The Countach started it all! it's the seminal Supercar and should be honored as an automotive icon. I don't care if it's not the fastest or best handling. It looks utterly COOL!
I saw one in person only once. the Countach came out in 1974 for the 1st time. and with a 4.5 Liter V12 generating 450BHP this was the supercar you could get on a budget. now they're still worth over $100,000
Yes, the registrations match. Looks like Harry lent his Countach out for the filming. If anything Harry does a better job of presenting what living with a Countach is like. Why does May expect an exclusive, hand built, limited production, classic super car to be practical? It wasn't intended to be.
Yeah I used to own that Countach - sold it to a chap called Paul who must have passed it on to Harry. My biggest regret was selling it for £42K - it's now worth almost £300K!
Saludos!
It is by far one of the most iconic supercars made back in the days. I love the looks of it, I would love to drive it. And if I were a rich guy, I would probably own one. But that don't mean it would be the most comfortable car to drive. Could perhaps come to same conclusion as James here about what makes it terrible. But it is a piece of history. Legendary. That alone, would make up for many downsides to something.
+Hammern28 So much this. I own a 1959 Chevrolet Impala and a 1968 Chevrolet Corvette, sometimes you just want a car because it is so beautiful, even if it is impractical or hard to drive. If I had the money, I'd own a Countach in a heartbeat!
I drive a v8 and it has heaps of torque and power, i cant even imagine what another 4 cylinders on top of that would be like, this car must absolutely fly
The Countach - the F104 Starfighter of the car world in so many ways. It worked, but there were so many issues, it almost didn't work . . . . . but it looked good.
When has that EVER happened with any car ever? Thats the whole point. Cars have their run (the countach had its run for 16 years!) and then they invent a new model to take over. Thats like saying they will bring back the porsche 928 or the 300zx.
***** 928 is coming. The 911 has been starting to look like 928 since 996 iteration. The last true 911 was the 993. All subsequent generations was basically 928 with engine in the back. Since engine in the front is "better" than in the back, the revival of the 928 is very likely to happen. All they need to do is to make the Panamera 2-door. That's all.
I have a yellow replica Lamborghini Countach I can tell that this guy is having the most exciting time in his life and I also have the same feeling when driving mine keep on rollin
+Maximilian Messmer Avantador is a grotesque caricature of a stealth jet fighter :) I am no longer 10 years old you know to be turned on by such crass :)
Its the changing of an auto makers habits. The mustang used to be a beautiful car, just look at a 67 fastback, and look at today where they put a 2.0 litre 4 cyllinder eco boost. Its very sad.
to back up this beast you had essentially no rear visiblity. Tiny mirror that looked through a slit and then the wing was in the way so you literally sat on the door sill hanging out of the car with a foot tippy toe on the brakes. Still car pron regardless
I'm sure we're all aware of how impractical it was, but I genuinely wanna know - was the Countach ever good on a track? I mean good full stop and good for its time.
It wasnt, one was used as a jgtc car back then and it performed badly. For a countach it was rather well, but as a racecar no. The diablo was a far more capable track car
"Cars Of The People" means cars owned by masses, not some rare supercars! Only criticism about the series. Mr. May, who are you to deprive people of your show just because a guy got hit by a guy?
The only thing I don't like about the Countach, besides the obvious stuff from cars three decades old, is that it really doesn't look good in any colors besides plain ones like red or yellow.
In white and black... eh. I considered those. But the Countach white.. it doesn't go well with all the little details on the car, such as the lights, wheels, etc. The same goes for the black. White makes the car looks cheap, black makes it look off. IMO. Really, even red and yellow don't suit the design that much better than white or black.
The Countach started it all! it's the seminal Supercar and should be honored as an automotive icon. I don't care if it's not the fastest or best handling. It looks utterly COOL!
imbluz imo, its predecessor, the Miura was the seminal supercar. 2 seater, rear engined V12.
The Miura is the seminal supercar. It`s the daddy, the first, genesis.
Still the most exotic Supercar ever made in my view:-))
James May is probably one of my favourite humans.
He clubs seals in his spare time.
That just made me like him even more.
; )
Agreed.
Yes,yes,yes,👏
Harry Metcalfe has a most AMAZING collection of vehicles...how nice of him to loan this Countach😀
I saw one in person only once. the Countach came out in 1974 for the 1st time. and with a 4.5 Liter V12 generating 450BHP this was the supercar you could get on a budget. now they're still worth over $100,000
Coolest lamborgihni Of all time
SVJ cooler
"Where we're going, we don't need roads!"
The music is also very 80s.
@ 2:52 "Sorry Harry" Is that from Harry's Garage?
Yes, the registrations match. Looks like Harry lent his Countach out for the filming. If anything Harry does a better job of presenting what living with a Countach is like. Why does May expect an exclusive, hand built, limited production, classic super car to be practical? It wasn't intended to be.
It is his, if you watch the full episode, he even appears in this segment as the owner.
Jup, even on his channel banner you can see the countach ass
Yeah I used to own that Countach - sold it to a chap called Paul who must have passed it on to Harry. My biggest regret was selling it for £42K - it's now worth almost £300K!
As a kid I had a huge poster of a white Countach on my bedroom wall. It was like something from outer space. Still looks as good today as it did then.
my fav old supercar

