what a video. No idiotic music in the background, no fancy yet annoying editing. just the Lamborghini sound and him talking NOTHING else. beautiful. Kudos +EVO you made my day :)
NOW - if only we can STOP TALKING......if you're an idiot, you need the babbling 'history lesson'. Most people do their homework, and know MUCH more than this muppet on the Lamborghini Countach.
I seen it two years ago on Xmas they on my block is something you can hear from couple of blocks away. It sounds amazing it was the same color as this one is one of the hardest cars to get out of. Is amazing looking I would love to own one.
I was born way after production of this car stopped, I was born in 1998 yet this car has and still remains one of my favourites. The car is absolutely mental which is why I love it and it sounds amazing. This is what a Lambo should be like. I would much rather have one of these than something like the Huracan
valgehiir Nope. TopGear really lost it's appeal near the end. It was all just the same jokes and none of them were particularly skilled behind the wheel. I prefer actual car driving to comedy.
eddiefara Yes everyone seems to want to get on TV not realizing that it is the dying medium. In a few years the internet will leave it for dead, Amazon Top Gear will probably help that actually.
lp400s was a BOOMM supercar during my childhood era. born in 87, this car easily became my fav supercar. since my brother had a lot of supercar's magazines and posters over a wall back then, by looking at this lp400s reminds me how close we are, me and my brother was a countach freak, this brings a lot of memories, of our relationship :)
Richard Meaden!!! I red Italian Evo magazine for 5 years, almost 20 years ago.. I always deamed to hear his voice, I loved the way he wrote.. I remember well, a couple of years later, when I started to see UA-cam videos for first times, after so many years dreaming the pure sound of those genuine supercars
Valentino Balboni says 'The engine sits up kind of high, making the car a constant dancer, which must be controlled at any time'. Especially on the italian country roads round St. Agatha which were it's test track I suppose. To me, it is eccentric the graceful way, playful but also modest and handstitched. Glorious days crowned with a sighed 'countach'. Thankyou.
Super cars like this used to be so special and hard to come by. Back then when you saw a Lamborghini or a Ferrari on the road it made you get all amazed and excited to see one. Nowadays you see super cars on the road like a dime a dozen and they don’t seem to excite me as much.
swansea007791 Oooh that's right... Yeah I meant the 1st one where the car is white and then they hose it down and it was actually red when they're running away from the cops. That scene made me want the car so bad :D
Oh my b. Hahaha whoops got them a little confused there for a second. Yeah I understand what you meant now. Yeah I like that "front spoiler/ splitter" on the Black Countach, never really seen a Countach in person with that modification.
swansea007791 Yeah. I would love to see a motor trend "throw back" head 2 head video of the Lamborghini Countach vs. The Ferrari F40. Definitely would be a dream come true in my opinion.
Ahhh, the Countach! THE poster car from my childhood. I had the famous Athena Countach 5000S poster adorning the wall of my room when I was young and it has been my dream car ever since... Great review Mr. Meaden. How I envy you...
I never thought I would see the car that was on back of a magazine from the top down when I was a kid. The Yellow Lambo LP400 with the wing. Although I think the one in the magazine had the front wing also. It was just a piece of art, that I would draw instead of pay attention to my Jr High School class.
Malc180s love this comment. to be fair the IT guy is probably a engines management systems engineer but i totally agree with you. all new cars are for pussies.
+Fiat x19 I had one on the 2nd car i ever owned, a super exotic Peugeot 205GTI 1.9, it sounded great but rotted away within the first 18 months (the exhaust, not the car), proper Italian engineering :)
the S version of the lp400 had different carburrettors mounted on the side to make rear visibilty better. it actuallt produces 353ps. unlike the periscopos and the 5000s 375ps. great review btw!
as a Lambo owner, my absolute favorite wet dream car is Countach. I almost purchased one several times but never had enough balls to pull that trigger. they all had less than 50k kilometers on the clock and I know I would drive it every chance I get and that's what scares me. my 2017 Huracan LP580 spider already have little over 11k miles and my 991.5 GT3 have just under 9k and they're not my daily ride. I drive my Hemi Ram mostly unless with my family. with my family, I bring out my 392 Charger. one day, one day I'll buy my Countach once I calm down a bit. what a beautiful film and thank you ever so much for uploading.
