    One of my favorite parts of this show is when they give points to the audience. Makes the audience feel more like a part of the show (like The Price is Right).

    Alan was robbed by getting the klaxon for "walk" when the answer is "they mostly walk."
    Further, lobsters change "handedness" through their lives. They lose a claw and grow a new one. In the meantime the claw they didn't lose becomes dominant; then they end up losing that claw so the "new" claw becomes their "old" claw and is dominant as the new one grows in, etc.
    -- Source: IDK I read it somewhere. If I knew how I knew everything I know, I'd only be able to know half as much.

    Flying:
    Our pilot said before taxiing, "We're looking forward to a pleasant flight to Palmerston North. If you're not going to Palmerston North, now would be an ideal time to disembark."

    I always assumed "species" had the same etymological root as "special." So a "species of ______" is all the things that are considered to be that particular _____.🤷‍♂️❤️

    Years of Dungeons & Dragons, fantasy PC gaming, and just generally being a nerd, of course I knew that a crossbow bolt is a quarrel, and that a quiver of quarrels can be quarrelsome! :D

    At about 35:00 "Why can't the plane be equipped with two enormous parachutes" gets a bit of a laugh - but there is a system for small aircraft that will deploy an emergency parachute if there is a loss of control! It has evidently already saved a few lives.

    James Quinn shouldn't be mocked for his costume. Actors just wear what the costumer gives them.

    One could argue the computer model, but it isn't _quite_ optimal due to handbags and stowage. CGP Grey did a video on that matter.

    Closed captioning would make this show so much more accessible for those of us in the states.

    • @wenwilloughby8197
      @wenwilloughby8197 10 місяців тому +15

      If and when captioning is added it will first and foremost be for hearing-impaired people, rather than just 'people in the states' who are so accustomed to the entire world being tailored to them that they literally can't understand any accent outside their own.
      This show has been legally uploaded, in its entirety, with the extra-long versions, in great quality, and without interruption or adverts, *for free*! That is already enormously accessible, so you could start by saying 'thank you'.

      @@wenwilloughby8197All videos should have closed captioning. Being deaf or hard of hearing is really isolating. Thinking how much information we pick up from shows like this, or the news, or kids shows. It’s all part of learning, but deaf and hard of hearing people miss out. It’s quite an easy thing to do to be inclusive.

      I’m also from the US and have been watching UK shows for about 10 years. Y’all seem to have as many accents in England as the US, and we have quite the size difference. I love these comedians and it just does not seem to get easier to understand them. I can say the same thing about accents in certain parts of the US. If you don’t grow up there, you just don’t completely pick up the accent.
