I’m almost 40 and to this day I still say “Like a glove!” whenever I park my car in a tight space
every. damn. time. lolol. Im also a gamer so the "whats the matter? cant you hit me?!" is one I use alot as well lol
I am 40 and I approve this comment.
Not just parking.. everything.. 😂 like the other day, I drove my forklift through a tight space and when I came out I said "like... a... glove..." ..
In my 40’s and…Same…lol
I'll be 40 in August, but that's none of your damn business and I'll thank you to stay out of my personal affairs.
"If I'm not back in five minutes... Just wait longer" this has been in my vocabulary ever since the movie came out. 😂😂😂😂
"Liar, Liar" is another of Jim Carreys finest roles, you will love it, I promise.
Exactly, you still have the craziness, but then he shows he can be serious with a remarkable range of emotions.
#LiarLiarForAddieCounts
Liar Liar is his best comedy.
"OH COME ON!!!" **bursting his drink**
My favourite scene of the movie.
I would also recommend "The Truman Show", "Bruce Almighty", and "Dr. Seuss' 'How the Grinch Stole Christmas'".
"...Yes, Satan? Oh I'm sorry, sir. You sounded like someone else."
*Hahaha!*
Ding ding
My brother and I quote that to each other constantly.
Hector Salamanca from Breaking Bad
one of my top fav and quoted sayings lol
"If I'm not back in five minutes...just wait longer!"
Jim Carrey's police officer friend is 80s rapper Tone Loc, famous for wild Thing and Funky Cold Medina.
1994 was the perfect year for Jim Carrey. Being Ace Ventura, Lloyd Christmas and The Mask has been his best performances ❤😊
Stanley Ipkiss. Respect the character too not just the mask.
@@eddieanderson9399 "Back off fatty..."
I just had to do that. 😄😄🤣🤣
Thank God he got rejected from SNL. He went to "In Living Color" instead, which coincidentally wrapped up in 1994... and the rest is history
Not bad for Courteney too. Ace and Friends.
Did you notice that the actress who plays police captain Lois Einhorn is Sean Young? She played the android Rachael in the movie "Blade Runner". (She's also in the Kevin Costner/Gene Hackman thriller "No Way Out")
No, she didn't notice. Because she's not 64.
Does he still tuck?
@@prescottlange But she might have just posted a reaction video to Blade Runner this week....
@@prescottlange wtf does her age have to do with it? she just posted a reaction video to Blade Runner less than a week ago. Schmuck.
@prescottlange you the twat that's been hassling her for months
The breaking bad actor. Tio. He’s looked 70 for thirty years lol.
Same with Maggie Smith
he was 55 here. maybe 54. its pretty crazy how old he looks.
Ding ding ding 🛎️
yes, satan?
Fun fact, Jim Carrey is a huge Cannibal Corpse fan, this move was shot before they were known by everyone and it's because of Jim they are in this move, he pretty much sponsored their start (The metal band playing)
18:52 - **Addie in shock and at a loss for words** - "I never expected that sentence to come out of your mouth" 😂😂😂
Just another Tuesday if you work in a alzheimers facility lol
Finkle's mother is the librarian from Ghostbusters.
And the director of the psychiatric hospital is the mayor from the first two Ghostbusters!
I saw this when it first came out. I asked a guy I knew who was a UPS delivery guy about the opening segment when Ventura doe all those things to that package. I said " admit it, you've fantasized about doing that right? He replied "you better believe it, we all have!"
Fun-Fact: there IS a Deleted Scene in which Ace pretends to be the "Dolphin Trainer!'🐬It was included in the Original VHS Release but can still be Viewed here online...😁👌
The VHS cut of Ace Ventura & Dumb And Dumber are the ones I remember. I genuinely think they are better than the theatrical.
I die a little inside every time I see the version of this movie without thar dolphin trainer scene ha. As a kid it was my favorite scene and in my mind it was the only version that existed 😂
It breaks my heart that the scene in which he does act like a dolphin is only in the TV edit. It's one of my favorite moments of the movie and no reaction channel has seen it 😢
Wait, what? Is that really cut out of the movie? When did that happen? Is it the whole Heinsketz Velvet scene?
@@Gilgie101yup
I never knew about it until I was an adult and just happened to see it on youtube
@@Gilgie101It was never in the theatrical version.
@aerthreepwood8021 While I did see the movie in the theater, I have no memory of thinking the added scene on VHS was new. I did call that Einhorn thing during the hip gun scene. My girl laughed when I said it, then later looked at me and said, how did you know?
@@Gilgie101 Yup, that's the TV edit only. I saw it on TV a ton as a kid, but it's not in the theatrical, unfortunately.
Mrs. FInkle was in Ghostbusters and Einhorn was played by Sean Young, who played Rachel in Bladerunner.