Seeing a Countach on the street, (or being driven properly on a track like in this video) gives me the same reaction as the first time I watched "Kiss Meets the Phantom" and saw Gene Simmons step up to the mic and sing, "Oh my god, that demon is alive!"
Ah the good old Countach, what a wonderful car. The original supercar as we know and imagine it. I hope that I can buy one of these cars one day. Anyway great video with a killer soundtrack :D
Ive had the pleasure of driving a Countach 5000s (see my videos) a couple times....wonderful car. Like Dickie said, a lot of the reputation of being hard to drive is a bit overblown. Still the best sound!
Pardon my EVO ignorance, but who is this guy? He did a stellar, musical job of the gear changes. Most people I see drive these things are hopeless, with no sense of timing and throttle work.
this is a classic s1 or s2 lowbody countach. It has deifferent front flares(they dont curl in at the bottom like later cars) and the old style Flag mirrors. They are also 3cm lower (yes in body) than the later countach's. I wish they had have kept them all the same.
I think it might have helped that you were driving at a comfortable pace on a closed circuit, and not on public roads. I still remember Mr. May (another huge Countach fan) hating driving one on the road. Still, I'm just happy seeing and more so hearing one! I do love an angry V12 >:-)
for his time, he was called as "ugly" when released, and today everyone knows how awesome, beauty, powerful and legendary he was. Veneno is the same, they calls that car as anything crap, but we know... when a new TRUE legend born, people will reject the evolution and will ofend the machine. but we know those machines will be the best machines forever and no one will broke this. in the future, some lambos like murcielago and veneno, will be the same master machine like countach are.
to me this is a super car its hard to drive its exciting not about the faster 0-60 with automatic dual clutch gearbox full of electronic.. i miss the 80-90s car
Thank you. Well needed dose of a legitimate animal. An animal in which set the bar for excess. Yet in this case excess makes perfect sense, does it not? Evo 🤘🏻🤘🏻 Keep on keepin' on
I still have my 1:18 model from my childhood. This car was and still is the epitome of the super car.... raw, sexy, brutal..... It was the choice of the Big Boys...... The head of the Nutella Gang had a couple of them..... including the appropriate girls on the passenger seat... ha ha...... In the world of 3l Cars and Electric Vehicles... this Countach is like THORS Hammer....and that is why I like it so much...... Recently on another auction there was a splendid green (verde metalizzato) for sale..... awesome....
jippalippa love it too. But it is a highbody. they stopped the lowbody countach mid series 2 lp400s. You can even see the difference just by looking although it is hard. The cannonball countach is a series 2 lowbody.
jippalippa yeah but the qv is the pick of the bunch, gotta love the engine hump also haha. the 25th anniversary is cool but a bit too much especially the rear bumper. The diablo (early ) rocks too.
I think that all the little boys born arround the 70's had this on their wall and dreamed of owning one. So that grinding face is the least you could do when touching that long term dream ! ;-)
I love the countach so much! I will never drive one for real if offered because I don't want my dream car to be disappointing. If only it drove as good as it looks ;(
+Porschemovies Don´t judge it by todays standards... The last 10 years only gave us high powered Ford Mondeos, but with fancier tags on the back^^ I think this car is the experience, although I´ll probably never drive one cause holy moly they are worth a shit load of dough these days. So I love cars that want to kill you every second, unpredictable and raw these cars still have a soul not like those driving computers todays car guys talk about ;-)
+unfound23 All excellent points and I agree to a extent, From personal experience I have been fortunate to have owned some of my dream cars including 1962 356B, 1979 928, 1989 928 s4, 2011 911 Turbo S PDK, 2006 Cayman, 1989 Ferrari Mondel T Cabrio, bunch of M3 and my current commuter a 06 E55 AMG with 600+ hp and 700+ TQ. Here is my take I found the 356 and it need a restoration, What a wonderful machine from the era if you think about it, Unibody, all wheel disk brakes, excellent build quality. After two years and some real coin behind it I was ready to drive it. I did and I was happy but not because it drove awesome but because it was a experience and sense of accomplishment. I knew what to expect. I had two dream cars being a child of the 80s the 928 and the Countach. Could not at the time afford the Countach, I found a cherry 1989 928 S4, it was very disappointing and I owned the car for 2.5 years. I have this expectation of the Countach that is not realist, so I can't drive one. But that being said I have been thinking of building one myself to my specifications and expectations just because I lust over the design.
