fr. for my bday all of my friends just gave my sketchbooks and the price seemed cheap but the pages were extremely thick and I keep getting scared to use them cuz well you’re gonna waste perfectly good pages with crappy doodles. I love to use a sketchbooks with thin papers or just ruled books to draw sometimes becuz I can do whatever I wanna without feeling that burden again

recently I'm trying to use sketchbooks more and since I live in a place where getting art materials is really expensive I'm binding them myself and honestly I'm loving it! every time I watch your videos I feel encouraged to set aside my fears of trying traditional art again, your videos are helping me a lot 🤍🤍
I’m glad I found you, I’ve been in an art pit for 2 years now and I’m finally starting to get out bc I got inspired by your work. I haven’t painted since I was like 15 and you got me trying gouache for the first time. I suck and it’s frustrating but I’m doing one every day and it’s getting there! I’m seeing improvement happen slowly and I feel like in between the painting rage I’m finding my love for creating again. Thanks for all you do!
I hope you do bind your own sketchbook. It makes them feel more personal to use. I love making sketchbooks. It’s also helped me get rid of the fear of “ruining” a sketchbook lol.

oh my goddd i felt attacked (in a positive way) when you started talking about putting ideas you (in the collective sense) are passionate about on the back burner because you feel your skills are inadequate. Its INFURIATING! I feel like going into every piece of art i make im gonna hate the result because i feel rusty no matter how much i practice! Its awful, and it sours the experience and i always wonder if ill ever fall out of love with art and thats terrifying. Ive never felt like i was great at art, but its always been a fun way to express an idea and thinking that id ever stop because i COULDNT express an idea adequately is scary! Like damn even little doodles escape me for some reason oTL but ill keep truckin for the time being i guess :,)
you got this! don't give up, I have been feeling similarly and I found that continuing to draw in spite of the negative thoughts helps so much, along with looking back at your old work and saying "I can do this, I have done it before, and I will do it again, and I will get better" That's what has been motivating me!
I tend to treat my sketchbooks like journals, and you never feel guilty about ruining pages in journals. But I wish I could do more finished pieces. I get so influenced by the music I'm listening to, so I'll get another idea for something else and just jump to that because I'm not in the same kinda energy that I was when I was making my earlier drawing, I can only think about the new one I want to do. It ends up just being a ton of heads on the page way too often 😞 I've been doing this for years and it's really stifled my ability to finish my works. If I don't knock something out in one long state of passion then it'll pretty much never be finished. It's very frustrating, I'm 23 now and if I could find a way over this issue I feel like I'd be much further along in my artistic skill development!

I'm thinking about doing this! my process is really simple, I mainly use my iphone to film and record voiceovers (the voice memo feature records decent audio tbh) and I just use Adobe Premiere Pro to edit.

So so gorgeous, your art is really pretty!! And I have a little "notebook" that my aunt gave me with some makeup, its literally a memo and I take it everywhere when I feel blocked so I can doodle in the lowest possible stress batrier.

35:11 I used to be consistent in high school too, I’d post every day and I too feel so inadequate when it comes to finished pieces, I can’t even draw backgrounds 😢 but you’re such a great artist and going at your own pace has still gotten you to a level of success I hope you’re able to find peace with your creations ❤
it’s tough, isn’t it? but it’s okay! Things were different than they once were, life changes! I’m content that I have maintained my practice in any way I can even if it’s not as crazy when I was younger 😂
I've only just recently found your channel and I'm loving your videos so far, it is so inspirational seeing your sketchbook, your linework is so so clean and gorgeous. Definitely inspires me to draw more and try out all the tons of art supplies I've collected over the years!!
i think the portion covering daily art streaks was really great and important. streaks can become really dangerous because it stops being about the art, and instead starts to become a chore and about meeting quotas. to me, if you truly enjoy something then you owe it to yourself to do it when you want to, and not because you feel you have to. feelings of guilt are completely valid but the goal should be acceptance and less about daily quotas. awesome to hear you talk about such a pervasive ‘narrative’ in art circles and online circles in general. side note, i love watching these so much. being able to observe the painting process from start to finish is so enjoyable. your ‘beginning’ sketches are so pleasing to the eye to me, i stare at them for ages (this one especially). the shading is just so visually pleasing, i cant put it into words. 30:41
