Something that I do to prevent my colors from being washed out by white is before I ever add white to a color, I add the warmer toned analogous color to whatever color I’m using, if that makes sense. Like if I’m painting with purple I’ll add a little bit of red before I use white. That usually brightens up the color in the way that I want. I will usually have to add white after but sometimes I find that it’s the exact color i needed. I feel like it brightens up the pieces I do
7:45 which is actually very ironic because: the farther away objects (galaxies, nebulas etc) are from us, the more of a red shift they have. (The more red shifted objects are also means that we’re seeing the object farther back in time.) This is very off topic, but im a nerd so i just couldn’t resist.
I think the Doppler effect comes into effect when things are accelerating (and not stationary or moving at constant velocity). Things get bluer in distance because of dispersion of light
Any acrylic medium can be used with acrylic gouache. For Turner Acryl gouache there's a special retarder as well which is pure liquid. Hope this helps. 😊
A wet palette may help extend the acryla-gouache drying time. They can also be sealed if you need to step away from the painting and don't want your paint to dry out.
small advice for people struggling with acrylics drying too fast: try a stay wet palette, just put a wet sponge under some kind of parchment paper and you get a lot more time to use ur mixed colors and dont have to worry with too deluted paint👍👍
2:23 u can also fill a layer above with white and set the layer to color mode it’ll turn it to grayscale 🧐 sorry if u already knew dis the contrast trick is helpful tho
Hey, have you ever drawn Saul and Bill in the RPG world? I would love to see what class they would have, and maybe if they would be of a race different than human ❤ love your work
Hii! I love your videos, I discovered you yesterday on my search for art styles and sketchbook tours and well.. I have been trying to get my style right and maybe practice more on face anatomy. I have a question for you btw!! How have you discovered your art style and what are your tips and techniques to figure it out? (Extra one, more like an idea) You could do a “old sketchbook” tour, maybe with old drawings from middle school to highschool and college. I would love to see your progress as an artist, and I believe it could help a lot of people with their confidence (totally not talking about myself haha!)
I just found her, and right after I just started randomly drawing, I wish I had more time to paint, because I use to be obsessed, but uni and UA-cam have taken over my live, but I do love doing my UA-cam vlogs
Aah so happy I stumbled over your channel today! 😍 love your art! Super inspiring! 💕✨ Definitely have to get my gouaches out asap!! And your videos are such a good vibe ! i hope my own videos will be like this too one day! 🌞🌷 x joy
may i ask, how do you learn to draw so well? your artwork is amazing and i've been watching you for quite some time now!! what are your tips for someone who's just starting out in the world of art?
I would really recommend starting out with the fundamentals!! There are so many resources that I talk about in my learning anatomy from UA-cam video on my channel if you need some ideas to get started!
love your gouache style! and your style overall. you’re a huge inspiration to me. I’m an artist who cannot draw people from her head (i’ve never had an oc. ever.). I want to be able to draw freely without relying so much on reference.
That’s definitely tough to start learning!! I wish you the best in your studies and journey and hope that my content can be helpful !! (I have a video about anatomy that mentions some channels that teach learning to draw from imagination if you are interested)
Tip for you in procreate - create a new layer and fill it with white, then set the layer style to Color It'll desaturate everything underneath it and save you having to export it
You can do the greyscale pretty easy on procreate as well! Throw a black layer on top and mess with the layer type, from what I recall, hue, saturation, and color seems to do the best.
What a wonderful end to the sketchbook! I'm totally with you on that orange + mint palette, it's just so delicious. For me it looks like early autumn, before the rains and the temps really drop. Also, I really enjoyed the format of this video. Great job. ❤️
Amazing video and I’m pretty sure I got put onto you by static or static by you. I don’t remember but I definitely found you both around the same time.
imo if you’re able to get most of your tuition in scholarship it could be great! I didn’t go to an official art school, I went to a public university because I was able to get a full scholarship. Private art schools are just too expensive and there so may better alternatives online (Kelsey Rodriguez just made a video with a TON of online art class resources for the fraction of the cost of traditional school) Most of all, people who are hiring artists aren’t looking for a degree, they’re looking for a good portfolio. There are pros to networking while going to art school and building connections and getting into the industry , but it’s not worth it if it ends up with you getting into thousands of dollars in debt. That’s just my opinion tho, make sure to do your research!!
@@sketchesofshay thank you so much!! ill be sure to check out your resources :) my tuition and costs are mostly covered but I've been curious if the overall educational value is anything beneficial in the long run so I'm glad I was able to get your opinion! your artwork is very inspiring
I love your Videos so much like, THESES ARE SO HELPFUL TO ME, side note: do you have any “assignments” that you could do to better learn mixing colors? And also some general tips on gouache paints? I’ve been trying to mix colors in a better way but it’s getting a little frustrating. HOWEVER, How’s your day been? How’s your 🍂🍁Autumn🍂🍁 been?
I have some videos linked in the description about mixing colors !! most of all, just practicing making a color wheel is something that is really helpful in learning!! My fall is going well! hope you are having a great autumn too 💖

Use plastic lidded takeout containers to store your acrylics once they’re mixed. It actually keeps them usable for awhile.

There are retarders for watercolours which you can use for guoache as well as specific ones for acrylics. They prolong the drying time.
hi hi!!! i was really curious, what kind of palette do you use in this video?? it looks like almost a glass surface
It’s a glass palette I made myself! I talk more about it in my art supplies video 💖