+retro racing I'm short at 5'9ish I have been luck to fit in allot of small cars! Put it this way if someone really gave me the keys to one and said have at it I'm sure I would change my mind LOL
Porschemovies With classic cars it really helps if you have an inclination to mechanics and like the cars from the mechanical point of view, not just the looks or performance figures. So you can understand and appreciate something like a manual steering box, double barrel carburetors, racing type suspension, etc. and accept the compromises. Imagine the rewarding joy of driving a classic car after you fiddled yourself with it. I have never driven a Countach, but I can relate pretty easily to the car just by experiencing other classic sports cars and also knowing the facts and other technical characteristics of it.
Just realised that's Blyton Park, so you're about 3 fields away from my alley💛 a very welcome guest. Giza job!? I bought loadsa evo mags back in the day! I'm TopCat and you need new journalist! The one's you have write soppy love letter's, criiiiinge. Get with the Times and hire the top....
what a video.
@Adam Balding FUCK OFF RACIST SENPAI
These are starting to go for close to $1,000,000 mark in the auctions. Well deserved. The styling is so timeless.
Hats off to the sound guy the mic'd this car and the camera car. Superb. Pure music.
I agree, the sound level between the sound of the V12 engine and the voice of the driver is absolutely perfect in my opinion.
A true classic Italian, love the raging bull and here is one of the originals. Bellissimo!!
Growing up every 80's child had a countach poster up on his wall!
+Komor Uddin On my wall was a Stratos! xD
+Komor Uddin Right between my Porsche 959 and Ferrari F40 poster :-)
+Komor Uddin I too, along with the 959 and F40
+Komor Uddin That is where it belongs though. It didnt meant to be driven.
I seen it two years ago on Xmas they on my block is something you can hear from couple of blocks away. It sounds amazing it was the same color as this one is one of the hardest cars to get out of. Is amazing looking I would love to own one.
Ah, childhood-dreamcar, big poster on the wall. I still love the design of this thing, the sound ... everything.
It's just a delight to look at, especially in person. The De Tomaso Pantera and Ferrari Testarossa were also dream cars of mine as an 80's kid.
That noise from the V12 says it all. The delicate sound of thunder. Pink Floyd must of had 1 when they wrote that track.
What song do you mean?
and AC/DC's Thunderstruck too!
I am loving seeing these classic supercars being driven! Thank you EVO for providing these gems!
I was born way after production of this car stopped, I was born in 1998 yet this car has and still remains one of my favourites. The car is absolutely mental which is why I love it and it sounds amazing. This is what a Lambo should be like. I would much rather have one of these than something like the Huracan
Easily my favourite car of all time.
I couldn't give less of a fuck about new Top Gear and Amazon Top Gear when Evo, Motor Trend and Chris Harris are putting out videos this good.
+LynxAdvert so you won't be watching when Amazon starts the stream of new TG then. You are not full of shit at all!
valgehiir Nope. TopGear really lost it's appeal near the end. It was all just the same jokes and none of them were particularly skilled behind the wheel. I prefer actual car driving to comedy.
rumour has it Chris Harris is going to be on the new BBC top gear - fucking sucks if you ask me, he belongs on the Internet not the fast outdating TV
eddiefara Yes everyone seems to want to get on TV not realizing that it is the dying medium. In a few years the internet will leave it for dead, Amazon Top Gear will probably help that actually.
+eddiefara Thats not going to happen, trust me.
The countach in time will go down as the greatest supercar ever made. The prices are starting to skyrocket higher than any car in its time and class.
The old bull still kicking
despite it being very hard to drive i'd still own and drive one alot
lp400s was a BOOMM supercar during my childhood era. born in 87, this car easily became my fav supercar. since my brother had a lot of supercar's magazines and posters over a wall back then, by looking at this lp400s reminds me how close we are, me and my brother was a countach freak, this brings a lot of memories, of our relationship :)

4:33 and on top of it all it spits flames like a fucking dragon! Awesome.
this was on my wall for a good 10 years
MY BODY IS READY EVO
+Antoine Marty My god EVO, that felt real nice.
