Absolutely beautiful! My advice for McCarthy Road would be to slow down. LOL. I did about 25mph and it was no problem. Of course, it changes from day to day.
@@TrueNorthCamping Saw an episode of myth busters that tested different speeds over rough train tracks, turned out going faster made for a smoother ride. I'm guessing that's the same principle as speeding up to 40mph on McCarthy. Brilliant, yet we'll take the shuttle if I can talk the Mrs. into going next summer. :)
Great video! We did this adventure this past June. We went to Valdez, but did not know about McCarthy. We travelled with our truck and truck camper. We loved this trip so much and really hope to do it again!
Thanks so much Doug, its genuinely appreciated! Heres hoping your trip up is awesome! And just an fyi: Our next episode on Valdez should come out tomorrow if all goes well.
I've really enjoyed the videos you've posted so far and I'm looking forward to seeing all 12 episodes. The photograph and videos are very well done which makes me want to ask what kind of photo/video equipment you took along on your trip. I've been shooting a Canon 7d dSLR for quite a few years now and I'm finding it's becoming much to heavy for me to drag around when we travel, so I'm hoping to find something smaller and lighter in weight.
Thanks very much Al, We’re glad you’re enjoying them! As far as a camera goes, we used a Sony a6000 which is quite a bit smaller than your Canon I believe (tho Im no expert). And there’s also quite a bit simply shot on our cell phones. Hope this helps.
Thanks for sharing your adventures. My wife and I, with another couple traveled from Upper Peninsula of Mich to Alaska. The whole trip was fantastic. Had the truck break down a couple of times but was able to get back home with it. The MaCarthy road was by far the roughest road we took throughout the complete trip. It took us 3 1/2 hours to drive our truck down it. Beautiful drive but didn't leave much time in McCarthy and the mine site. The Valdez road was not very good either. Lots of frost heaves, but one of the most beautiful drives of the trip. Looking forward to getting to the remaining videos. Thanks again. Why did'nt you come across the US for the cheaper gas prices?
Thanks so much Koslund. Sorry to hear about your truck problems but glad it didnt stop you from having a great trip! As for why drive across Canada rather than through the northern states - well youre right, the gas is more expensive, but we had never done it before and really wanted to see that part of Canada. We had visited BC, Alberta and Saskatchewan previously but it was by air - so this really let us get to see the country.
Can't thank you enough for these videos, just wonderful information!
You are most welcome! Thank you for your kind feedback and have a wonderful trip!

your story related to me as we were there in 2021. We drive to Chicken from Tok.
Well narrated. Very informative. Look forward to more. Thank you. Enjoy your trip.
