  • Kratos - The Tire Carrier.
    Our tire carrier involves brute strength, power and force from the custom built struts providing 375 lbs of force on each side of the hatch to raise that heavy offroad tire into the air. There for, with all that brute strength, power and force, we call our tire carrier "HK Kratos - The Tire Carrier".
    In Greek Mythology. Cratos was a son of the Titan Pallas (not to be confused with PallasAthena) and the goddess Styx. He was the personification of strength and power. The name is derived from the common noun Κράτος, meaning "force", "strength", or "power". The spellings "Cratus" and "Kratos" are also used.

    Love the idea, but I thought I should point out something that I think you missed. The best way to put it I think is just to ask what happens if someone's hand -- or worse yet a kid's head -- gets in the way when it slams shut? I think I would abandon this idea entirely and start over. That's a death trap from what I can see. I'm sorry but there is no way I'd trust that closing with that kind of force and no one wants to see anyone hurt, killed or sued. I do very much appreciate your effort and testing though. The innovation and design work was impressive to watch! I love your WJ bumper btw, coolest one I have seen!

    question: drilling through the sheet metal of the vehicle for bolts to access the outer and inner plate / bracket, what prevents the hole from becoming oblong as the two pieces sandwiching them vibrate and shimmy over time. I like the concept and function. I'd like on for my 98 XJ however I worry about the long term issue the rigs vibration may create issue. I believe I have a simple solution. how could I best communicate what I'm trying to convey in both issue and resolution.

    • @hkoffroad1480
      @hkoffroad1480  5 років тому

      The holes drilled for the bolt pass through are drilled larger than the bolts. The hardware does not reply on the holes to maintain in its position. The carrier itself is mounted from the top and the center of the hatch. Nothing moves...EVER!

      awesome. i'm working on a bumper and skid plates, then i need a tire carrier. then from there i can go from 3 inches to 6 inches of lift and then it's time for 37's. 32's just aren't big enough haha.

    • @hkoffroad1480
      @hkoffroad1480  8 років тому

      +heroofharo how do you get 37's to fit on a WK?

    • @heroofharo
      @heroofharo 8 років тому +2

      hammer a pinch weld flat, install a superlift kit, with the strut springs from an old man emu lift, , then go with new rear shocks and either 6 or 8 inch lift springs in the rear, with new control arms and a new track bar.
      it's a lot of work and a lot of money, but it looks awesome and a hemi with QD2 is one of the best IFS off roaders out there.
      google anon155 build or omelet build thread from jeepforums and you'll see them.
