One bit of advice is that if a chest says a statement that would say that it could be a Mimic, that chest is not a mimic. For example, if a chest says that there is a mimic in the bottom row, and it is in the bottom row, it is safe; if it were a mimic, it would be lying and thus could not be a mimic. Great vid!

it's really not a very versatile engine. really cool stuff like this tends to require a lot of creativity and hard work, either in getting around the engine's limitations or working within them. this is a good mix of both, a bunch of these ui details are custom plugins but i also love how this places relatively "basic" stuff like simple dungeon rooms and shop areas into a different context
9:51 The top and bottom middle chests contradict each other, so only one of them can be a mimic. The top left one _has_ to be a mimic, since if the bottom middle one is a mimic, the only valid chest that isn't side-to-side is the top left chest. Same goes for the top middle, as the top left chest is the only valid one that is a neighbor. However, since the top left one being a mimic means there are no mimics at the bottom, we can rule out the bottom middle mimic. Thus, there is only one possibility left: Top left, top middle.

earlier this week i saw a different youtuber playing this game and i was wondering if you did but since you didn't at that time, i was hoping you'd eventually play it aaand here it is :D
Man, these puzzles looked really interesting, to the point that I was really considering just immediately impulse buying the game - and I don't normally play puzzle-focused games - but then you mentioned the gut mechanic, and how opening a mimic makes you just instantly lose. Those are both individually deal breakers. Puzzles shouldn't have a time limit, and I don't believe total loss should be conditional upon a single mistake. I also overwhelmingly prefer real-time combat, and it's especially weird that this game goes with turn-based for combat but forces a timer on you during puzzles, that's totally backwards to me. Glad I stumbled across this video though. I paused on each screen to solve the puzzles myself before you did, and I think (memory's already fuzzy because puzzles can do that to the brain) I got pretty much all of them right.
Picked this up when it released and I've been having a blast with it. Very simple concept and the roguelike elements are pretty barebones, but the core puzzle gameplay is really satisfying to me. The minesweeper mode is my favorite but they're all good.
I honestly bought this game as soon as you said the description, it's an amazing game, but mentally exhausting. I have never had to think so hard and so active for any game I've ever played. Maybe I don't play enough games in this genre, but this game was a treat!
Honestly, it's a really interesting game that no shit kept me involved the entire time. Like 0 clicks away, i needed to see you win and solve these puzzles. Additionally, hearing you work around them was great. Need more now.
10:00 it isn't a 50/50, since you knew it was either both the top or both the bottom, and the top row said that the mimics aren't neighbors, you could determine that the top row was mimics.
Actually the reason why it is the top is, the top middle is impossible to be telling the truth, the right two back each other up, and the top mid backs them up as well with his lie, but the problem with his lie is it leaves 3 chests left all of whom are neighbors(besides top left and bottom mid, but if both are mimic is impossible because it would be a mimic telling truth about bottom mid being mimic) and therefore you know he is lying, because the mimics must be neighbors since all 3 remaining chests have 2 mimics remaining hypothetically as we are told 2 mimics are in each batch of chests. Since a liar is a mimic he must be a mimic. The bottom chest says their is a mimic in top row and the other bottom chest says they hide side by side, both statements can't be false due to their being a confirmed mimic and therefore both statements must be true. Making the top mid and left have to be mimics. Think we're on same line of thought I only added to it since we needed to confirm the right colum weren't lying so I gave my reasoning for them too. Easier reading: right column has 3 chests vouching for each other top mid, as he says mimics aren't neighbors, top right, and bottom right. Since 3 have said they are clear it impossible for them to not be clear, as one must be telling the truth. Both right chests clear each other either both are lying or neither as their is two mimics. The top mid says mimics aren't neighbors therefore they are clear. But this leads to an error if they are cleared, than top mid is a mimic because it causes an error it only allows the top left and bottom mid as they arent neighbors to be a mimic. Which is impossible becausd top left says their is a mimic in bottom row, a truthful statement if they are both mimics, and as we all know mimics are liars. This means the only possible non neighbor combination is impossible, therefore the top mid is a mimic, and we now know the mimics are neighbors, and the top left is a liar, and therefore the only combination left is top mid and top left.
The one you used a crystal on was solvable because it wasn't top 2 or bottom two, it was the top left one no matter what and if that one is lying you know the other mimic is on top.
One thing I saw come up a few times that Tyler didn’t really talk about was cases where the chest being a mimic would make it’s own statement true. For example, a chest on the right saying “the rightmost column contains at least one mimic.” Such a chest can’t be a mimic, because it being a mimic would make its own statement no longer a lie, creating a paradox.
The tip is. When there is only one mimic. A box that vouch for other box, is not a mimic and the box its protecting. Because otherwise, both are mimic. And that's not possible sense there is only one mimic
