As an Elite player from 35 years ago, we learned fast to get the autodock and use it. The times I had it and did hands on docking only to die was numerous. Concentration for the really important things in the game.
Great video! I do always manually dock, though. Mining is lots easier (and more fun) when you can use throttle, yaw, thrusters, pitch and roll all together. Constantly using docking to practice quickly and accurately going from where you are to a specific location and orientation builds up that skill.
the fluctuating blips on your minimap dont show warp signatures. they actually tell you that there is something there but your sensors cant make yout what it is. it could be a ship, cargo, a fsd wake or a dropped heatsink.
also hazardous resource sites dont spawn police so you should go to the high ones in the beginning
and finally you should really buy a bounty scanner and scann each ship before the kill to get a bigger reward
Thanks for the heads up!
Fantastic video! No bullshit, no messing around, just helpful and concise info. You deserve way more views!
Thanks!
Hey man, just wanted to extend sincere thanks and appreciation for your videos centered on the basics for new players. Incredibly informative and entertaining! Appreciate your tutorials
Best advice ever! got the Auto Docker.....man it used to take me almost the 9 minutes to dock! This is gold ! Cheers Man!
Any way to take that damn music off?
It helps a lot!
Noobie Snacks my pleasure brother.
Didn’t even know about the auto docker haha 9 mins? Damn been taking me at least that if not more haha
from dock granted to docking it only takes me like 3 minutes and im a noob...
Docking is part of what makes the game so enjoyable. I actually enjoy docking, I really like landing on a planet as well. I have never used a docking computer.
Great video, I’m new to the game and loving it but there’s a big learning curve and a lot of things to take on.. good video
This video taught me more than the in-game tutorials \o/
I actually flew to an ice ring, cause the metal one had resource sites in the planet shadow (very non-fun to fly in), npc miners and npc police appeared, and as described in this vid, I could piggy back on some System Authority Anacondas and in half an hour made a decent chunk of cash (around 120k) which is great result considering I fly the starter ship and I still suck at flying it with the FaceTrackNoIR setup to look around.
Thanks so much for this! Id tried playing this game before but didnt have a stick. and now I have one I felt id give it another go. I did find the game easier to control but I wasnt sure on how to efficiently make money and this helped so much!
Glad I could help!
Thank you very much for the suggestion of the docking computer. Docking has made me feel like an imbecile at times on this game. Now I don't have to worry about it anymore.
No problem!
Sometimes I think about starting a new profile just to experience starting from zero with my current knowledge again - then I realize it's stupid and go back to my 'conda.
2 years old but PRO-pro tip:
Gimbals are better than fixed.
Chaff throws off the targeting but if you’re using lasers anyway, you can just turn off your targeting and use them as fixed mounts. Fixed lasers just mean you have to line them up roughly in the center and they still autotarget to a very small degree (I used to fly a rail gun eagle). The damage is usually negligible but I don’t fly expensive ships, so I don’t have that knowledge. I’m in the Longrongpongyoui system saving for an outfitted conda these days
KommissarBanx hey brother thanks for the great tip! If you love bounty hunting you might enjoy the python, I just did a video on one. Check it out and let me know what you think :-)
Thanks for this. Truly the most helpful ED video for me so far.
+Juan Clark Thank you very very much! I am happy to help :)
My pleasure man!
Great videos man. I have learned a lot from this
Thanks!
Best thing to do when starting is do data transfers till u get auto docking
Nice, I'm going to try this as soon as Elite Dangerous is released on the PS4, not long now. Thank you.
:-) My pleasure!
love the music! very Kubric!
Thank you!
This is very great tips. Is this possible on solo play? and in any system?
Absolutely. I usually play solo/group. No time for being ganked :-P
Thank you, your vid helps a lot!!!
Subscribed u!
Thanks!
You only have to turn of lock with chaff and use weapons just like fixed weapons.
Thanks for the heads up!
Great explanation. Thank you for making this video
Excellent video. Thank you!
No worries!
This would be great but idk how to find stations I can outfit my ship in..
Just look for those ring stations or the even bigger ones, they usually have some good equipment available.
I don't have a problem with the basics of flight but NAVIGATION is a very contentious subject and the keys/video usage would be most useful:)
I understand the problem of a tutorial is your choice of keys and the viewers setup, so i would like to ask what keys do you use?
Your reply would be most appreciated, I must tell you I have the basic flight controls on my THRUSTMASTER HOTAS X but your Navigation/gear/fuel scoop and as you can guess other keyboard buttons would be most appreciated.
Thank you for your video and time, sir.
Does the ship scan automatically or is there a button press?
Thank you! This was very helpful
My pleasure!

I realise this is a two year old video and thing might have changed but I can't find docking computers or more weapons in the systems I check. Have they been removed or am I being stupid?
Only certain stations have them check out Inara website for info on finding them.
The docking computer is 4.500 a new player has no money and after they find out how impossible it is to dock the have already quit the game!!
One bounty is enough to get you your docking computer ;)
Thank you
My pleasure!
The $ sign started as pesos then the dollar used it too
i did this and i got a whole lot of money! but i died and when i checked my balanced when i respanwed in a new ship none of that money was there :( what do i do?
Nick Josef when you die you lose all your bounty vouchers
Yep. If you don't land and turn the vouchers in, you loose all of it. That's the risk-reward between how long you stay out there and how dangerous an area you hunt in.
Yep, when you lose your ship you lose your vouchers. There's a slight finesse in the art of staying alive in ED :-)
Hmm, my starting system doesn't have any rocky/metal ringed planets.. :(
Just do some searching, you'll find one :-)

Sooo.. once you've made hundreds of millions.. what do you do with it??? I mean.. I've already owned every ship I want... I don't really want a fleet carrier... sooo.. what next
You buy the most expensive stuff and rub it in your friends faces to show them how superior you are to them in every way.
This is not helpfull at all, its not possible to jump to that system from the starting point when you begin.
You can do it in any system.
This is considered rude etiquette no?
How so?
No its not rude at all...