Loving EVO doing all these old dream cars videos.
You guys are on fire lately with your EVO icons series.
More of this please! I wouldn't mind extended versions of this either.
Valentino Balboni says 'The engine sits up kind of high, making the car a constant dancer, which must be controlled at any time'. Especially on the italian country roads round St. Agatha which were it's test track I suppose. To me, it is eccentric the graceful way, playful but also modest and handstitched. The most beautiful Lamborghini ever. The yellow color is perfect for this model.
Super cars like this used to be so special and hard to come by. Back then when you saw a Lamborghini or a Ferrari on the road it made you get all amazed and excited to see one. Nowadays you see super cars on the road like a dime a dozen and they don’t seem to excite me as much.
Remember seeing it in Cannonball Run 2. What a beautiful car. Definitely ahead of it's time when it was released.
swansea007791 Oooh that's right... Yeah I meant the 1st one where the car is white and then they hose it down and it was actually red when they're running away from the cops.
That scene made me want the car so bad :D

swansea007791 Yeah. I would love to see a motor trend "throw back" head 2 head video of the Lamborghini Countach vs. The Ferrari F40. Definitely would be a dream come true in my opinion.
Great to see a Countach driven on-track. Of all the videos I've seen to date, I've never seen this one driven on road course.
Ahhh, the Countach! THE poster car from my childhood. I had the famous Athena Countach 5000S poster adorning the wall of my room when I was young and it has been my dream car ever since... Great review Mr. Meaden. How I envy you...
As a person born in 96', I grew up with the murcielago and gallardo on my walls, so it's nice to see where it all began.
Another awesome film with an absolute legend of a car. I'm in love with your ICONS series. I just want some more ! :D
I never thought I would see the car that was on back of a magazine from the top down when I was a kid. The Yellow Lambo LP400 with the wing. Although I think the one in the magazine had the front wing also. It was just a piece of art, that I would draw instead of pay attention to my Jr High School class.
400r, 300sl, and now this. wow. looking forward to the next video
The Countach is simply something else! It was… and is still THE supercar standard bearer.
I'm not wild about Lambos but what. a. gorgeous sound! And it's great to have a person who knows what they're doing and respects the car.
Proper supercar. That's how a supercar should start up too - not with some shite blare of revs programmed by some IT guy.
Malc180s love this comment. to be fair the IT guy is probably a engines management systems engineer but i totally agree with you. all new cars are for pussies.
Since I was about 5 when I saw Canonball Run this is my Favourite car.
awesome camera angles! i like especially the one shows the movement of wheels
The Countach is one of the greatest of all time!
Thank you so much for sharing your experience! The sound on the video is awesome.
The GREATEST SUPER CAR ever or ever will be yes on my wall finally 88 kit in my shop makes me smile every time I look at it great video!
I saw the first one in London...and the next one in Paris.
Both stay in my mind...until today.
Not the most beautiful, but most special.
That exhaust! I love Ansa
listen to that at 5:18 - 5:23
Love the flag style Vitaloni mirrors and the absence of side skirts that were present on later cars....👍👍
Such a beauty this car, I must see THE video first but its allways good to see one
Good old ansa exhausts never failed to sound good on old italian cars.
They are expensive right?
+carlos ortiz they sound good because they are not stainless steel
+Fiat x19 I had one on the 2nd car i ever owned, a super exotic Peugeot 205GTI 1.9, it sounded great but rotted away within the first 18 months (the exhaust, not the car), proper Italian engineering :)
+M3Conv I've had one on my car but the drone was biblical!
Fiat x19
nice!,
Good review. Absolutely one of my favorite cars. The sound is unbelievable. Though I was never a fan of yellow on the Countach.
Such a bad ass car! I don't think I'd want it in yellow though
the S version of the lp400 had different carburrettors mounted on the side to make rear visibilty better. it actuallt produces 353ps. unlike the periscopos and the 5000s 375ps.
great review btw!
as a Lambo owner, my absolute favorite wet dream car is Countach.
Masterpiece with pure engine sound
A true contender hard to ignore
Fantastic car!!!