4:22 When a chest accuses any other chest(s), you know for sure that either the accuser or the accusee is a mimic, so you could have immediately narrowed it down here. 9:58 This is not a 50/50. The bottom 2 can't be mimics, because then the bottom middle would be telling the truth. Great video, I enjoyed it a lot!
I've been having a lot of fun with this game myself, and the challenge dungeons, which are unlocked after completing the main 3, are quite tough, and make you have to use some interesting logic. Would love to see you do more.
9:54 you can do it with logic. If either of the blue is a mimic, then the red box next to it, must be a mimic because the blue mimic is lying about having a mimic on the other side. And because we know that the mimics have to be side by side. The top row red is lying
You'd need to give a reason why the chests are talking, unless you make it a riddle on the wall. ...or have the solution be that they are all mimics because they are all talking chests.
@twobladedswordsandmauls2120 I was thinking of it being either a mini game or a wizard's challenge of some sort. The non-mimics delivering their message with the Magic Mouth spell would be the easiest way to do it.
Yooo, at 1:14 the combo sound effect from Lisa the painful is used whenever you level up in this game. Whether or not this game ripped sound effects from RPGMaker or simply just wanted to bring nostalgia to people who used to/still play those games is a really nice touch!
Edit: Never mind, plenty of RPGMaker sound effects are used in this game (I just immediately thought that it was only from Lisa the Painful), so an extra neat touch!
5:25 If top left red is mimic, it is lying, and black is mimic, making two mimics, contradiction. So left has no mimics, by black right has no mimic. By bottom right red, blue is the mimic. 10:01 No need for items, if two mimics aren't in the same row, both left are not mimic, making at most 1 mimic, contradiction. Therefore they are side-by-side, middle bottom is not mimic Awesome puzzle solving! Love this concept, but the puzzles could get obvious quickly if there isn't more variety. There are easy patterns in this kinds of puzzle
Something Tyler didn't seem to notice about the puzzle at 10:00 is if it had to be the two pairs he said, the bottom pair never could've worked, as there would be a mimic telling the truth (being side by side)
9:19 After establishing you have 2 good guy on the right, and the middle ones are in dispute, you could takie into consideration both reds POV. In both cases, they are saying that the first box is mimic, so it has to be mimic. And because mimics always lie, the bottom row has no mimics. Boxes 1 and 2 are mimics.
I'd play the absolute hell out of this if there was no timer mechanic. I love puzzles. I despise being pressured on time during puzzles. I like to double- and triple-check my work.
At 3:45 he could have also deduced the one that said blue boxes had to be the mimics as if it wasn’t then the red box would be a mimic as well. Which isn’t possible with only one mimic available
10:00 Actually, you didn't need to use an item. It's true that either of the red boxes could be a mimic, but only the top blue box could be a mimic. That's because of the red statement, if the bottom red was a mimic, then the top blue chest is a mimic. If the top red chest was a mimic than it's still the top blue one that is a mimic.
10:00 It was solvable. Remember a mimic CANNOT tell the truth. So one of the two row has 0 mimic, since one of the blue is a mimic and is lying about one row containing a mimic. So the mimic are side-by-side , so the red saying that can only be innocent, so lower row is innocent.
10:00 The top red and blue boxes are mimics because if the top red box was telling the truth then it couldn't be the top 2 or bottom 2 boxes in contrast the bottom red box has the true statement that 2 mimics are next to eachother.
At 8:17, a fast way to solve it is to look at the top-right chest. If this chest were a mimic, it would immediately contradict itself. Therefore it cannot be a mimic, and we conclude that the bottom-right chest must be a mimic, meanwhile the top-right, bottom-middle, and bottom-left chests are safe. From there, we can see that the top-left chest cannot be truthful anymore, and must therefore be the other mimic.
I watched this with my girlfriend on her account, so I figured I should comment on my own account to tell the algorithm to keep recommending you to me :) Glad to see you play this game! I saw it a couple days ago on some other guy's account, and it was soooo tedious to hear him flounder around and overexplain his logic lol, I was so happy to see you'd uploaded the same game!
If a chest is saying "there are more mimics in x color than y color", it always translates to "y color contains no mimics" (given there are 2 mimics at most). For there to be more mimics in a color they cant have an equal amount, so either 1:0 or 2:0, and since a 2:1 is only possible with 3 mimics, this can always be derived
As someone who unlocked all dungeons you need to finish the standard, expert and random at least once each to unlock the 4 others, which are way more absurd
I think the editor confused the top left chest with the top middle chest in the 2nd floor since based on the logic it would've been the top middle and top right chests that were in direct conflict
I wish the combat was a bit more involved or there was some option to choose your difficulty, combining this mimic concept with some kind of pokemon mystery dungeon system would be absolutely dope, especially if part of the gameplay was just making sure you found every chest or something
hint/tip on the normal dungeon if a box says something that would imply it could be a mimic, then it is not a mimic. Exp. red box says there is a mimic among the red boxes.