How can you not love James honestly??
The Lamborghini Countach is my favorite sport car.
One of the famous Harry’s Garage Lamborghinis
Good to see that Harry let him drive it!
Crazy to think its almost 40 years old. It looks timeless in my opinion

At last I'm in one. You've already drove one on old top gear. The blue lp400
I drive a v8 and it has heaps of torque and power, i cant even imagine what another 4 cylinders on top of that would be like, this car must absolutely fly
Utter wonder and beauty... I'd just say the Raddest car ever.
The Countach - the F104 Starfighter of the car world in so many ways. It worked, but there were so many issues, it almost didn't work . . . . . but it looked good.
Anyone knows the first song? In the original episode there was the Miami Vice theme there.
This is my favourite car
conngratulations toLamb for making captain slow running fast!!
They should put it back in production
+Chris Foltz Germans won't let it. They insists on uglifying everything, including the new R8.
YES, THEY SHOULD . AND NOT A MODERN DAY VERSION OF IT . THE ORIGINAL LOOK WILL DO JUST FINE. THE NEW LAMBORGHINI,S LOOK LIKE SHIT I THINK.
No, they won't. It would get beaten by a Focus RS.
When has that EVER happened with any car ever? Thats the whole point. Cars have their run (the countach had its run for 16 years!) and then they invent a new model to take over. Thats like saying they will bring back the porsche 928 or the 300zx.

This car is timeless whoever designed that shape should be celebrated
rest of the show please
this was clearly cutted from a longer produccion, does anyone know the name of it?
The Lamborghini Countach was an absolutely awesome looking car.
Just a pity about the rear view.
Love this version of labo
Nice, But for me, the Citrôen DS 21 from 1969 is my one and only dream car. Nothing else gets close!
I still Love the Black and Gold Edition the Best for Color
My fav supercar
This needs a modern upgrade with better functionalities and it BLOW THE MINDS OF CAR LOVERS EVERYWHERE!!!
what is the song that is playing in the beginning?
Still the king of supercars.
I wonder if a Mitsubishi Eclipse/Eagle Talon would beat it in a race? A Lambo is fairly heavy because of its unusual length and width.
power!!!
I have a yellow replica Lamborghini Countach I can tell that this guy is having the most exciting time in his life and I also have the same feeling when driving mine keep on rollin
Thats not even in the same league pal.
Shazam can't help, need help with song names...
Aaaaaaand I still want one!!!!
still my favorite Lamborghini.
Harry wont be happy with that review:)
Harry. Is from Harry's Garage. He owns this Countach and whole other exotics.
This car WAS the 80's
Beautiful Lamborghini. That and the early '90s Diablo. Lamborghini ended itself when Germans took over, at least aesthetically, it's gone.
+Andrew Piatek The Lamborghini Aventador doesn't look bad.
+Maximilian Messmer Avantador is a grotesque caricature of a stealth jet fighter :) I am no longer 10 years old you know to be turned on by such crass :)

