OEM Part Number for Arm Sub-Assy, Front Suspension, Lower No.1 Rh 48068-02160
1. In automotive suspension, a control arm, also known as an A-arm, is a hinged suspension link between the chassis and the suspension upright or hub that carries the wheel.
The inboard (chassis) end of a control arm is attached by a single pivot, usually a rubber bushing. It can thus control the position of the outboard end in only a single degree of freedom, maintaining the radial distance from the inboard mount. Although not deliberately free to move, the single bushing does not control the arm from moving back and forth; this motion is constrained by a separate link or radius rod.
This is in contrast to the wishbone. Wishbones are triangular and have two widely spaced inboard bearings. These constrain the outboard end of the wishbone from moving back and forth, controlling two degrees of freedom, and without requiring additional links.
Most control arms form the lower link of a suspension. A few designs use them as the upper link, usually with a lower wishbone. The additional radius rod is then attached to the upper arm.
2. What are the symptoms of a bad control arm?
Usually a problematic control arm assembly will produce a few symptoms that can alert the driver of a potential problem that should be serviced.
a. Steering wheel vibration. One of the first symptoms commonly associated with bad control arms is steering wheel vibrations. ...
b. Steering wandering. ...
c. Clunking noises.
3. Is driving with a bad control arm dangerous?
While a bad control arm bushing is not dangerous, it can still hamper your driving experience. ... One such component is the control arm, which is mostly found in the front wheels, though some trucks and cars have it in the rear ones too. It connects the front suspension of the vehicle to its frame.
4. Can I drive with broken control arm?
In some cars, a ball joint is bolted to or pressed into the control arm and can be replaced separately. ... Control arms have a very important role holding both front wheels on the road. If a control arm is excessively worn, damaged or bent, the vehicle is NOT SAFE to drive.
5. Is it OK to replace only one control arm?
Yes, you can replace just one control arm. The ball joints are integrated; don't reuse them. Yes. But you can't reuse the stock bushing.
6. How much does it cost to replace a control arm?
The control arm should be repaired or replaced as soon as there's any sign of damage, and control arm replacements costs are typically $117 - $306 for the majority of vehicles. The part itself will normally cost between $42 - $103, with labor time usually an hour or two. - Авто та транспорт

Hei sir,i want change my bushing arm,but the nut from the front lower arm cant released. What should i do?
Nice job. I’m about to do this myself. Mine is going to be quite a pain. I have a 2001 and it is quite rusty.
I wish you good luck and all goes well. You should use an anti-rust to remove it and before putting the new one in place you should thoroughly clean the areas where it fits.
If that area is very rusty then you can paint it
Thank you for the tip. I appreciate it and will do that.

Help !!, I am replacing the 2015 Corolla ARM right, but there is a screw that sticks where the engine oil filter goes, I do not accept the idea that I will have to disassemble more large parts of the car to be able to remove that screw, someone knows the solution?
ohh it may not pass thru the the top due to the frame in the way... hmmm?
We cannot get the right control arm for the front here anymore. Can a metalworks, or engineering place fix the old one? Not sure what the brushes look like? Help?
Pull oil filter housing on 09. Have o rings available
👍👍
Thank's
Where is the CV joint and axel? They have to be removed otherwise it's not possible. Don't seem to locate axel in video. Strange.
My friend, pay more attention to the video. The CV axle has an inboard joint on the transmission side of the axle, as well as an outboard universal joint on the wheel side of the axle. Both of these joints are protected by a rubber cover called a CV boot.

Did you have to remove any parts before taking off the control arm? To make room for the bolts to clear?
No, my friend you don't need to remove other parts (to have more room for the control arm bolts). That's are enough!
On 09 you do!
Wat size bolt was that on the screw u use the breaker bar with
It is 22 mm socket for this bolt my friend
Was it driver's side or passenger side control arm that u removed in the video?
It's on the driver's side my friend
This video mislead a important info the automatic transmission car the front bolt don't have space to be removed has to lower the subframe
I am also facing this problem asked mechanic he said.
remove all Transmission foundation bolts jackup the Transmission & remove arm frount bolt .... It is very defficult
What lower control arm have to do with transmission?
Transmission sits in front of bolt that needs to be removed. you could drop the subframe but poor design on this bolt location.
@@qasimbaloch810 do you mean like all the mounts to the transmission?
What about the passenger side? Do I still have to drop the entire subframe?
What was wrong with your lower control arm? Why did you replace it. I have some rattle at low speeds when I go over a bump.
I don't have any problem with my control arm. Just i showed the way to replace it. Ckeck the bushings condition of your control arms.
Bent maybe...
Can I get a list of all the tools I will need including socket sizes
Yes, you can do it
Sockets 17mm for nuts and bolt at ball joint area, 19mm for sub frame bolts, Long 19mm wrench for sub frame bolt nut, 21mm for wheel lugs, Soft dead blow hammer and pry bars for massaging the arm out.
14..19..17& 21
I noticed he installed the bolt on the arm from the bottom up.. should put the bolt in from the top !! think about it????
No, you can not do this
You can’t do it the other way, not sure what your saying or asking.
What are the bolt sizes on the controll arm
My friend the 2 long bolts are 22 mm and the other 17 mm (2 nuts and 1 bolt)
I have 1 similar video

