    Thank you for taking the time to post a video about these! I just picked up 2 at the Home Depot in Grand Rapids, MI on 54th St. today! When I asked where to find them, they said they would be by the rest of the Ridgid in the aisle. They weren’t. I explained that everyone in my situation has been told this same thing. I explained that when I called to check availability, their system said that they had 3 in stock. What about the area that they put products that don’t have an assigned spot yet? “Voila!” He found them on the very top.

      Glad they found them. They were across the aisle and up top in cardboard shipping boxes at my Home Depot.

    Best review so far, I hope rigid is still growing their packouts with more unleaked stuff because they have a good system going

      Thanks for the kind words!
      I hope so as well. I’ve always liked the built quality and price on the Ridgid boxes but have always thought drawers are the only thing that should be at the bottom of the stack. The 2.0 system with the wall mounts and removable handle has kept me from selling them off. Dewalt with their pro cart with the folding hangers is the only one to allow for bottom drawers so far (Besides maybe Flex Stack Pack which I don’t see as being widely adopted or worth it). Ridgid is maybe limiting themselves to not cannabalize Milwaukee (both TTI), which is unfortunate.
      The competition is heating up, which benefits everyone!

      Rigid is only plumbing tools. All electric Rigid tools is made by AEG (that's TTI grop) and packout system made by Ketter (Israeli manufacturer), so in that system there is no connection with TTI.

    The only problem with Ridgid boxes is the clip system. After a year of stacking and unstacking, the plastic hooks that the latch clips into are worn out. They don't stay clipped together when I drive and hit a bump in the road.
    Too bad because I like the boxes otherwise. The removable dolly is awesome!
    Would be nice if they came out with a two drawer box half the height to load up with screws nails small parts.
    I'm tempted to try ToughBuilt Techstack.

      They should have made those latches user replaceable.

    I don't mind unstacking boxes when I get to the job but having the drawers on the bottom lets you keep a couple units stacked for a work surface and still access everything as needed. Biggest thing is being able to roll everything in and out in one or two trips as opposed to lugging 5 boxes one at a time plus all your other odds and ends that get tossed in the handy tote crate.

    Cheaper than Milwaukee which charges $159.00 or even as high as $179.00! Ridgid is a far better choice.

    The handle alone will be sold separately some day…it is on their website. The handle from the 2.0 version bottom box is removable and the drawer boxes attach directly to the handle as the bottom box - finally!

  • @3jmontg
    @3jmontg 9 місяців тому +1

    How do they compare to tstak? 2 ridgid drawer boxes would be equal to 4 tstak drawer boxes (2 deeps & 2 doubles).

    • @Snowmannorth
      @Snowmannorth 9 місяців тому

      I have some Tstak, but they can barely hold a toothpick without dragging the drawer bottom. Very dissatisfied with their build. Gonna get rid of them. These Ridgid seem to be built like a tank.

    • @ccr8002
      @ccr8002  9 місяців тому +2

      Honestly, the Tstak with the newest version of the drawer slide work great for their purpose. The bottom drawer rides on the plastic by design. The Craftsman VersaStack don’t have this or older Tstak models. A tiny drawer in a smaller footprint. For my screwdrivers, pliers, picks, etc. they’ve been great. Also, the Dewalt drawer latches are nice to have. The Tstak dividers are removable and the piece that holds the dividers is not in the way when dividers aren’t used, where the Ridgid notches are in the way. The Toughsystem drawers are the best drawers as far as design quality and feel. Stacking issues exist but can be remediated by adding the insert linked below or a small piece of wood to keep them from leaning when stacked (DeWalt ToughSystem V2.0 Drawers Anti Wobble Stabilising Inserts$9.34Etsy5.0(6)). I made my own wood inserts. There is no overlap in drawer size between the ridgids and Dewalts. Dewalt toughsystem has the widest drawers. Many of my tools are between 16 and 17 inches and fit side to side in the Dewalt ToughSystem and do not in any other system including Ridgid. Again the Tstaks are great for those smaller things. Dewalt ToughSystem has the best drawer function, width, and latches. The Ridgids are all around great with the stacking, and ability to lock them, but I’m assuming they will stop at these for another decade, which sucks. The only downside is they didn’t make them 17” wide inside the drawer. Many of my multi-row socket holders, socket trays, etc. fit in the Dewalt ToughSystem and don’t fit any other system. I’ll try to get another video up comparing them. All of mine shown in the video were purchased since Black Friday and I’ve reconfigured them a billion ways. The Dewalt TS seem like they are flimsy drawers in store but I’ve loaded them with 25+ lbs each and have experienced no issues with daily use plus they are cheap on sale. They are actually the most rigid drawers I’ve used. Just like my power tools, I use whatever works for me and buy adapters whether from Dewalt or Etsy for the rest. Buy them all and test them a little and if they don’t work, return them. Amazon/Acme for Tstak, HD/CPO Outlet/Acme for the ToughSystem. HD only for Ridgid. All of these are made in Israel by Keter.
      **The handles for the Ridgid drawers are $49 while the mega box + handles are $69 right now.
      **If ToughBuilt had their drawers out, I’d have none of these most likely except maybe the Tstak for the smaller tools and easy of portability. That’s assuming the drawers are 17” wide.

      @@ccr8002 I like everything about the Tstak except the dragging drawers. I also have some Versastack which it does not seem to be an issue with. The latches and slides are great. It doesn’t help the situation at all by where the bottom pushes up when set down or stacked. I may try the spacer idea that another UA-camr came up with to mount on the outside edge of all four corners to move the weight there.

      @@ccr8002 fun fact: craftsman tradestack (basicly dewalt tough system w/less options and no weather seal on the drawers)
      If you are at lowes and look inside the tradestack drawers, they actually have ads for more drawer options, including "1 big drawer", which is something else everyone has been wanting but most end up making their own out of wood. Anyways, thanks again for such great insight on all the drawers!

      They haven’t released a two drawer yet, but if you have two drawer boxes, you can actually move the drawer slides so you can have one two drawer box and one four drawer. They will obviously be releasing different drawer configurations because the box is designed for different drawer locations, but they haven’t offered them yet.

      The small drawers are only 2 inches deep, so not much room for large tools, but good for smaller stuff. My brad nailer just fits in the small drawer. The large drawer will fit most hand and power tools, aside from a circular saw or similar.

    • @ccr8002
      @ccr8002  9 місяців тому +2

      Also, unlike the Dewalts, there is no middle piece/dividers between the drawers to support a latch, so the smaller drawers could be removed and you’d have an open top bottom drawer for larger tools. I’ll just put a box on top for those items though. ToughBuilt will have large single drawer bottom boxes coming in 2024. If they successfully release those, it will be a game changer.
