Starting and Finishing an Art Challenge Advice (summarized for future reference!)
💖Be Realistic
What can you manage with your schedule, skills, and energy? It is supposed to challenge you, but you don’t want to overwhelm yourself and burn out! Find a healthy balance and be kind to yourself with what you can handle in the present.
💖Stick to a Theme/Set Rules
Setting rules or guides may sound restricting, but implementing a constant color palette, style, or subject matter can free up mental energy to focus on other parts of the drawing and creating process.
💖Finding Motivation/Have a Purpose
Make a mood board on Pinterest or collage something together to inspire you for daily creation.
Ask yourself: Why do you want to do this challenge? How is this challenge getting you closer to your art or creative goals? Write these answers down and look back to them when you’re feeling lost! You can also make a mood board on Pinterest or collage your favorite palettes, subjects, styles, and motifs altogether to give yourself a launching pad into creating.
💖Pace Yourself (Avoiding Art Block and Rushing)
It’s Exciting starting a new challenge or goal in your art, but it’s good to make sure you’re taking your time to learn skills and create effectively and intentionally to improve and grow (unless your goal is to just make as much art as possible, go crazy dude!). Taking more than a day, or even weeks to focus on something and truly understand a concept to the best of your ability is key to long-term retention.
💖Have fun and find Community!
Challenges are a great way to find new artists, be discovered, and build a connection with the art community. Sharing your art can lead to helpful feedback and support from your peers, giving you better confidence and direction with where your art is going.

Loved hearing your thoughts on art challenges, I'm going to be taking part in Peachtober and I thought I would feel the same way as you guys about doing a theme but honestly I really struggled with Mermay and kind of got a little bit bored of painting mermaids towards the end ❤
I get bored of art challenges too, but I saw the Peachtober challenge and I like how open to interpretation it is!! Good luck, I might do some of the prompts as well :3
I don't know what kind of art challenge i will do in october, but umight try on oc october challenge, love to create animations of my own characters. 🥰😁

I've started Inktober every year for ages now but never actually completed one, this year I think I'm gonna make fanart for all the Fall/Halloween movies and shows I watch and try to do a couple a week instead!

For October, I always make my own prompt list so I can force myself to work on things that I need for my portfolio or so I can make merch for cons. Not all of them are winners but I usually get a body of work I’m proud of. I find 31 too stressful, especially since I like to use the time to make fully rendered work- so my prompts for the past few years have been 13 total. This year I’m mostly focusing on kid lit. I may have jumped the gun and posted the challenge prompts too early, but I always share them if anyone wants to join!
This is such a good idea!! There are so many ideas I want to tackle, I might end up taking this approach, thank you for your insight !!
@@sketchesofshay I post my prompts every year and share anyone else’s drawings if they do them on my story- but yeah I definitely recommend the smaller because it takes so much pressure off! If I get 13 good drawings, it feels so much more satisfying than 31 so so ones you know.

When mixing butter and sugar, it is quicker and easier to start of with a fork then finish off with a silicone spatula, unless you’re using electric

what kind of drawing tablets would you suggest for beginners?
I don’t know what kind of budget you have, but I started out using one of the Wacom Intuous drawing tablets! It’s in my art supply video if you’d like more info 💖
i cant have my sound up right now but are you gonna make the dying brush for clip too? also did u delete one of ur brushes because i tried to reccomend it on my channel but i couldnt find it on kofi
All of my original free brushes are still on my shop! You can use the digital brush category to sort. Also I don’t think I will be offering a clip studio version 😅 I’m still not very good at recreating things in clip studio lol
