    People need to listen to this man. My first job was in a dairy farm. I stayed there for 6 years then worked in a slaughterhouse but not on the kill floor. I’ve taken many calves from their mothers and I always felt bad about it. They never get over it and they do cry for a long time. The calves get treated the worst but it’s no better for the mothers either. I started there when I was 13 and saw things done to cows worse than shown in Dominion. I felt it was wrong but told myself it was normal. I was raised to believe that. Keep my mouth shut and do my job. I got out of the industry the day I saw a cow bolt out of the slaughterhouse. They had sliced his stomach open while still alive. Staff that came out were all laughing and making bets how far he would get before dropping. They thought it was funny. Take it from me, it’s hell for cows and most people I worked with loved it and laughed while torturing them. I’ve been vegan 4 months now and the industries need to shut down. There was always something that stuck with me about the cows. They have a sense of humour and personality. some would play with me and I swear when I fell over once they thought it was funny. I never forgot that day because I knew then they’re just like us. I regret ever being part of their suffering. If I can change, everyone can. It’s really hell for the animals and nothing funny about it.

      I'm so sorry you experienced so much horror so young but I applaud your ability to see right and wrong and make a change. It's hard to go against the tide but you are a great example that change is possible! I've been Vegan for almost 15 years and it is easier and more accepted now than it's ever been (I was vegetarian before that and back in the 80s THAT got me a ton of flack!) So stay strong and keep telling your story you never know who it will resonate with 🌱💚.

    I've been playing these videos in the background as I do my makeup in the morning. With no intention other than to just educate myself. However, this morning my roommate came up to me and told me that he had been listening as I was doing my make up for the past two months or so. @Kieran Jones Says the guy that looked up vegan videos to just argue with people in the chat. You'll eventually change. B12 is the only vital(keyword here) nutrient a vegan diet can't give you. Well actually I'm drinking it in my coffee right now. I record my diet a lot. Noting is missing. I'm far healthier now then I was while eating meat. I was lacking so much because I only really cared about protein and carbs. Cronometer shows me all the micro-nutrients I'm getting in my food. I might have cut back on some hahaha. I think most people wont go vegan because they love fast food too much hahaha. What a crazy addiction. More important than an animals life. Sad really.

      Kieran Jones vitamin A is so easy to get as a vegan, if you aren’t getting vitamin a on any diet that’s an issue. there’s spinach, kale, peppers, sweet potatoes, mangoes, basically anything dark green or orange. d can be absorbed through the sun, and is so commonly deficient among even meat eaters that both dairy and vegan mills are fortified with it. if you’re deficient in d just take a supplement period. you can easily get vitamin k from greens and other sources so i’m not sure what you mean? there’s new research finding that there may actually be plant sources of b12 such as water lentils, and there’s also nutritional yeast and fortified soy and pea milk. plus b12 supplements are cheap. creatine isn’t even a “nutrient” you need to consume... your body produces it but you can supplement vegan or nonvegan creatine if that’s what you want?

      @jeremiahmiller5412 5 років тому +6

      @Conan it's not really a con though, he makes good points but often times people haven't heard those points so videos about it can get repetitive. Doesn't mean he's wrong or that it's a con though
      Edit: imagine a channel like this dedicated to talking to flat earthers or antivaxxers. Eventually the UA-camr would develop a kind of script as the same flawed arguments get repeated over and over by the people being interviewed

      Conan it’s hard to tell, right? Obviously he benefits from this position, this is most vegan activists’ dream. He is paid to travel around, spreading the gospel and he also gets money through his youtube views. Yet not everyone gets the opportunity, i think a lot of why ed gained popularity was because he was male in a sea of female activists, so he would appeal to young women but also people tend to prefer listening to male speakers and see them as more authoritative than whiny.
      That being said, I think it’s positive because this speech is compelling and he’s certainly grown as a public speaker who tailors his speech to his audience. I think he over/mis-used some words here like ‘intrinsically’ but he’s appealing to intellectuals and reason. So i say good for him and if you read most the comments, they’re about how he changed their life. Imagine what sort of influential people he could inspire at Harvard.

    I've been thinking about turning vegan for a long time. I have always considered this possibility, but I have never studied deeply about it or had any initiative in it. About a week ago I discovered your channel coincidentally and then the whole world changed for me. I became vegan as fast as an arrow, my heart just can't let me explore the animals anymore. I was able to know more about the veganism, about reality and everything I had questions about, and although I am still in the process of abolishing everything of animal origin from my house, I feel infinitely freer and happier now.
    It's like now i'm in harmony with nature and in complete peace. I'm totally sure that all the animals you have saved have you in their hearts, and even those you have failed to save, those are shining for you, the shining stars in the sky. Because your heart is like this, like the warm and loving infinite, with no space for cruelty. Continue with your wonderful work in search of a better world. Thank you for everything, Ed.