And the shady acres doc was the mayor in Ghostbusters
I seriously don’t understand how you weren’t crying with laughter throughout this movie Addie. Even to this day, just like when I saw it in the theater, I laughed so damn hard at certain scenes! He’s so silly but so damn funny, ESPECIALLY the psychiatric hospital scene! 😂😂😂
Jim Carreys early comedies made him movie famous but his non comedic movies showed how good of a actor he is outside comedy.
comedy is harder bro
What I love about Ace, is though he acts crazy and does mess up. He is also a very good detective, and he really loves animals. You know, when it's cold enough. lol
"He's looking at your ring, not your thing, I promise!" Addie has the loveliest way of words even when the subject can be qualified as potty humour.
Hey Addie, shout out from your favorite US Marine! Loved your reaction to this! I really wish you left this epic line in the review! "Your gun is sticking into my hip!" 23:32 The way that line comes back at you.... Just so underrated and epic! ❤🤍💙💛
"Holy testicle Tuesday" must have been a premonition.
LUL
The dog-napper at the beginning of the movie is Randall "Tex" Cobb. He was also in Raising Arizona, another really good movie by the Coen brothers.
Courteney Cox is also in a Bruce Springsteen music video; 'Dancing in the Dark'. 😛
Tex was also in a hidden gem of a movie called Diggstown with James Woods. LOVE that movie!
"Tex" Cobb also played Sailor, a crazy biker type (what an acting stretch 😉) in "Uncommon Valor".
He was also a professional boxer who once faught Larry Holmes. Tough guy. Got the crap beat out of himself, but wasn't knocked out. Though the ref (Richard Steele) did stop the fight after Cobb ate about a dozen punches without landing any of his own.
And he was in The Golden Child, with Eddie Murphy.
I'm a huge Dolphins and Marino fan, I LOVED this movie.
In January 1994 came Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, the goofy comedy that put Jim Carrey on the map; was lucky enough to see it in the theater and fans were rolling with laughter…really miss those days 😂
I saw this on an Army base and to this day this is still the loudest audience I have ever been a part of.
No, Ace came out in February
@@nsasupporter7557 you’re right…saw it for my brother’s birthday which is in January, so forgot the exact release date; good catch
@@vudujl83 February 4, 1994 😉
The day before my 7th birthday
@@vudujl83 and by the way, it wasn’t a “goofy comedy.” To he honest, I’m sick of people referring to it as that. Ace Ventura was something special… it was amazing entertainment. If you wanna watch “goofy” watch Naked Gun
There are various cultural references in the movie.
The "Captain Stubing" was a reference to the TV series, "The Love Boat".
The song "The Crying Game" that plays during the reveal is from the movie of the same name.
I always thought it was actually Gavin Macloud. It’s not?
@@Filard25
I did not mention the actor's name.
@@ITPalGame I know. I was asking if you knew who it was. Sorry for not being clear
@@Filard25 I could only find out that it was not Gavin MacLeod. But I couldn't find out who it actually was.
I had a long day at work. It was fun to watch you, watch Ace Ventura. Your reactions were fun to watch.
Im 43 and as a kid with autism and social anxiety problems, this movie (Jim Carrey in general) helped me so much to build a sense of humour that really helped me eith my confidence! Without Jim's movies, I think id have struggled so much more.
13:33 the whole ring retrieval montage is the hardest I've laughed in a movie... just comedic gold 😂😂😭😭
"He's looking at your ring, not your ding!" 🤣
I say like a glove every time I go through something difficult and come out on top.
you do that
You'll love the Rhino scene in Ace Ventura When Nature Calls 😂
Double dose of Sean Young for Addie this week.
Ayo
My favorite part of this reaction is when Jim Carrey is checking out the players hands and you said "He's looking at your ring, not your thing". That had me rolling 😂
Thanks for that reaction
To this day, I still have the “Ray Finkle Stats” rant memorized when Ace visits his house. Can’t keep track of my day to day life sometimes, but I can remember that. 🤷🏼
Please also watch part two. It's even better.
It’s in the bone..
Addy may need to see Cliffhanger first...
Rays mom is the same actress who played the librarian from the opening of ghostbusters
As soon as I saw the notification for this I immediately clicked on it. Jim Carrey is hilarious and I'm so glad you gave this a watch. You have to watch Liar Liar, it is my favorite of all the Jim Carrey movies.
Liar Liar is hysterical! One of Jim's best.
Eternal sunshine of a spotless mind. Jim Carrey drama. It’s incredible
Jim Carrey Forever ! ♥️♥️♥️🇨🇦🇧🇪🇨🇦🇧🇪
Tank you Addie !
One of my favorite movies of all time! You were clearly having tons of fun with this one 😄
I was working at a movie theater when this came out. I've seen the ending like a million times and the "yeah....BLOW ME." is still hilarious.
