  • In this guide to some of the different styles and types of free camping we head out to the Hunter Valley in NSW looking for places to test out as many as we could while also visiting a few wineries and attractions in the area.
    Come and join us as we try to free camp the NSW Hunter Region from Murrurundi to Broke and check out a few Pub Camps, Council Camps and Bush camp. As usual things don’t always go according to plan but, hey that’s what being a nomad is all about.

    I recon pub stays are great they cook for you have a beer then free out back , if you pay at the caravan park and there not cheap you'll end up at the pub anyway

    • @beyondthegreyoz
      @beyondthegreyoz  2 місяці тому +2

      Exactly! We would've spent the money there anyway and there is a different feel when you staying out the back as opposed to just turning up to the pub 👍

    Another lovely episode. We live in Lake Macquarie and the Wollombi, Broke and Denman area is one of our regular motorcycle routes. We were in Denman for lunch in the little main street just this past week. Heading past there in the van this coming week en route west. Almost too close to home for us 😂😂

      Half your luck 👍it is a great area! Could easily spend a few weeks just in that region. We’re hoping to call into Lake Macquarie next time we pass through

    Great video. You need an anderson connection from your vehicle to caravan charger to recharge the batteries while driving.

      Thank you 😊 we do have an anderson plug. The problem was that we only travelled about an hour so didn’t get enough charge

    When you visited scone, you missed the warbird museum and bent prop cafe which also house the info centre. The stop at Aberdeen has toilets just to highway side of where you stopped. There’s also the Phoenix cafe in Scone, which you would have walked past

    Very informative and helpful video. Using wiki camps is good, but to actually SEE the places and have your commentary ( and shots of the food on the menu at the different places) helps visualise if it would work for me. Definitely going to check out Burning Mountain and Wollombi Tavern for a meal and some Dr Jurds.

    Thanks for another interesting and informative episode 😊 always a great watch. On a side note; I love the photos and quotes you have on the walls around your van, and wondering how they are attached? And where do you get them? Thanks in advance, Cheers

      @beyondthegreyoz  2 місяці тому +1

      Thank you Lynda 😊We get the photos on line from www.wondermade.com.au/ You can upload pics and quotes on to the decals and get them posted. They just stick to the walls and are very easy to remove. We update them every year as the grandkids change so quick. Also they regularly offer discounts of up to 20% so keep an eye out for those

    Loving your videos. I'm about to set out on the road for the first time ever... I have no idea how the free camps, bush camps, pub camps, etc work. Is there a limit as to how long you can stay? I'd like to go to a town, plonk down, setup, have dinner at the local, visit the town and locales, have dinner at home, leave in a day or three ... is that possible? You never mention if there's a limit, and you only seem to stay someplace overnight. For me that's a tad too fast paced.

    • @beyondthegreyoz
      @beyondthegreyoz  Місяць тому

      That’s great to hear about your plans to travel! We love this lifestyle.
      A lot of free camps have a limit of 72 hours some are just overnight and others don’t state a time limit. We have a preference for free camps that are close to town but they are the ones that will have a time limit. Wiki camps is a great app for finding out information on what is available. We are on a free camping journey right now and will include that sort of information, and hopefully answer some of your questions in the next video.
      Cheers Paul and Wenda

    Hi, you mention you struggle to get your batteries charged in bad weather, why not look at getting a dc2dc charger and run an anderson plug from you car and while your driving it will charge via the alternator.

    • @beyondthegreyoz
      @beyondthegreyoz  Місяць тому

      Thanks for the tip we’ll have a look in to that 👍. But the problem could be that we only travel short distances often under an hour.

    Hi just interested in what size ecoflo you were using in this video, it would seem to me to be a bigger version than the one you reviewed.

      Hi Kerry, Thanks for asking, We have reviewed two Ecoflow batteries. The Delta Max 1600 and the "River 2", which is a smaller battery. The one in this video is the Delta Max 1600.
