I’m with Paul
Running out of Bacon 😂😂😂
Yep that’s a deal breaker 😉
Cheers

Thanks Jack we’re looking forward to getting out there

Thank you and Happy New Year to you 😉

Hey Paul & Wenda, Happy New Year.
Thanks for all the info, there were some great tips!
Looking forward to seeing your 2024 adventures.
Stay safe & enjoy your travels.
Corrie & Lyn ❤
Thank you Corrie and Lyn, happy new year to you also. We’re looking forward to 2024 and see what it brings 👍Thanks for your support and encouragement
Cheers Paul and Wenda
Hi Paul and Wenda I've been enjoying your travels for some time now very much. On the subject of bugs.
Try K mart for the gas cans $4.50 last time I checked checked.
Cheers Mick
Thanks Mick that’s great to hear 👍and thanks for the tip, we’ll check out Kmart for the gas cans
Cheers Paul and Wenda
Thanks for the video- so many great ideas 😊
You could also try wearing light coloured clothing and hats. Mosquitoes are attracted to dark colours. Fly nets for hats work well too.
Yeah we don’t give enough thought to clothing colours. We do have a couple of fly nets but not used them yet
Cheers Paul and Wenda
That was very informative Thank you
Thanks 😊 glad it was helpful
Cheers Paul and Wenda
Those "Enviro Safe" fly traps work really well. Unfortunately they smell like rotting road kill after the first few hundred flies have died.
Yeah I think that’s why we’ve been reluctant to use it lol
Cheers
Brilliant thanks
Thank you 😉
Thanks guys, just catching up :)
Thank you ❤
Thanks for watching 👍
Cheers
great video guys
Thanks 👍
Great Video, loved it.
A winner😊😊
Thank you 😊
As always guys very informative. Sadly we tend to only look for these deterrents when we are being attacked. Think we need to rethink our approach to bug management. 😂 great to see you both again stay safe.
Thanks 😊 yeah Wenda gets me to set up the gear outside 15 min before she’ll come and sit outside. Seems to work okay 👍
Cheers Paul and Wenda
Hi Guys, have just discovered your channel & enjoying it. Thanks for the tips for mossie/fly etc. when I’m camping I find the mossie coils useful & when attacked by the midges use Soov from a chemist. Cheers & thanks
Thanks Colin welcome to the channel 👍we actually have a tube of Soov but forgot to get it out lol
Cheers Paul & Wenda
Hi guys. Mostly found in horse supply stores, this product is all natural.
Can be used on any surface including your skin and clothes.
Called natures botanical. Have used this for many years and almost never been bitten.
Made with rosemary and sandelwood
Thanks Allan we’ll have a look for it 👍
Cheers Paul and Wenda
Just another point look for the pump bottle, not cheap at $44. You will be happy you spent the money
16:50 gadgets like that need to be placed upwind and moved around appropriately as the wind direction changes.
Yes definitely. We found that the new little Flextail one works best when hung from the awning rafter
Cheers Paul and Wenda
Love you two ❤
Thank you 😊
Thanks for the info. It was really useful. It would be great if you could list each of the products in the description. Many thanks. Happy travels.
Thanks that sounds like a great idea. I’ll get them listed in the description 👍
Cheers Paul and Wenda
Hi Paul and Wenda, Another great episode. Thankyou for all the good info on the thermocell type products. I will certainly look into which one would best suit our needs. We also use good riddance as my husband suffers terribly from midgie bites. I did come across a very effective product called "midgie magic" by Hidden Valley in Broome for any bites that may occur. Might be worth a try down the track Wenda. Keep up the great work. 🦟🦟
Hi Julia, thank you for your kind words 😊 we have just ordered some midge magic from Hidden Valley. Thanks for the suggestion
Cheers Paul and Wenda
Wondering where you got your photos on your walls from? Love your videos very helpful.
Thank you 😊 we get our decals from Wondermade. www.wondermade.com.au they often have discounts on their website 👍
We update them every year as the grandkids get older.
I saw on the feel-good family. A man tells them old beer, cheap mouth wash, and Epsom salt. Spray your whole area
Interesting combination not sure if I’d ever have any “old beer” laying around lol
Very useful. I find post being bitten paw paw cream works well. Takes itch out of mossie bites. Also good for many other situation.
Yeah some of those types of cream work well. The itch can become so persistent that it keeps you up at night
Cheers Paul and Wenda
Great to see you both back for 2024. Have you tried the old fashioned mozzie coils & how do they compare with the newer electronic & gas powdered repellants? Our tip after being bitten & shredding our legs scratching from Sandfly & Midge bites, a mate in Derby advised applying a layer of SOOZ, which can be purchased from chemists, once dry then apply a layer of normal alcohol based hand sanitiser also rubbing into the red blotches. It was incredible, after a few applications every few hours, the itching went away & redness disappeared after a few days.
