Thanks for the video! As a GCSE student, i dont really want too much to change. Ive talked to previous covid struck year 11 and theyve expressed that the grades they recieved dont feel like theirs. They feel that theyll be looked down on in the future for not having even taken the 'proper exams'. That kind of worries me so id prefer tests as similar as possible to what it wouldve been like pre covid. I do realise though thousands of us (including me) would be struggling to catch up and without examiners considering the months missed we would be in a massive disadvantage. I cant really come to any conclusion, hope someone does though😅😅
As someone going into y11 how many hours should I aim to revise for right now ? Also Does anyone have tips on how to stay consistent and not get distracted when revising 😩
I was a year 11 when COVID-19 first hit, meaning that I’m part of the first GCSE cohort that didn’t sit their exams - I regret revising as much as I did. As long as you’re going over your lessons, making notes as you go along (a must do!) you should be fine. But, if you really want to challenge yourself a bit further, try getting in around 2 hours a day of exam questions for all your subjects. This is super helpful for STEM subjects, because the questions are repetitive and very similar in all exams papers. For English and humanities, plan essays, and know your content (flashcards might work for you, though they didn’t for me). Just don’t overwork yourself - I made a mistake of doing this. This is your last year in secondary school, please make the most of it! Enjoy your last moments with your friends, but don’t let that distract you from your main goal - exams! Hope you found this helpful. Let me know if you have further questions. 😊
I personally didn't start revising in year 11 till maybe a bit after Christmas. I stayed on top of notes from lessons tho etc. But maybe don't try to do too much incase you burn out. But then again I didn't do gcses as covid fucked it and it was the first year so everything was chaos.
More than anything a level maths needs reduced content and give a massive equation sheet thus unfair at its highest as ofqual are clearly biased towards the triple sciences and leaving maths no advanced information for maths would cause insane amounts of stress on maths students not fair at all.