What exactly do you mean;

Did you really lift the car by rotor ??
I lifted the car with the jack and fixed it with the jack stand
Yiannis Pagonis I know but where you put the jack? On rotor or somewhere else
@@tteuvky Listen what I did my friend: first I lifted my car with the jack then I put the stand on but then I took out the jack to use it to lift the rotor. Now you understand what I did?

Bad replacement. You should tightened the suspension arm after u move the car down.
There's a note in the Beck and Arnley box that says to do that; I wouldn't have known otherwise. Ugh, not looking forward to doing this on my 1999 corolla. I have a feeling it's going to be a pain.
I think what you are trying to say is that the bushing bolts should just be put in. Then the jack should have been removed from under the disk. Then the ball joint re attached. Only after all this THEN tighten the Bushing bolts. In the video the bushing bolts were tightened first in the wrong position.
Just preload the bushings by jacking control arm to ride height. No need to put the wheels on to do that
Did you not need a alignment after this yiannis
john hennessy no i did not my friend
Yiannis Pagonis a it's just I need to replace my left one can you just replace just one my car only has 20.000k on it but I was told I need a alignment after it is replaced
yes you can replace just one on your car not two of them
There’s no transmission. If it had a trans. It would keep the front bolt being removed.
Sub frame needs to be loosened and transmission pan jacked up slightly. All while prying down on the back end of the control arm. Two person job because of Toyotas crap design there.
Is this really as easy as it looks???
It also has its difficulties as long as you have a little talent, the right tools and enough appetite for work. Luck helps the brave.
@@YiannisPagonis Hi Mate! Thanks for the reply. I managed to replace it! I am so happy! Middle finger to the garage! :D

Top 5 Reasons a Lower Control Arm Bushing Fails
The lower control arm bushing can easily become damaged or worn out over the course of operating your vehicle. Once this happens, the suspension won’t be firmly connected to the frame anymore. Then you will have all kinds of problems with steering and maintaining a smooth driving experience.
To help prevent a lower control arm bushing from getting damaged, you should learn about the most common reasons for this to happen. Below are the top 5 reasons for why the lower control arm bushing gets like this.
1. Accidental Damage - A lower control arm bushing is a very small and fragile part of a vehicle. If you have an auto mechanic working on your vehicle, particularly the suspension, then they could easily damage the lower control arm bushing throughout the course of their work. If the bushing is already worn out from being too used and old, then it will be even easier for the bushing to get like this. Once that happens, you should hear some loud and annoying clunking sounds.
2. Wear and Tear - The lower control arm is put under stress each second you are driving your vehicle. The bushing of the lower control arm is put under even more stress because it must keep the arm attached to the frame. As you pack more miles onto your vehicle, the lower control arm bushing wears down excessively. It will eventually get to the point when small clunking noises can be heard. But this point, you know you have a damaged bushing which needs to be replaced.
3. Rocky Terrain - If you are frequently driving on rocky terrain or travel roads which do not have an even smooth surface, then your lower control arm and bushing are going to take a lot of abuse. This will eventually lead to the bushing becoming loosened from all the vibrations and roughness of the driving experience. The continued irregular motion will cause the bushing to knock around a lot and get damaged in the process.
4. Driving Off Too Quickly - If you are the type of driver that switches to the driving gear and then slams their foot on the gas pedal, you need to think about the consequences of such actions. Peeling away too quickly like this will put a lot of stress on your lower control arm and its bushing. If you do this too regularly, the bushing is going to loosen and will be knocked around inside the system.
5. Not Tightened Enough - The lower control arm bushing needs to be tightly fastened in order to stay strong and durable. If the bushing were to become loose, it would constantly knock into the metal components nearby and cause annoying clunking sounds to be heard. Sometimes the wear and tear driving can cause bushings to become loose. Other times, it could be a mechanic who forgot to tightly fasten the bushing back onto the control arm. In any event, the bushing will get damaged if it keeps knocking into those components.
This video WILL NOT WORK for a 2010 Corolla. I am finding this out 3 hours into the job, after everything has been removed except I can't get the front bolts out. On the driver's side, the transmission pan blocks the bolt from coming out. On the passenger side, the oil filter housing blocks the bolt. Please do not waste your time and effort to attempt this job unless you have time to drop the subframe or remove motor mounts to jack up the engine and trans.
Good job
Thanks