@twobladedswordsandmauls2120 I was thinking of it being either a mini game or a wizard's challenge of some sort. The non-mimics delivering their message with the Magic Mouth spell would be the easiest way to do it.
Really liked solving these along. Looking forward to more of this!
I know you play a lot of puzzles game but i just wanted to say youre smart af getting the logic puzzles so fast while explaining it at the same time
This right here, who wants to bet 20$ that this is his next big series?
I like the editing in your videos that make things easier to follow
Dang, great work editing this. Really easy to follow along
The girl following you is what allows you to talk to the chest to hear their lies.
Regardless, Frieren would open all of them.
This one definitley has a rare grimoire inside.
It's cool to see more rules.
I think, for rules with gold you can even directly check if they are true.
This looks like a really fun game! I would love to see more Tyler! Good work
Yooo, at 1:14 the combo sound effect from Lisa the painful is used whenever you level up in this game.
"Wait a minute, I'm gonna draw something..."
"IT'S A MIMIC DETECTOR!!!"
Therefore they are side-by-side, middle bottom is not mimic
Awesome puzzle solving! Love this concept, but the puzzles could get obvious quickly if there isn't more variety. There are easy patterns in this kinds of puzzle
2:11
thank you for that editor
as a non US citizen that's exactly what I imagine it's like over there
For 10:15, you could known it was the top 2 because the bottom middle one said they were side by side
"you gotta talk to the chests to figure it out"
"But normal chests dont talk..."
"Thats the fun part, they're all mimics"
3:28 you could tell the top middle was a mimic because you cleared the blue boxes when you saw they contradicted each other.
1:44 Is the top middle supposed to be highlighted instead of top left?
Ok yeah that make sense I was so confused to the deduction because of the wrong highlight.
Thought that as well. But regardless it’s a mistake. And we are only human. Right?
Just ask Frieren to take a look.
The one she picks is the mimic.
It's dark and scary!
I recognize the animations and the sound effects. This was made in RPG maker. Always great to see one of these out in the wild 🙂
Something Tyler didn't seem to notice about the puzzle at 10:00 is if it had to be the two pairs he said, the bottom pair never could've worked, as there would be a mimic telling the truth (being side by side)
9:19
After establishing you have 2 good guy on the right, and the middle ones are in dispute, you could takie into consideration both reds POV.
It’s crazy that I found a game for once before Tyler played it. Glad he’s playing it though.

Hey Alien, did you know Case of the Golden Idol has a new DLC? It's called The Vampire of Lemuria, and you should try it out!
Got this game because of this video and ive been loving it! I hope you play more, it gets really challenging
Finally, I've been waiting patiently for you to play this game.
At 3:45 he could have also deduced the one that said blue boxes had to be the mimics as if it wasn’t then the red box would be a mimic as well. Which isn’t possible with only one mimic available
"He slept with your wive"

Hi Tyler,
I think you should really look into “Return Of The Obra Dinn”.
It’s a detective game right down your alley and I think you’ll like it.
He's mentioned having played it in his "The case of golden idol" playthrough.
Plot twist: All the boxes are mimics, one is just hungry for humans.
I watched this with my girlfriend on her account, so I figured I should comment on my own account to tell the algorithm to keep recommending you to me :)
Glad to see you play this game! I saw it a couple days ago on some other guy's account, and it was soooo tedious to hear him flounder around and overexplain his logic lol, I was so happy to see you'd uploaded the same game!
I can't believe you won your first game in expert mode. you're too good at puzzle games
I really love the editing in your videos
If a chest is saying "there are more mimics in x color than y color", it always translates to "y color contains no mimics" (given there are 2 mimics at most). For there to be more mimics in a color they cant have an equal amount, so either 1:0 or 2:0, and since a 2:1 is only possible with 3 mimics, this can always be derived
Don't show this to Frieren
you can see how often Nesha uses her magic by doing right click/esc and clicking relics it should be there
I might need to try this again. When I played the demo, the puzzles got too hard for me REALLY quick, but this was much more reasonable.
Real Backpack Hero vibes, I hope Tyler plays that again soon too
for the algorithm babyy
would love to see more of Tyler playing this, seems good
As someone who unlocked all dungeons you need to finish the standard, expert and random at least once each to unlock the 4 others, which are way more absurd
I think I'm gonna steal this game and put it in a puzzle in my next D&D adventure
I really like this game. The farmer told me to hold the open all button to open faster. And the **** is incredibly well designed.
Thanks for video. Bought the game righ after watching. Sometimes RPG maker games are truly a hidden gems.
