- Leap Year Full Game - an incredible game about discovery, I highly recommend any serious puzzle fan play this. Everything is a spoiler, because the a-ha moments are beautifully crafted and the level design is second to none. Leap Year is a game I'll think about for a long time.

Do you think Tyler ever realized holding shift was meant to help show you how many tiles you would fall?
I think he knew, he just didn't use it on cam much
He had it pretty figured out with sight alone it seemed like
Unlike the _other UA-camr who battles anything advancedly with the power of chess_ who tries to show off his _amazing sightreading skills_ by toggling it off
-no-
it's nice but pretty useless. you're going to solve every area with a little trial and error anyway

Funny
The end of the game be like: "And now you're playing VVVVVV"
Bro literally started playing vvvvvv lmfao it's so funny
Celeste?

super gravitron moment
the walking through spikes thing is ALSO a mechanic in spelunky! you can walk through spikes, you just can't fall onto them!
Wasn't this also with specific spikes in celeste? I remember that being with some
Also the first few Prince of Persia games. In the original game, IIRC, you specifically had to _walk_ through the spikes (using shift), not run through them. In the second, the spike traps were in walls, but you could still walk carefully up to the wall to trigger them, then climb up.
@@MidvightMirageit's kinda thé case with all spikes
If you go towards the direction the spikes are pointing to , they won't hurt you
@@olixx1213-- There are plenty of games where all spikes are instant death on any contact.

No spoilers but the end section shows how much though and detail was put into the world!
I love how Tyler has been playing more skill - based games recently, he's been showing he's not just all brains
I'm definitely keen for any platformer games, but pure platformers are often generic, so I try to search for the puzzley ones.
he's brain AND brawl 💪
@@Aliensrock personally i dont like pure platformers at all, but occasionally a good puzzle platformer interests me. my favourite by far is 'sometimes you die' but i believe it is mobile only
Tyler has beaten celeste chapter 1-8 even the side Bs, unfortunately didn't continue until chapter 9.
I really feel like shorter puzzle games are able to do pacing exceptionally well in how you learn them. It's way easier to introduce a concept and let the player experiment with it for that "A-ha!", with far less bloat of solving a puzzle with the exact same concept over and over again. This game really does a good job of quickly showing off new ideas of the core mechanic and giving the right level design for experimentation, without you feeling like you have to fumble and learn stuff by trial and error.
Damn! Giving 29 at the start of the level is smart. The whole puzzle will distract the players and make em forget. Even I forgot that it's been there all along.
Wow, really? I was surprised Tyler forgot, but figured it was understandable given it probably took him a few hours to finish the game. But you forgot within less than half an hour?
@@luisleongaming1776 Yeah, I did too. Was too busy hoping for the dragon to show up.

