I was born decades after this aired. It’s so weird watching this, in a lot of ways we have improved but in a lot of ways our quality of life has significantly declined. The internet is the closest we will ever have to a Time Machine.
I miss this time. I was 14. Had a great childhood. The world today has gotten a lot meaner. Social media has destroyed a lot of relationships.
WOW WHAT MEMORIES. I was 9 at the time. THANK YOU FOR SHARING!!!
This aired late night Dec. 27 (Thurs.) into Dec. 28 (Fri.), 1979.
I was 12 years old. Sheesh… this makes me feel old.
OMG! The infamous Rangers' Sassoon commercial at 29:57! I remember that during this time, whenever the Blueshirts had a bad game at MSG, some in the crowd would sing "Ooh, la la, you suck!"
3:57 "This is Roushon Ellison and I'm Marvin Scott. And I'm here to stare uncomfortably at Roushon as he gazes into the abyss."
Kinda creepy how the little guy doesn’t even know how to react and newscaster doesn’t smile at him?! 😢😂
6:46. Funniest thing I ever saw in my life !
Channel 5 aired Die Fledermaus every New Year’s Eve for quite a while (didn’t watch it, but remember the commercials).
So, Yul Brenner stopped all the litter in New York. Who knew?
Love new...can you post the reel camp opening,?
Pfft, no Klingon would give their children a Happy Meal. Honor Meals only. Okay, _maybe_ a Glory Meal if they’ve shown proficiency in combat.
Keep up the good work! I hope you have, or at least find, the ad to pianist Irving Fields' TV album 50 Songs You'll Always Love (released c. 1977-78).
Thanks! 🙂 There's a good chance I'll come across it. I still have about 10 boxes of beta tapes to go through that were recorded from late 70s through early 80s so if I come across it I'll definitely post it for you. So it's a music commercial?
@@meredith_vintage Yep. I've never seen it but I have seen print ads quoting the commercial ("Piano music never sounded so good!").
zena jeans lol my mom had a pair back when
Time-Life "World War II" - narration by Jackson Beck.
Then at the end, Lou Steele voice over?
I think I’ll call up for fortune magazine
Wow...I never saw the tv spot for Last House on Dead End Street. It ripped off Suspiria and Last House On the Left.

Flash back
I WAS 14 TIMES WERE GOOD
It's 10 PM, do you know where your children are?
By any chance, do you have any weekday afternoon segments from this era?
Possibly, I have a lot of beta tapes in boxes still to go through from this lot. So if I find it I'll be sure to upload it on here 🙂
@@meredith_vintage Thanks, you're very kind! That was the era of my childhood. I'd love to see even the bumpers that Channel 5 used to use for Woody Woodpecker, Spider-Man, etc.
Just curious…. What’s the difference between Beta and VHS 📼 tapes as far as the quality in their video quality goes?! Thanks for sharing these videos!❤
I'm no expert, but my college teacher in my media class told us that beta was actually of higher quality. It's what the TV news stations used to use before digital. Beta was also more expensive, so that's why the VCR industry used VHS tapes instead.@@adrianlyord5300
Bye bye Sports Illustrated!!!!

There is a subtle but noticeable late 70s accent when they talk.
How old are you? Were you there?
A late '70s accent? Never heard of such a thing!
I know what you mean. Back then pre internet the NY/NJ area had much stronger regional accents. With the explosio of media and the internet it's kind of flattened regional dialects
It's only a movie
You can watch commercials wishing everyone a Merry Xmas, thats before the liberals ruined everything.
