Now I imagine it as a game, "Sietch Commander": Build your base into the mountain, send scouts out into the desert to find spice, groom and train your water master and sand master, let your society of fanatic survivalists blossom :D
In the next Episode: Do Fremen children need to be toilet trained, or do Huggies brand stillsuits truly prevent leaks in the harsh desert environments of arrakis?
One must not overlook the importance of a LittleTikes ornithopter, or a FisherPrice worm-hooks and sand-thumper set. Such toys for play educate adolescents to use vital tools as if they were born to them.
From the practical side, thats an interesting question. Given how fast childrens bodies change and how diverse they are, you´d need a whole lot of intermediate and adaptable childrens-stillsuits. Probably hand-me-downs traded to those kids currently fitting into them. Somehow I doubt they get out of the sietch a lot in the first decade or so.

unrelated to Dune's lore, but as one of my favorite imperial guard regiment, i wonder how Tallarners live on their planet, not only live, but also sustain quite large population and industries as well, considering that Tallarn Dessert Raiders are inspired by fremen, this can be a good inspiration, thank you for this
That was so great. I've read the main 6 Dune books many times and I've never gotten to see visuals like that of a Sietch.😮 can't wait for the next video
Well. After watching this. I got an idea. I think this could perfectly fit into dungeon keeper/citybuilder type of game where player must manage everything inside one of those settlements. combined with defending place and sending squads into desert for scavangong area.
We haven't had a decent Dune game since Emperor. Spice Wars looked promising, but the devs started randomly changing lore elements like turning Liet Kynes into a woman and patting themselves on the back for it.
Took my brother to see part 2, didnt think he would like it. Made him watch 5 min recap video and explained a couple things to him as they happened (maybe 4 and 1 was to talk about a book difference) and he really enjoyed it, he said 10/10. not sure I agree with him on the rating but very glad he enjoyed it and got into it.
"most inhospitable planets in the galaxy"?? With an oxygen atmosphere, temperatures that permit liquid water, and earth-normal surface gravity? This would be one of the MOST hospitable places. How long do the Fremen think they'd survive on Jupiter??
Every sietch has a reverend mother as a spiritual leader (advises in spiritual and religious matter) and and a naib as practical leader . (advises and manages the daily well being of a sietch) . Naib in arabic means representative or steward while sayadeena means (our lord or our venerable one- although its mistranslated as the correct word is, sayedatena سيدتنا frank herbert when he translated from arabic didnt observe that male and female words are spelled different in arabic therefore I said our lord.)
The Fremen have two differing religions, ZenSunni and ZenShia and they are in conflict like the current day Sunnis and Shiites. They begrudgingly cooperated after Paul became Muad'Dib and initited the galactic jihad. They returned to their conflicting ways after the Jihad caused much dissatisfaction within the Fremen and Leto allowed it because it made no difference to his golden path.
Man I love Dune. Been a fan since 2002 and I'll admit I read Children of Dune first without realizing there were two books before that but I eventually read each book and the Dune Universe is outstanding. The prequel books are ok but yeah
Love Dune lore. By book 4, off worlders are wearing fake still suits; a natural adoration and cultural appropriation to the conquers. The Fremen culture dies in victory as all popular culture does.
Amtal challenges are NOT between Fremen for leadership. The term was used specifically in the context of Jamis vs. Paul for special reasons, as the definition from the glossary illustrates: "Amtal or Amtal rule: a common rule on primitive worlds under which something is tested to determine its limits or defects. Commonly: testing to destruction." Jamis was challenging Jessica's power because she and Paul were by their abilities and presence trying to fit into their Lisan Al-Gaib/Mahdi legend and he wasn't satisfied with Stilgar's beginning trust of them, so their strength had to be disproved since he was insulted by Paul's assault and doubted them. A Fremen to Fremen leadership challenge is a more mundane, common process.
GREAT VIDEO I still don’t understand why the fremen didn’t try to terraform by themselves? They know where the machines are, I’m sure they are smart enough to bring the water up maybe, but maybe it be hard with worms and all that stuff happening, great video again. Imagine being a dune fan in the 60’s and waiting 30 years for another dune to come out
Been there done that. First read Dune in the late 60's. Read each book as it came out. I've also read all of Brian Herbert's trilogies as they came out ending with the Caladan trilogy.
speaking of fremen conflict which will be explored more in children of dune, the sietch of jacarutu (where leto the second golden path leads) had a bad reputation among the fremen because the fremen (idwali) there used to hunt other fremen and take their water , this is a taboo and blasphemous action among fremen tradition, so the rest of the sietches united and killed them all, leaving the sietch of jacarutu empty. by the time paul set foot in arakkis the word (Jacarutu) itself was a curse word and a taboo word to speak.
It looks like Fremen did this. Look, there's Maker Hooks and Sandworm tracks, but I've never heard of them hitting something so big before... They didn't. But we are meant to think they did. These tracks are side-by-side. Fremen always ride single-file, to hide their numbers... ( *points at sand crawler* ) And, these blast-points, too accurate for Dune people. Only Imperial Sardaukar are so precise.
The Fremen could had easily outnumbered the Harkonnens at least 3 to 1 but they were all divided and likely spent more time fighting amongst themselves than fighting the Harkonnens. It took Paul Atreides to unite them all under his rule and with that, they became unstoppable.

Try dune spice wars. Dune rts.

No. They have genetic memory.

Have Invicta and crew ever thought about doing anything with the Battletech Universe? Lot of material to look over and explore.
Absolutely outstanding. A wonderful distillation and concentration of lore.

Thanks. I thought immediatly the same. More like 99% of planets are not habitable in the universe.
Least hospitable class m planet*
How does it even have oxygen or semi stable temperatures without plant life or oceans?
the temperatures arent stable but just dont get cold. and somehow theres oxygen bc of the sandworms and sand trout
@@chadwells7562 Oxygen would take many tens of thousands of years or more to be reduced, after whatever cataclysm happened. Plus, plot.
A video about the Harkonen would be very fascinating!

@11:46, I think the Bene Gesserit got it from the Fremen Sayyadina, by way of their agents of the Missionaria Protectiva.

I doubt they'd have anything as noticeable as wind turbines or solar collectors. Maybe heat exchangers in the ground itself.
