Jeep has always been legendary in it's 4X4 capability. This year, they have sent the Grand Cherokee to the top again with the addition of the Selectrac system and Quadralift suspension. I do believe this is going to be one of the best selling Grand Cherokees in history.
I just purchased the 2010 grand cherokee 4x4. I love it. I have only had jeep my entire life. My first one was a 94 jeep wrangler, then 03 grand cherokee (I6 engine) and now a Hemi. Great SUV for price and performance. The only complain I have is the interior is a bit tighter, but it makes up for in performance, and quite enviorment.
Grand Cherokee rocks! Forget about those wimpy Wranglers, JGC is the real deal, it does it all. Riding in a Wrangler is like riding in a stage coach. It's your grandfather's Jeep. You want to go off-road, take a Grand Cherokee!
it just looks amazing! it even looks better then the new Territory plus i never heard of seats being heated and cooled it's also a great inspiration for the future design
Those of you who mourn the fact that this isn't the same as a 99 Jeep GC should move into the new millenium. I've got news for you...the Wrangler isn't the same as the original Willy's Jeep either. Each generation improves on the one before and, yes, it does also move it to an ever changing market. Take your 10 year old Jeep GC off road and over the rocks. In 10 years you might own a 2011 Jeep GC and be off roading it whilst complaining that the latest 2021 Jeep GC isn't as good as the 2011.
To all of you making the sports car remarks, I used a little poetic license to indicate that this vehicle has handling far superior to most vehicles of this type. Didn't mean for it to be taken literally. I figured that was fairly obvious...
You are not wrong on that. If you ask us, Grand Cherokee is not meant to be one sports car (such as: Ferrari, Aston Martin, ...). Grand Cherokee is best at (very) low speeds (what you need in off-road terrain), and for safe, enjoyable and comfortable all-weather and all-terrain journeys and business trips.
Love the styling, like the powertrains, questioning the move to airride...as far as long term durability, airride is really not the way to go. But I've seen even the basic versions of this at dealerships and even then I'm very surprised.
@Pupsflusen I own a ZJ jeep grand cherokee from 96 and I still drive it today like its brand new and i'm damn sure these new jeeps will be just as good off road as my ZJ is.
Jeff, according to Chrysler, the Jeep Grand Cherokee debuted in January, 1992. The report says in the last couple of decades, more than 4 million have been sold. The report didn't say they started selling them 20 years ago. It says they've sold more than 4 million of them in the last couple of decades.
sooo sick. deff gunna look into buying a 2011 loaded overland in a couple years when the price is a lil more student friendly or i am making more money.
@scotsmaninusa Just want to make clear that nowhere in this piece do I say the loaded Overland costs "$35 grand they're telling you here" as is in your post (re-read your own original post). I appreciate everyone keeping things accurate.
Way better than the WK (2005-2010) models for sure, but Still the ZJ and WJ are the best Grand Cherokee's made. Bring back the live axle, independent suspension shouldn't be in any off-roader.
@xXBurntBaconXx Yeah i was looking that up and found that its coming in 2013. I saw that there were 2 types one with 188hp, 320lb.-ft and another with 237hp, 410lb. ft but i don't know which is coming to North America
they can keep it! i'll keep my 99 with solid front and rear axles and venerable torquey 4.0 inline six!!! Best engine Jeep ever made hands down.Got 206,000 and you can't even hear it run.Too much luxury not enough utility! notice no roof rack!Its a dealer installed option
Though this is a capable vehicle, can someone please tell me when Jeep is going to do what Ford did in ditching their chain-driven transfer cases for tougher, gear-driven models?
@DJTEVAdotCOM Be fair. If youre looking for a green car youre not looking for a vehicle with OFF road capability. If you want economy you'd stick to your Scion XB, Nissan Cube, street only type vehicle.
the older grand cherokee looks better and i own 1998 jeep grand cherokee 5.9 L V8 and 2003 jeep grand cherokee 4.7 L V8 and i feel that both of them look better than the new one . both of my cars are black
So much dissapointed with newer tendencies that Jeep recently has.... Those are not "The JEEPS" anymore, the way we are used to them and the reason we love them for..... The fact that in most of the countries arround the world jeep is not a brand name anymore, its like name for any 4x4 car.... Newer market demands to have such computers on wheels. Thank god wrangler stayes the same!
@tbursee My uncle's Chevy Silverado has over 500K miles on it. My 1989 Ford Bronco had 350k on it before I sold it...im sure its still going. Many old ZJ Grand Cherokees are still on the road with similar miles. No offense to you tbursee but it seems like you've been brainwashed to believe the USA can't build great cars. Oh and one other thing... Guess you havent recent checked reliability reports... Ford and Chevy are beginning to kick Honda and Toyotas ass!