My dream car, when I win the lottery I will have one of these and an F40 in my garage
best sounding engine ever
This car is the reason why I've always loved Lamborghini.. #transformers
Seeing a Countach on the street, (or being driven properly on a track like in this video) gives me the same reaction as the first time I watched "Kiss Meets the Phantom" and saw Gene Simmons step up to the mic and sing, "Oh my god, that demon is alive!"
Is this a high body, I think so.
Ah the good old Countach, what a wonderful car. The original supercar as we know and imagine it. I hope that I can buy one of these cars one day. Anyway great video with a killer soundtrack :D
2:11 I remember the impact it made back in the day because I was a kid. The usual reaction was 'HOLY F**K!'
When death comes to pick me up for my final journey, I hope to fuck he is driving this.
Ive had the pleasure of driving a Countach 5000s (see my videos) a couple times....wonderful car. Like Dickie said, a lot of the reputation of being hard to drive is a bit overblown. Still the best sound!
looks beautiful and sound gorgeous....lucky man Dicky!
Pardon my EVO ignorance, but who is this guy? He did a stellar, musical job of the gear changes. Most people I see drive these things are hopeless, with no sense of timing and throttle work.
British car commentators driving LHD cars might be my favorite sub-genre of car video.
Highway and highway 2 with Reynolds🙌😀
This is the best car on earth for me
Nice car and video. Quick question, was that car ever white or is the paint rubbed off at the gap between the bumper and fender flare at 4:11?
still loving it!! great video
this is a classic s1 or s2 lowbody countach. It has deifferent front flares(they dont curl in at the bottom like later cars) and the old style Flag mirrors. They are also 3cm lower (yes in body) than the later countach's. I wish they had have kept them all the same.
this is a high body unfortunately
Great video. Please review the A310 one of these days.
Tell Sotherby's that their marketing worked and I saw this on your channel before I bid.
My absolute dream car.
I think it might have helped that you were driving at a comfortable pace on a closed circuit, and not on public roads. I still remember Mr. May (another huge Countach fan) hating driving one on the road.

Great review. I didn't think much of the Countach, but this gives me an idea.
Beautiful. Apart from the wing mirrors. They can't be right surely?
As a kid it was epic....now it looks like a lamborghini monster-truck! lol! Those tires!
Those ugly door mirrors should be replace for Vitaloni Sebring, but this car is absolutely gorgeous in 2021. A truly iconic timeless design
to me this is a super car its hard to drive its exciting not about the faster 0-60 with automatic dual clutch gearbox full of electronic.. i miss the 80-90s car
@EVO please can you tell me the name of the song starts a 0,50 ? thank you. By the way beautiful vidéo
Absolutely Fantastic Review!! Well Done!! :)
I don't care that this is essentially just an ad for RM Auctions. Its a great car. Simple as that.
Thank you. Well needed dose of a legitimate animal. An animal in which set the bar for excess. Yet in this case excess makes perfect sense, does it not? Evo 🤘🏻🤘🏻 Keep on keepin' on
Before the LFA made THE NOISE, this thing made .. THE NOISE.
I love this channel
wow that sounds amazing
The OG supercar.

+msobic Fun fact: the Huracan has a bigger engine.
a car that is worth to dream about it and own it
Did he just throw out the word recalcitrant? I haven't heard that word since I studied for the SATs...props lol
Yes please!
would like to hear original exahust..Ansa sound a little boomy.
Best Car Ever!
Most beautiful car ever
i prefer slightly later models from the mid 80s. Still awesome piece of motoring
these lp400s were actually lower in the body than the lp500s so they looked sleeker while the mid 80s looked higher and not so cool.
***** maybe not late 80s. i love the QV from 85
jippalippa love it too. But it is a highbody. they stopped the lowbody countach mid series 2 lp400s. You can even see the difference just by looking although it is hard. The cannonball countach is a series 2 lowbody.
***** I guess a white LP400s with black interiors is the best looking one.
jippalippa yeah but the qv is the pick of the bunch, gotta love the engine hump also haha. the 25th anniversary is cool but a bit too much especially the rear bumper. The diablo (early ) rocks too.
The Original Icon.
I think that all the little boys born arround the 70's had this on their wall and dreamed of owning one. So that grinding face is the least you could do when touching that long term dream ! ;-)