The Aventador looks like a computer gaming mouse. I'm sick of this modern trend of pigfat, dreary looking cars. Just look at the new Honda NSX.
IamCombustible
Yeah, the styling seems to be done by 13 year old these days, and it shows.
He said its a thing of utter beauty, (which it is) but claims its ugly in older top gear.
if cars could just look that great today.
what a car
This is like THE super car
Fighter jet on the road.
to back up this beast you had essentially no rear visiblity. Tiny mirror that looked through a slit and then the wing was in the way so you literally sat on the door sill hanging out of the car with a foot tippy toe on the brakes. Still car pron regardless
thats the same countach he drives in the new ep of grand tour and owned by harry
I'm sure we're all aware of how impractical it was, but I genuinely wanna know - was the Countach ever good on a track? I mean good full stop and good for its time.

This and The Mclaren F1 would look modern today and still turn heads
E57 JAR no longer has a spoiler
God I miss TOp Gear
Asa Yagami This is not Top Gear. It’s a program James did called “cars of the people”
Ericsson , dude he's probably talking about an arcade game back in the days.
When people think about supercars they think of the modern stuff. Only enthusiasts know what cars like this.
May is friking brilliant.. But I am more a Diablo person
The door open like .. a delorean.
Downdraft Countach beastmode 👹
So....you're saying I should still get one?
Who came after Hoovie?
La prima e la più bella di tutte le Supercar ...COUNTACH
This car could keep up with a modern gallardo
Dont care... still love it.
L A M B O R G H I N I A L L T H E W A Y !
"Cars Of The People" means cars owned by masses, not some rare supercars!
Only criticism about the series.
Mr. May, who are you to deprive people of your show just because a guy got hit by a guy?
You haven't seen it till the end, did you? He explains his point by the end.
Sigh.
Wow they chould make an upgrade version of it with better fueleffision, aerodynamik and with carbonfiberbody. That would be cool
+joywith Joyce Why the hell would you do that??? It´s like saying you love someone but you want him/her to completely change the way he/she is!!!
So if a persons got a problem shouldnt you try to help them
The problems the car got today was not an issue then
I would love to do that! Latest modern engineering technique all wrapped up in a 1980's Italian exotic. :3
They are!
It looks like a toy but still looks wicked in GTA Vice city
It definitely doesn't still look modern now
I LOVE THE CAR . I HATE THE RIGHT HAND DRIVE.
15 mpg is better than each one of my cars and there only v8s not v12s.
exotic what? It's from Italy
Lamborghini Countach car of the people lololol
Why put another BRIT after BBC? WE GET IT YOU ARE BRITISH god...
simon199418 You must be some kind of super snowflake. That little thing triggered you? God!
stupidity triggers me, yes I have a problem.
If stupidity doesn't trigger you, you might just be stupid yourself...
To my knowledge BBC BRIT is a separate channel.
ua-cam.com/video/eKtlLym7Bzw/v-deo.html Here's a proper sountrack for this video
The only thing I don't like about the Countach, besides the obvious stuff from cars three decades old, is that it really doesn't look good in any colors besides plain ones like red or yellow.
+Revantu Or in white.
+Revantu Or in black. That one is the best.

+Revantu the 25th anniversary that came in silver looks the best
Youngster joey Oooh yes, I agree. Definitely. Looks amazing!
ehhhhh it looks ugly to me now but not when I had that Alpine poster on my bedroom wall
Harry Metcalfes Countach.
aventDOR is new boss
+Rustam Haubert THE COUNTACH LOOKS BETTER .
So as always: Form over function. A beauty to look at and listen to, but terrible to drive.
meh..its just a repeat of his Countach test on Top Gear...
Yep, Audi is about the best thing that ever happened to Lamborghini.
Mr metcaffles countach
Odio la guida a destra rovina le macchine
I don't like supercars, but diablo is better.
