I was at the concert! Was so Awesome, they sang all their best songs. Even though I grew up on Steve Perry and love him. This guy is a totally Awesome singer and is an Incredible replacement. ❤ Thanks for sharing and was glad I went to see them live.
Arnel is an incredible talent. In the past ten years, he's breathed life back into these songs. He's brought back the energy once held by the greatest vocalist of our time, Steve Perry. He accomplished what I and the rest of the Journey fans considered impossible. When Steve Perry walked off that stage for the last time, I figured that was it. The Journey was over. Arnel proved me wrong. But after listering to his performance in this video, it's painfully obvious his voice is strained. He's having difficulty hitting the higher registers, which stands to reason. After ten years, night after night, singing these songs that most performers of today and yesterday can only dream of accomplishing, it's going to take its toll. He needs to step down for a bit. His voice needs time to heal. I just hope the members of the band recognize this and do what's right instead of working him to the point of no return - in the name of greed. Arnel is a gift. You may never find another one like him - guys, so treat him right. God Bless.
Arnel is a man and the captain. of his own destiny. I give him the credit of knowing what is best for him. I trust he will take time to recharge after this tour but it seems he is a workaholic and is planing a solo tour. I wish him happiness, health and peace

That’s why Perry will never return to Journey. It’s easy to change guitars. It’s not easy to change vocal chords....

Arnel was already singing for 25 years before journey discovered him. Now hes w/ journey for more than a decade. Maybe that's the reason why his vocals got strained a lil' bit but still he's the best😍

I read all yr beautiful comments and as a AP's fan and a co-filipino am very much grateful to all of you out there with your concerns on Arnel's voice. Am sure it's him who approved of a straight heavy concert load. As he's just getting old and time is quite an essence that he's got to earn more for his family. So God gave him an opportunity/door that will bring him to stardom. This is very seldom given to few so why not grab it until he can. Steve Perry quitted. A Pity for him. He can just rested in those yrs. Finally he came bck but he's old already.

It would be amazing..but..I don't think Steve could hit the notes for Journey songs anymore. Steve is close to 70 now, and his voice is lower and a tad bit raspy.

I went to the ATT/SF concert and the sound wasn't good, seemed like they blew out something prior to the Def Leppard opening and they couldn't adjust the sound board/mix. Hopefully Journey sounded great at Sacramento. Seems like the crowd was loving Arnel :)

Steve P snd Arnel P. Both are equally good. Steve contributed to the fame a lot and Arnel made the Journey sustained its glory. And it's a collective efforts UP to this point. Every single Journey member has been fantastic and awesome. The band leader Neal Schon is truly magnificent the drummer Smith a legend the keyboardist Cain one of a kind and last but not the least The best known bass player Ross Valory rocksteady
They should have given them more and longer guitar solos, as clearly, the people wanted this, and that part was a s good as ever, it seems. Either Arnel can't project his voice as well as Steve could, or they really, need to do something about those microphones. This is the second video where I could hardly, hear Arnel, but I don't want it the other way either, where his voice downs out everything else. There needs to be good balance. They had it years ago they can have it again. My Old School, Retro, Best. Out.
Arnel is a great singer but I feel sorry for him singing someone else's songs for a whole show. It's a shame because he's in a tough spot as they don't put out anymore new material with him on vocals so he's forced to sing the old hits the whole show. I know the old Perry songs are what they are known for but it has to be tough for him as an artist, I'm sure the check it nice though
That's not exactly true. Journey has released two albums with Arnel as the lead singer: Revelation in 2008 and Eclipse in 2011. Neither album produced any hits however which is probably why they rarely sing songs from them in concert