      @Nerdzik Ektomorfik The animal rights movement is also about human rights. Historically, disenfranchised and undocumented people are pressured to except jobs at slaughterhouses which very often results in them developing PTSD from the horror of killing countless innocent beings everyday. Also there have been many instances of worker's rights violations such as lack of safety equipment, sexual harassment, threats of termination if you take a restroom break and the list goes on. I'm sorry if you've had bad interactions with vegan activists in the past, but I hope you can find it in your heart to move past those isolated incidents and move forward in a more positive fashion. I wish you the best.

      @Nerdzik Ektomorfik I would just like to comment on the malnourished children: somewhere I have the feeling that the scenario you are portraying is not realistic. But even so, as a vegan you can drink milk. Mothers milk. From a human. You just don't drink it from other animals. And we don't need to. We need milk when we are babies, but luckily our own mothers produce everything we need.
      I by the way never heard of any vegan who didn't want to breastfeed her baby because she thought this was unethical. So I guess what you said is not a reflection of reality, but just a misunderstanding about what vegans actually do.
      PS. The world health organization stated that veganism is healthy for every stage of life, so also for babies.

      @Nerdzik Ektomorfik You know that not all animals eat meat. They are called herbivores and have distinctly different physiology and anatomy of natural meat eater. I'm sure you don't care about facts but, human anatomy and physiology is of a herbivore not carnivore.
      This comment isn't really for you because anyone that tries to claim a baby drinking his mom's breast milk is not vegan clearly isn't looking for truth/knowledge. It is for others who are on the fence but are being held back by blatant disinformation, such as claims that humans are designed to eat meat.

I still love with my mom, my sister, her husband , and they’re 2 year old child. I was a little anxious to tell them at first because I thought they’d make fun of me, however, I got the complete opposite reaction with in a couple weeks of me being vegan they all followed suit! My brother in law still eats meat occasionally but he drastically cut down and eats our vegan food majority of the time. Even my little 2 year old nephew. And I never once told them to go vegan, they just saw my actions, thought for themselves, and made their own choice and I couldn’t be happier for them! Even the United Nations stated that people going vegan would drastically help in reversing global climate change. How can eating meat possibly be better for the environment when it requires 18 times more land to feed someone on a meat based diet as opposed to someone on a plant based diet. Animal agriculture requires more land, more water, and actually requires the production of more grains to feed the animals, and not to mention the amount of waste the animals produce that ends up in the ocean destroying sea life as well.

Is there anything holding you back from getting involved?

    • @wille6788
      @wille6788 5 років тому

      Southy
      Ed among other activists spread a message which reaches hundred thousands of people who later on do what themself can to make an impact too.
      And it’s not a show for money or fame, since they have to put in more money in these projects than what they usually gain and I imagine it being more work than you’re imagining.
      Ed aswell as other activists such as Joey Carbstrong visits abattoir often and protest.
      It’s crystal clear that their work is genuine.
      Why are you being petty?
      and what are you yourself? What change have you made?

    • @wille6788
      @wille6788 5 років тому

      Southy Damn you’re salty. also lame that you like your own comment.
      I never stated that they don’t prioritize they’re own well being before anything else. And I don’t see it as an problem that they make money from what they’re doing either since it’s good work filling an important purpose.
      But it’s clear that you wont get rich from doing what they’re doing, and it isnt a walk in the park either.
      Both mentioned activists have the capacity to succeed in other stress free fields and make 10x more money than currently.
      Can you prove that their work isnt authentic? If not then you should stop shittalking.
      you’re projecting your own despisefull attitude and your own lack of purpose.

You could also take footage to spread the message outside of where you live if you'd like. Fantastic lecture! For me, this is the best non-health related video about veganism to share. It's the best video generally but people also need to understand the health aspect. "Potentially our health" is a bit of a disservice to the scientific consensus on the topic. I adopted veganism initially for health reasons. I was always uncomfortable about buying meat (unaware at the time of the cruelty of the diary industry) but I did not want to confront the truth, yet it was the health experiment that showed me it was feasible, actually quite easy and allowed me finally to confront the truth. Now that I know about the three pillars of veganism I pray I will never go back.

      @@clenogallagher1469 you dont understnad how much vegans hear this hehe, its a good point though.
      basically, veganism is about minimising animals deaths and wildlife destruction. the best way to do this is only eat plants (i did think a bit though taht maybe just eating grass fed cows might kill less, but this is not the case i found upon research). its is about doing out best, but perfection is impossible. by just existing we are killing other beings, but that doesnt justify not putting any effort in.
