I loving the way we are getting to engage with drivers recently. For me this is shaping up to be one of the best motor sport seasons in a long time. Not just because of the great racing, but finally once again feeling like we are getting to know the driver's behind the wheel. Looking forward to your next outing, fingers crossed for a podium for you guys.
Thank you 😊 , we really do appreciate the support and all the well wishes we have had. Motorsport is tough going sometimes so knowing we have people sending us good vibes and wanting us to do well really keeps us going 🏁
You are gonna be a superstar racer one day I can feel it. You have the right attitude, determination, and you already have great skills and muscle memory. Sponsors, you are crazy if you pass up on a chance like Jem.
It's so great to see a Real Racing Driver and their behind the scenes, really hope you do get a drive in F3.. you've got the right "Drive" to win...keep it up Jem... my newest favourite British driver!
Jimmy: Hey Jem, check out this £7 grand sim setup I've got. Jem: Awesome, you should come out to the £2 mil rig that I've booked a day at... Got to say, I really enjoy how smiley and enthusiastic Jem is, I hope that never changes and fingers crossed for that F3 drive some day soon.
@10:16 The timing of when he said Power” on the chicane, I thought certainly you would spin out, it seemed-purposely done to get the car to slightly spin the car into direction ? Or perhaps I’m just crazy, but that’s what it looked like,. If so, that was brilliant technique and finess I never noticed. I spin out stepping on the power that early. ( in a sim racer obviously)
W-Series would be a great way to get into an F3. I love the insight of your videos, the work with engineers, the coaching is something we don’t get to see often. Also the picture quality is very professional. Keep it up!
yeah, alright push for the podium this time. Wish you all the luck you need. I'd appreciate you both winning the series even if its only your class. you two are the cutest team at praga. run, run, run.
Is there any motion aspect in the sim? It seems static, and I am slightly struggling to see what could have cost 2 million pounds on it. In terms of software, I think rF2 does have some sort of commercial licence, but hard to tell whether they purchased it when they didn't even spend 300 USD on commercial licence on Z1 telemetry app. And in terms of hardware, the wheel/pedals and PC to run rF2 will be all within 10k GBP easily (and that's probably too much). Hard to tell how much the projector setup costs, could be relatively expensive, but for sure not in hundreds of thousands pounds. The car chassis could have some value, but it's quite a superficial aspect. When Jimmy drove the DTM sim of the BMW factory DTM team, it was supposedly roughly 1mil GBP sim, and there you could really see it. It was DTM chassis on sophisticated motion platform, running custom rFPro based software. On this sim, if they are saying it cost 2mil GBP, it doesn't seem very realistic to be honest. I'd be pretty surprised if it was anywhere close to 500k (most of the cost probably in that Dallara chassis, which is ultimately quite unimportant).
Although it's a bit weird how he's measuring the realism by comparing lap times, which is one of the least relevant metrics. You could set up Codemasters F1 game to have exact same lap times as reality and it still wouldn't make it more realistic in terms of mechanics. Especially since they don't have any super advanced commercial sim to work with, but just rFactor 2, which in itself has got plenty of physics quirks to make 1:1 lap time comparisons pretty irrelevant.
@@panvlk Yeah I kinda just assumed that there would be other metrics they're using to confirm the reliability of the sim that he didn't mention for whatever reason. Things like pedal and steering input, otherwise as you said, just laptime would be a poor measure to use
The graphics on that sim were much better than I was expecting, they're usually a bit behind gaming level but that was like watching in car footage. The crack in the wall would drive me nuts though.
After Jimmy trashtalking that home rig, I was expecting G29 clamped on the table, but this is actually a very nice setup:). Screens should probably be a bit closer and the sidescreens at sharper angle, but it's still pretty solid.
I notice that you compare the brakes, power and gears of the sim to those in the Praga, but how does the downforce compare? I can't even guess, because, on the one hand, F3 is one of the feeder formulas for F1; but, on the other hand, the Praga is a prototype and has some similarities to an LMP car.
It's interesting that you stamp 100% on the brakes then ease off to 80%.. Very different from the progressive braking we aim for on the road. How come you don't lock up? Do you do this to heat the brakes up to some optimal temperature?
That's exactly what I've learned in real life racing lessons. Has not much to do with heat but with dynamic weight transfer and tyre lockup prevention. The faster the wheels are still turning the less probability you have for blocking the tyres (rotation inertia). When they turn slower while entering the corner you need to ease the brakes to prevent blocking and turn-in-understeer (because of too much weight transfer to the front). This concept is called "trail braking".
@@crunch8484 It's also more important in high downforce cars, since you need to maximize the braking during the phase in which you have the highest grip - which is when you're going fastest and aero is pushing you to the road most.
This is awesome, I’m from Manchester. But I live in Cheshire now, only 10 mins away from oulton. I’m going there for the MSVR this Saturday. When are you going to be there?
It's very likely rF2. rFPro split from the original rFactor a long time ago and is completely different product by now. Also the track is the rF2 version.
@@OutriderFIN yeah, exactly, just made a post about that weird amount myself. There's not a whole lot on the sim that could bring the cost anywhere close to that. They are even using the home only licence for Z1 instead of spending 300 bucks on the commercial licence.:-D
wait there's a few million pound sim place in banbury? i've literally lived here for 9 years and i had thought there was nothing interesting here, and now i'm moving away, great.
"Arden International is a multiple formula racing team created and run by Christian Horner and Garry Horner. It currently runs teams in the Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 and F4 British Championship, and formerly ran in the FIA Formula 2 Championship and GP3 Series." You'd think they can afford a commercial licence, and really should have one!
I think rFactor Pro split from the original rFactor a long time ago and by now is basically completely different product, so I doubt it would be using rF2 HUD. I would say it's rF2 with 99% certainty.
@@_Dibbler_ Some of the newer tracks look very good in rF2. Plus here a lot of potential technical defficiencies are being hidden by the image being projected on canvas and whole thing being recorded on camera.
