Mysterium by Michael Eaves (2024)

"Mysterium" is a piece full of mystery as the title would imply. Further than that, "Mysterium" is a dedicated to those that have drug addiction & mental health struggles.
"Mysterium" tells the tale of two friends going through their own silent battles, mental health and drug addiction. You will often hear the melody in pairs in octaves or in a call-and-response format. This pairing represents these two individuals. As the piece goes on their struggles really start to bear down them. We hear them go through many different struggles. One of our friends does not make it through their struggle, as so many people do every day. Our surviving friend realizes they must carry on to see through to the end of their struggle. We then hear them go through their struggles and attempts at recovery. They fall each time to finally get back up, and to see through to the end of their struggle.
This piece tells of a silent disease that can take your life if not taken seriously. Drug addiction and your mental health are no joking matter. If you need help reach out and ask for it so you too can see through to the end of this. The world is a better place with you in it.