Honestly a masterpiece of game design. Everything being perfectly placed to teach you mechanics as it goes and also having every part od the game playable while UPSIDE DOWN. All crested to oerfectly guide the player back to the very start, but with everything flipped now.
This game feels like a proper "puzzle platformer", rather than a light puzzle game with platforming mechanics. Very cool!
Why did it take me until the end to understand the pun of "leap" day
Dw, me too
Mfer really heard "Sonic is increasing their prices because of inflation, look up Sonic Inflation to learn more" and learned more.
The version with pokemon cards is funnier, IMO. It's classic for a reason.
9:21 love the reference
That edit to make the camera transparent is so good. Every editor should be doing that. It's ahead of the game right now.
I love games where you return to previous areas that are recontextualized with new knowledge, so cool
"Inflation (sonic)" is wild
Personally I'd say "Inflation (Economy)" is even wilder
So happy you did a video on this game, it's so good!
9:40 Hey Patrick, I thought of something funnier than 24
This game could've been made at any time in the past 40 years on any computer system by an amateur programmer without art skills. No-one thought of it until now. Goes to show the power of creativity.
no one thought of what? it's not that unique
@@Blueybeakthat's what hyperteleXii just said :///
@@Blueybeakwell if it’s not unique show me another example of the same exact concept
1:38 - 1:40 and that kids….is why you don’t jump off tiny cliffs trying to interact with the birds 🤣🤣
Useful things you can say about this game without spoilers:
- puzzle platformer
- cute art style
- indie game
- short playtime
- satisfying
- it's a cool game
- mechanics are revealed one by one
seems weird to say "I can't talk about it without spoiling it"
it's just hook for a yt title, not that deep
such a cool well designed game, its crazy to think about us going back through the level not realizing the ceiling was also carefully crafted to be able to jump in reverse and overall so cool
Thanks for redirecting me to my second favorite puzzle game you have played
The starting level design is actually really cool, I'd guessed the last mechanic because of the stair case on the roof, the second level I was a bit disappointed though because I was guessing there was going to be things with the greyed out stairs.
Tyler please tell me you realize why the screen with "14" is the way it is
Dude has never celebrated Valentine's lol
@@luisleongaming1776 Is tyler single?
@@luisleongaming1776 damn I didn't get it either until i read this comment 😂
I figured it was valentines but I completely forgot feb 14 was that day lmao
we're gamers, none of know what Feb. 14th is. Also I noticed 24-25 were snowy and wonder if that's supposed to be a Christmas nod despite the game being about Feb.
OH my god, I just finished this game!! I was thinking the whole time "Man, I'd love to see Tyler play this." This is so sick~!
OMG, that's such an amazing game with unique concept with perfect map design. I wish i didn't watch the whole video and just play the game myself.
The grid button lets you know if a fall is enough to cause a bounce or a drill
This game is brilliant. Just the attention to every platform's height to be the perfect one to perform a specific action is impressive
That was actually amazing so nice!
1:57 “Hmmm what’s up with this block?…. OH I KNOW! I’ll jump and slam my head into it!!” *Jumps and proceeds to slam head into block and dies* “Hmmmmm…. Perhaps that was a terrible idea…” 🤣🤣
18:26 later revealed Tyler had the right idea all along lmao
This game is nice. so many fun twists
What a well-designed game
Also love how the linelith video and this one are the exact same length
When you were confused where you needed to go I was laughing. You need to go to the start.
this was such a joy to watch
8:28 Lost reference in 2024?? We love to see it
4:36 🤨
I don't think I would ever see a fall height death this short since Spelunker.
Omg I rewinded to the beginning and I just saw that the 29 was there at the start and I didn't realize it either
I love that we still have A good Snowman is Hard to Build and A Monsters Expedition references
Beautiful game design. Love it!
This was super cool!
I just noticed the snow changes which direction it falls, too.
And the video being 28min _chef's kiss_
some insane level design indeed
lot of VVVVVV memories happening at the end there
11:26 it's the little things. Editors are fully in their bag cooking 🔥
If only the video were one minute longer...
18:57 "where would date 29 be?" date 29 is literally the first thing you saw after starting the game
Bro this game started out as the most standard game ever with just “jump and platform” then the super short drop death happened and I was mind blown…. Then the purple phase happened and then I was more mind blown! Then the blue phase happens and I’m literally jaw dropped. 😱😱😱 what’s next?
I realized the game is called leap day because leaping is the main mechanic
WHAT?! How is this so cool?!
it's like a Metroidvania but your skills come from new knowledge. absolutely sick
Interesting gimmick. I love it!
If you've never seen FJORDS on itchio, I think it would be a banger. Very very similar to this, just more cryptic and with more layers
Walking through spikes is a Spelunky mechanic
I thought you were gonna play Tunic, but this game is equally cool!
got this with my Sokpop subscription (Sokpop commissioned it) and it's one of my favorite short puzzle platformers
8:28 oh shit goated reference.
Thanks for the spoiler for animal well in a completely different video
2:56 “wow” *0.5 seconds later* “fuck”
This is sick
surprising depth from essentially only one mechanic
wow this is super cool
i wonder what happens if you dig all the way to the top while upside down
Omg, you get the leap day by leaping across the map
10:41 You drilled through the ground and left it at just the right time and spot to walk through the spikes on the side
dmn this game is leaps and bounds one of the more interesting games i've seen this year
Hey Tyler, did you know that Terra Nil got a major update recently? They reworked the animal section and added 5 new areas, one for each continent. (The first continent got 2) 2 more biomes were added as well.
Unfortunately, it also resets the progress for the animal sections of each area too, so you essentially have to redo every level to get 100% now. If you want to check it out, I’d recommend doing a video on the Scorched Caldera level in the island continent. It’s been the most interesting so far.
This game was so much fun.
This was simply amazing. What a great game

why does this game looks and (visually) feels so much like An Untitled Story?
Idk, but, I enjoy it very much!
No Mac version so I'mma gonna watch this one... :)
that game was so cool
14 is a heart because it's valentines, if anyone wasn't getting it.

As an Outer Wilds fan that title is all too familiar. If he liked this game I think it would be a good fit for the channel
You want a game where everything is a spoiler? Try Outer Wilds.
It's a 3D space exploration game where you need to figure out things and find more things, with situations similar to this game where "you could do that the entire time, you just didn't know"
crazy
this is the most genius game ever
the title literally talks about this game without spoiling it
