrong with valve bank.
Looks like it don't work
how
Here that ol kiddy cat a Perrin
It smokes and drinks and some times it f...cks up....... just like it's ovner .-) LOL
deal or not that's one tired cat
I think his life goal should be a 245 lol
The only Cat Mass Excavator of thar generation of machines was the 245. By today’s standards it wouldn’t qualify for the ME name.
Rolling coal
Good Good
Ow com the bucket ain't curling
impressive!
good lord. that machine needs some work. still OK though
oh boy.. shes tired...
Filters are gone
she needs some love. wouldnt offer too much for that baby though.
Money pit Chris.
