Every time I see Ed’s speeches I am in awe at how rational and well planned they are. I wish I had his courage and could get over the fear of making others uncomfortable. I’ve been vegan for 7 months, veggie for 9 years before that and I really hope that I can one day share this message with others. Much love to everyone at Cornell who made this possible and attended the event.
Thank you, Cornell and Ed. It is so important to have these talks....for people to begin to question and think, for themselves. Connect to what's real and meaningful. HUGS
Always love listening to Ed speak and so glad he goes to different schools and universities to spread the veganism. I probably would have gone vegan sooner if I had him to speak at my school when I was younger.
What a fantastic voice for animal advocacy you are Ed. Your talks give me a voice, to enable me to debate the virtues of veganism with my friends, family, or anyone I speak to.
it's a white middle class movement. go to a third world country and see how they rely on meat. you dont know how the world works. typical out-of-touch middle class twat
@@jw6871 Look at a map of meat consumption. The rich west consumes far more than any third world country. Please educate yourself before calling someone out-of-touch, it's kind of embarassing.
James Washington it’s really not though. I was born in rural Kenya and lived there half my life, now I live in the DC metropolitan area, so I’ve seen both sides. Meat is a luxury item back home and most meals consist of rice or some other type of carb and beans, vegetables, and legumes. I would say that at least 70% of my diet was vegan without even knowing what veganism was. A vegan diet is the cheapest and most achievable diet on the planet if you eat/look for the right things.
I think Ed describes it really well at the start. The whole idea of not eating meat is just something that's rarely discussed properly, it's typically nothing more than a basis for a joke or just some arbitrary bit of information here and there. When you stop and think about it, when it becomes more of a prominent topic in your life (say if you make friends with a vegan) then it starts to come to the front of your mind more and you really start to question things. Like, I heard on the radio today about some girl saying how disgusting it is to eat dogs in other countries and it's like they don't even realise that they're eating animals themselves, that these animals are just as intelligent and sentient and it's all this brainwashing and disconnect that makes people think otherwise. I genuinely believe most people would go vegan if they were just more aware and conscious of what they were eating and the process leading up to their food being on their plates; they say they "know" but they don't really... they just know in a very objective, disconnected way.
kyrenity Well said!! It's hard to get past childhood indoctrination . . . I think Ed helps some people out of that maze by being such a great speaker (no cue cards!!).
I’ve been waiting for his U.S. college talks to be uploaded! Thank you so much for sharing. I didn’t quite get to see him in Maine. Love what you guys are doing and Ed as a voice for the movement.
I love what you are doing and how you speak Earthling Ed 💙. I absolutely understand the lady who asked about feeding her pets. I was terrified about buying vegan cat food but the veganpet catfood here in Australia has the taurine that my cats need. They have been thriving for several years now and my dog is on biopet vegan dogfood and vegetable stews. All are thriving and i love that i do not contribute to the death of one species to feed another.
I have dogs, I've always rescued them, either way to me they are a loving addition to my family and I enjoy my responsibilities for them. My point is that dogs are the best companions and literally enhance life especially since human companions are not as loyal and certainly lack being unconditional, they are a gift from God, a true blessing! I hope the future includes pets and that those who have them can actually appreciate them and return the kindness. As far as pet food maybe beyond meat can create a product that will also sustain and help animals to thrive.
On the bullying question of recommend enrolling the kid in Brazilian jujitsu or something along those lines. The parent could share that situation with the instructor and that instructor could be a positive mentor to the child while teaching them confidence and self defense. I know this is an older video but maybe you will get similar questions down the road and I feel that would help empower these kids.
Does anybody have a reference for the Syrian refugees in Canada having to work in slaughterhouses? It's very believable but I'd like to be able to say it with authority.
You literally just have to do the research yourself. Eating meat and animal products shortens your life and you are more likely to get cancer and heart disease
Did you ever consider that it only became 'acceptable' to kill our babies when we don't have to because our value for life was already diminished by finding it 'acceptable' to kill animals when we dont have to.
I’m mostly pro life and am vegan. You don’t have to agree with him on health and abortion, that has nothing to with exploiting and killing animals for unnecessary reason.
You are literally killing yourself everytime you eat a steak or eat cheese or eggs. Eating a plant based diet is proven to lengthen your life span and eating animal products increases your risk of cancer and heart disease
@@danbrowner280 I dont need to do research. I tried to make this lunatic diet work for years and it almost killed me. I only could recover eating tons of meat, fish, eggs and drinking gallons of milk. I wish you all the best, but you will end up eating meat again. Trust me.
I wish I got a chance to go to this. I’m applying to Cornell in Fall 2020 for Nutrition, specifically focusing on plant based nutrition.
more power to you Ed...thank you for all you do. The world needs to hear the truth and all you say.

This man is not an health practitioner and also advocates abortion, he should not be giving ethical or dietary advice..

In my world, 'advocating abortion' is being pro-choice, and not the same as being pro-infanticide.
