Loving your vids, I also have the feeling of leaving a place and feeling different, or a shift of energy. That subtlety you raise is a real phenomenon. Look forward to more and thanks for sharing these adventures, just beautiful ❤
Just returned from a week in South west Ireland. We spent a day on the back roads, being Glenbeigh, searching for rock art marked on our walkers map. Some we found relatively easy, some we never found at all or there was too much vegetation to get close, some had been deliberately covered with piles of smaller stones so you couldn't see them- not sure if this was protection or protest! But the best thing was enjoying the glorious landscape, huge valleys and hills, silence, the light and sudden low clouds drifting over. Beautiful.
Thanks for dropping me a line, Eileen. I'm glad you got some value out of the video. Some of the tips, like when to take your pictures, came after we visited so many of these sites and came to the conclusion that there are definitely ways to make the experience stand out even more. And other ways to just let it slip away 😊. As with so many things, it is what you make of it!
That is great to hear! Yes, Ireland is something special. You do have to get out of the big cities like Dublin and Cork, but once out West, it is positively breath-taking. If you are interested, I did another video you might enjoy for your own visit, with my best tip to take along to Ireland, to really make it a trip of lifetime. Glad you enjoyed the video, Happe! October is one of my absolute favorite months in Ireland, as the weather starts to get gritty, and the landscape starts to change to deep bronze colours, but you can still get quite a few gorgeous days!
Hello, it's wonderful I found this Channel. I will visit Ireland in September and I'm wondering if by any chance is there any place in which I can see the Ceili dance in Ireland? Any event or maybe in a Pub or something, I really would love to see that live.
Thanks for dropping me a line! Ireland is absolutely littered with megalithic monuments, one of them being these ancient Standing Stones. I checked out your channel and you guys seem to be into activity :) - this is a fantastic destination for a walk or outdoor adventure. Highly recommended!
@Marten Jesse Pot Be aware though. Many an archaeologist goes into these mountains and somehow lose their degree on their way back down and come out as a transformed hippy. I *might* have some experience in that particular process... 😂
The last time we were in Ireland a farmer told us he thought that when all the smaller stones/rocks were cleared to make borders, fences and roads (because there was just so many of them) that his personal opinion was that some of the stones were just too big to move so they got left there. His opinion wasn't very popular. But it was interesting ..
I love people thinking for themselves - so kudos to said farmer! When you drive around here, you certainly do see a lot of strange structures in fields. In an effort to clear up fields and have more arable land to work with, a lot of stones were often put on top of one another. You now look at them and go like... is that a cairn? Is that a dolmen? Naaah, it is just farmers trying to make some space. Your farmers explanation wouldn't be far from that train of thought - very practical in nature! A few counter arguments would be that Standing Stones don't necessarily have to be huge. There are a lot around here that are smaller than 1 meter tall! Or standing in a field that is still littered with other rocks. Dating -for so far possible- usually also points to dates much, much older than field systems or boundary walls. However, as with everything in the ancient past, a lot has happened, and humans can -and will- do anything. So, I'm certainly not discounting your farmers ideas. He might even be right in a few cases! Thanks for adding that, I hugely appreciate it :) Hope you get to visit Ireland again soon!
i want to rent an airbnb for about 1 month or longer to experience the beauty of ireland. Hey can you do a vid on your Schott leather jacket, so awesome im thinking of getting one just so expensive.
AirBnBs are a great way to see the country and stay local, go for it! Regarding the leather jacket, it is not really inline with the rest of the channel, but I'll definitely keep wearing it during my videos. It is just awesome and everything I hoped it would be. I highly recommend it to anyone who's thinking of getting one!

@@rflanaganagan8489 So happy that you left that comment as a local, Robert! I love the local knowledge of the people who have grown up with these things in their backyard. It reminds me of what the people in Caherdaniel (Kerry) say about the Stone Rows there, pointing towards the copper mines. Always, always listen to the locals, there is more knowledge there than you might think! Yes - the more you look into Irish megaliths, the more the sun-worship or at the very least celestial alignments become clear, just like you said. The thing is, this is far easier to say with a Stone Circle, or a Stone Row, then with a single Standing Stone (again "a single stone mocks understanding"). With the bigger monuments, you can see directions, where things are pointing to, etc. With just 1 Stone, directions become difficult as you can stand to each side of the Stone and imagine it is pointing in a certain direction. That's why I just left it at possible astronomical alignments with Stone Rows specifically. Still, the fact that we now have a hard time figuring out what exactly they were used for, doesn't mean that the astronomical alignment isn't an option. It just means that we have a hard time proving that :). Thanks again for the comment, keep them coming!