Thanks, we haven’t used the coils for years, there is a sense of nostalgia about them 😉
We actually have a tube of SOOV in the cupboard but forgot all bout it. So much to choose from haha
Cheers Paul and Wenda
Great detailed subject, why ruin your trip with bits and stings.🌟
One month at Mullumbimby NSW.....Be hard to take🤠🤠
Yep that’s for sure! Mullum is a great spot, we love it here 👍
Cheers Paul and Wenda
You guys are the best we will be hitting the road in 2025 in our evernew van hope to catch up on the road
Thank you 😊 and congratulations 🎉🎊🍾 we’ll look forward to catching up on the road 🍺
Cheers Paul and Wenda
I was given this recipe years ago by a lady who was a caravaner. Tub of sorbelene cream, about teaspoon of detox depending on the size of your sorbelene cream, plus few drops of pure citronella oil, I usually buy it from chemist. Mix it all together, we find it works a treat. You do smell a bit of citronella but it works
That’s great, there seems to be a few different recipes out there. Some a little bit on the questionable side but that sounds like it would be alright 👍
Thanks for sharing
Cheers Paul and Wenda
Not detox sorry, dettol
@@helenverrall2892 that’s fine we figured that 😉
I've heard that Kakadu is often referred to as "Kakadont" due to insects etc.
Yeah they were pretty savage out there. Never seen so many swarms
When in the Solomon Islands I was told that Vitamin B deterred mozzies, and reduced the chance of getting malaria. They said that the best local source of vitamin B was Sol Brew. The national beer! I'm not sure if the beer stops the bites, or that after enough beers you just don't notice any more. Unfortunately, as I don't drink I wasn't able to test the theory. :)
Haha interesting theory about the beer. Thanks for the vitamin B tip 👍
Cheers Paul and Wenda
I think the saying you are looking for is; "If you think an individual can't make a difference, you've never spent the night in a tent with a mosquito." An African proverb quoted by the Dalai Lama.
Yep that sounds like it 👍thanks
We just purchased the flex tail. Thanks for the discount. We love products that do more than one thing.
@@tracierainey4139 that’s awesome 👍 enjoy
Cheers Paul and Wenda
Where did you get your table from that’s between you both please
We just got it at Bunnings. But they don’t seem to have them all the time
A dr told me in Broome depends on your blood type makes a difference to if you get bitten
I get eaten alive and hubby gets nothing
Yeah that makes sense. We can be in the same place and only Wenda gets bitten. And I don’t even have any mozzie stuff on
Cheers Paul and Wenda
It is one the great mysteries of the world. My husband and I have the same blood type. He is attacked and they rarely bite me. 🤔
@@celiairving6673 well there goes that theory 😂
Hi guys, we were just wondering, what your use of doterra oils was for mozzies and midgies?
We saw them on your table, but you didn't discuss them.
G’day Geoff, we use tee tree and lavender to treat bites and terra armor, citronella & lemon eucalyptus in the diffuser
Cheers Paul and Wenda
Great video, thanks very much. We have just purchased the #flextail and are looking forward to testing. Am keen also to try the creams and spray. Can you advise where you purchased these?
Thanks we’re going to put a list of all the gear in the description. If you don’t see what you want let us know and we’ll add it 👍
Cheers Paul and Wenda
Thanks @@beyondthegreyoz
Try bentonite clay for bites, burns, cuts, grazes. Instantly soothes and heals
Thanks for sharing, just looked this up and it seems to have a lot of uses 👍
Cheers
It's incredible. Up there with aloe and pawpaw cream
Is it true that the flying pests are seasonal and worse at different times? Where and when is best avoided?
Yes it seems so, We also found out midges are worse on a full moon
I heard a fly man on abc radio. He says flies are female feeding for young egg. So when it finds you it keeps coming back, male flies like flowers. Next hippies taught me, mozzie bits, crystal deodorant that you screw out. Condies crystal in its ingredient.
There certainly is a lot of info and treatments out there! Thanks for sharing
Cheers Paul and Wenda
Hi

Melinda and Eric

Cheers Paul and Wenda
@@beyondthegreyoz Thankyou. 🌻 wishing you both. Happy travels.
@@RaisedtoRoam 😉 thanks
I hear mozzies flys and cockroches don't like lemon grass , you could have a lemon grass plant in a pot in kitchen window put in sink when travelling also lemon grass incents
Unfortunately you can't just transport pot plants around Australia. It wouldn't be worth the paperwork.
Yeah lemongrass? Wenda has started growing some lavender and catnip. Apparently they are also good might add some lemongrass to the pots 👍
Cheers Paul and Wenda
@@thisnthat3530 yeah there are a few states that don’t allow you to take plants. Unfortunately when we head there we’ll have to do something with our plants 🥲
