- Fischer's got a brand new twin tip all-mountain ski for us. Only problem is it's a 2025 model! They'll be releasing about 140 pairs this fall as special early run, but after that, you'll have to wait a bit.

A new ski review from Ski Essentials!! The day is looking up :) Only just started watching it, but I'll say "great job" in advance - I'm confident it is. Cheers!
Hope it lived up to your expectations!
@@SkiEssentials Absolutely! I really like your long-form reviews. I have a somewhat unusual question that could help me with my next ski purchase decision (from Matt of course): at around the 17:00 to 18:30 mark, when you're on a groomer with the black and tan jacket, approximately how fast would you say you're skiing? I don't think I typically ski any faster than that. I'm an experienced skier - fairly smooth, but not overly aggressive in my late 50s. Also pretty hefty, which makes it harder to decide which skis may not be strong enough for me (i.e. Ripstick basic vs. black editions). Love your Ripstick and QST reviews (all lengths) - particularly your Salomon Alta trip. Thanks in advance!
Good question. Honestly, I'm not sure, but not super fast. Maybe 30-35 mph? It's amazing how speed is over exaggerated. I don't ski much faster than that on a regular basis, I would say. A little bit, sure, but not crazy. I see so many GPS tracking apps telling people they're skiing ~60 mph, and it's just not true. 60 mph on skis is FAST. Jacket-flapping speed. That's what I would always call it when I had to ski that fast to hit a big (70-80 foot) jump. Jacket-flapping speed is where things get scary, in my opinion. Anyways, hope that helps!
Don't overthink your size too much. Bob has ~70 lbs on me and it's pretty interesting how often we share the same thoughts about a ski. There are things that work better for him than me, and vice versa, but it doesn't happen as much as you'd think.
I really appreciate your reply! I was going to guess around 30 mph or even less. I just saw the updated graphics on the QST 92, and like the new color more than the previous model - plan on purchasing these this Fall. You don't have to reply, but I'm thinking 176 cm sounds right for me in that ski. @@SkiEssentials
Great review as always Jeff
Thanks!
again an awesome video ! This looks like an awesome ski
It is!
@@SkiEssentials if you could decide between this or armada arv 94 or the line chronic … what would be your fav. ?
It’s a good looking ski
Sounds like a blackops 98, how would you say they compare?
So, in the moment, and even up until, say, yesterday, I couldn't think of a great comp for the Nightstick. Then it hit me, it's like a Black Crows Camox, at least in how they both blend power, stability, maneuverability, playfulness, etc. Black Ops 98 feels like it's more in the Unleashed 98 conversation to me. Heavier, more powerful, but not as quick or as agile. I love that we're getting all these choices in the twin tip world these days!
when you say you were moving the bindings between freestyle and factory recommendation, were you re-drilling the bindings? I'm looking at picking up a second hand pair of skis, but want to change the bindings to central mount
Yes, a re-mount was required.
Hi,
Going for the 184, which is 132-97-132, would you still recommend a + mount, or could I push it further towards true center? Thanks :)
Never skiied anything but true, but trying to adjust..
I'm guessing the Fischer site is incorrect about that tail measurement. I bet it's 122, not 132. Not sure if this impacts your decision or not. The lack of symmetry makes the +2 line a good choice.
How does this ski compare to the K2 poacher for general all mountain and freestyle applications?
The Poacher has more stiffness and consistency from tip to tail. The Fischer has some more early taper to it that makes it feel somewhat spoonier. This isn't a bad thing for soft snow, but it makes it not quite as predictable in firmer snow and a groomer format. Nightstick is probably more of a freestyle-specific model in terms of intent, but don't tell that to Colby Stevenson who's won countless top-tier slopestyle events on the Poacher.
@@SkiEssentials thank you!
east coast, looking to learn butters/rails/180s and 360s. some groomed trails and skiing switch but i have a different pair of skis for hard charging. Would you recommend these for that?
like a K2 Poacher, but with Titanal?
Actually, yeah, that's a good way to think about it. Poacher is heavier, though, so there's a difference there. It occurred to me yesterday that the Black Crows Camox is a good comparison, although the Nightstick is more balanced in the park. Camox feels a bit more directional to me, but a similar mix of maneuverability/stability/etc.
the long awaited review.. is it as epic as the suspense.. and if so... do we have more of a wait..
need to find your center;)
What length did you get? 170,177,184? What’s your height? Thanks
177 at 5/10 seems to work well for park.
Where did u mount them the first time ???
-2
you are an extremely advanced park skier, trust.
Hey thanks! I must admit, the older I get, the more I feel it slipping away, but I'm not ready to be done yet!
When does this 2025 graphic release to the public?
There's new graphics for the Nightstick line coming out for 2025, you will likely see those in the late summer.
There only 97 why do they look so thick
I think they look wide in the park. Skied them today in some warm/wet conditions and they were amazing!
Is this stiffer than arv 94? @skiessentials
A little bit, yes, most notably underfoot. Heavier too and with better vibration damping. So, a bit smoother and stronger, but not as quick.
more flexible in the tip/tails?