I have had every generation grand cherokee since they came out but I could not believe how smooth this one is for a jeep.

I LOVE my '11 GC Limited. Even the stereo rocks:)

great review. very informative and well presented.
The newest Grand Cherokee is very nice and highly capable!
You are not wrong on that. If you ask us, Grand Cherokee is not meant to be one sports car (such as: Ferrari, Aston Martin, ...). I heard they are getting a 3.0L Diesel in this. if that's true, This is pretty much the perfect vehicle.
Love the styling, like the powertrains, questioning the move to airride...as far as long term durability, airride is really not the way to go. But I've seen even the basic versions of this at dealerships and even then I'm very surprised.
Love the car, wonder of it can really tow something like a car.. In a overland 4wd?
@Pupsflusen I own a ZJ jeep grand cherokee from 96 and I still drive it today like its brand new and i'm damn sure these new jeeps will be just as good off road as my ZJ is.

@scotsmaninusa The Overland 4x2 starts at around $39K which is what this piece accurately states. Options do add up quickly as they do in any vehicle.
@XephronZ i hope its the 237hp/410lb.ft one.
sooo sick. deff gunna look into buying a 2011 loaded overland in a couple years when the price is a lil more student friendly or i am making more money.
That New JGC is freaking silky smooth. Love it.
@Dotchetter What's new is it's a Benz platform.
Handles like a sports car, MY ASS😂.
it is the best 4x4 in the world and it had won 24 awards
@scotsmaninusa Just want to make clear that nowhere in this piece do I say the loaded Overland costs "$35 grand they're telling you here" as is in your post (re-read your own original post). I appreciate everyone keeping things accurate.
@Dotchetter They got rid of the solid rear axle too!

i like a bit of a rough ride. i wanna feel the road. stiff body on frame for me.
they can keep it! i'll keep my 99 with solid front and rear axles and venerable torquey 4.0 inline six!!! Best engine Jeep ever made hands down.Got 206,000 and you can't even hear it run.Too much luxury not enough utility! notice no roof rack!Its a dealer installed option
stiffer than a x5 they reckon?
Lord knows I want one of these so bad.
I happen to own a new Grand Cherokee and I also own a sports car. I can say with authority that my Jeep doesn't handle anything like a sports car.
I want one!!
Gli manca solo una cosa... il sistema di telecamere area view... Il concorrente Land Cruiser 2010 ce l'ha...
To NoLMAOade, by describing the Grand Cherokee's nimble handling, I am not advocating unsafe driving.
@freekincage77 Pentastar. You will see this V-6 in several Chrysler products being introduced in the next few months.
buying this baby in overland.
Nice SUV.

00:17 Jim Morrison (LoL)

@DevPack Good eye.

both of my cars are black
@scottstestdrives haha thanks great review by the way :)
@DJTEVAdotCOM this is a jeep if you're looking for a green car go buy a Prius.
@tbursee lol yeah sure a million miles on it, i have an accord i love it but ill believe a million miles when i see proof.
So much dissapointed with newer tendencies that Jeep recently has.... Those are not "The JEEPS" anymore, the way we are used to them and the reason we love them for.....

producing a rear wheel drive Jeep should be illegal
I don't think you can blame this video for peoples stupidity.
"It handles like a sports car" Thats a great way to get people to start flipping their jeeps trying to drive them like sports cars
@tbursee

Thumps up if you spot the Ferrari f430 at 2:18 XD
@EmmetLBrown88
^ Such an obviously fake anecdote. Everyone knows Range Rover's air suspension fails as soon as you drive it off the lot.
def not a green car....23 mpg in hwy? really?
@freekincage77 land rover itself is a rip off of jeep
@Pupsflusen weirdo O.o
poor jeeps so much luxury....so much plastic....so much maintenance cost.... :(