Hi Addie ,i have just come across your channel and I'm happy that I did,i love this movie and loved the reaction , I can't wait see what else you have reacted to 👍
The shark scene is double funny when you consider that the shark recognized Ace as a friend and was only playing, but it's a shark and sharks are inherently dangerous. That's why Ace wasn't hurt, but his clothes were shredded.
Great pick. Jim C, will go down in cinematic history along with Jonathan Winters and Robin Williams.
Compliment- you always have such great energy, you make these fun. I appreciate that you keep the language “clean” as well.
Let's give Addie a round of applause for officially completing the Jim Carrey 1994 Trifecta with Ace Ventura: Pet Detective (1994). 👏👏🎉🎉 As you end this Jim Carrey trifecta, you just started ANOTHER Jim Carrey trifecta. But this time, it's the Jim Carrey/Tom Shadyac Trifecta. Ace Ventura director Tom Shadyac would collaborate with Jim Carrey again in the Universal Pictures movies Liar Liar (1997) & Bruce Almighty (2003), which I now suggest to you. #MoreJimCarreyForAddieCounts
Me and my Buddy from work always ask eachother "if we have anymore of that gum" and always respond with "That's none of your damn business" 😂 we say it so serious too, that anybody who doesnt know us, is just like, what? Its most fun when the higher ups pay a visit and they're just shaking their heads 😂
You have to watch the sequel next!!
Ace ventures when nature calls thr sequel is also hilarious 😂
9:42 actually ace says thank you because he asked if greg was there and the guy was headbanging the yes sign.
More jim carrey on the channel please, maybe check out one of his more serious roles next like the truman show or eternal sunshine of the spotless mind, both great movies.
I grew up in south florida, my dad took me to a Marlins game at Joe Robbie Stadium (what it was named at the time) and he and my brother went to a Superbowl there once, I've also been to the place used for the Billionares Party, it was playing host to a Renaissance Fair that we took a field trip to (which got rained out), the waters edge where they where getting out of the car is actually the rear of the property relative to where the street is, but i've stood on those same steps and seen the water features where he jumps the railing.
Also my oldest sister works with kids with Autism and got to spend a day hanging out with Dan Marino, she was also in extra in a scene for the movie Cape Fear.
I never picked up on the Shady Acres name until now. Obviously named after director Tom Shadyac.
"Sounds broken."
"Most likely sir. But I bet it was something nice though."
It's become one of my favorites. One of the few "dry humor" lines.
This was a massive sleeper hit. Jim Carrey had some TV popularity, the one white guy on an all black comedy show, but it was very rare to make the jump from TV to movie success.
10:41 - "Hi Captain Stubing. How are Gopher and Doc? Permission to come aboard sir?" - This is a reference to the comedy/drama show The Love Boat, which aired from 1977 to 1987. It was set on a cruise ship, with a new bunch of guest stars each week. The captain was a bald man in a white uniform, similar to the butler who answered the door. Gopher was the nickname of the ship's purser, and Doc was the nickname of the ship's doctor.
Gavin MacLoud was also in 'The Sand Pebbles' with Steve McQueen, and 'Kelly's Heroes' with Clint Eastwood.
My brother and I were 11 in 94 and loved this movie it was hilarious we are 41 now
Three movies in the same year and all iconic. Wild indeed.
True facts: Hector Salamca had a speaking role in Ace Ventura Pet Detective
‘The Truman Show’, ‘Man On the Moon’, ‘Cable Guy’, and ‘Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind’ are all really good movies with Jim Carrey that deserve a watch.
I hope you consider reacting to the sequel/follow up to this movie “Ace Ventura: Pet Detective When Nature Calls”. Love and enjoy your UA-cam channel Addie.
I'm surprised you didn't crack up at the parakeet eating the seeds out of Ace's belly button
During the psychiatric hospital visit, Carrey slammed his face so hard into the bench that he startled most. You can see it before one of the cuts. Usually, such sound effects are added later. But no... that was just him.
The reaction of that doctor always 😆 me
Jim Carrey - "Me, Myself and Irene".
Both Ace Ventura movies, contributed to about 46% of my vocabulary
My favorite part is still 21:47, when the doctor can't stop himself from giggling and you see his shoulders shake
Haha same
Never noticed that before. Too busy looking at Jim Carrey smashing his face.
Jim broke in with his physical comedy. But, even in a more serious role like Eternal sunshine, he was excellent.
Oh, and I believe the scene after he figures out that Einhorn is Finkle is a spoof of The Crying Game.
Still wild that Cannibal Corpse is part of this movie.
This was originally a serious movie but when the CEO of Morgan Creel Productions wanted a mass appeal comedy Tom Shadyac who had been a joke writer for Bob Hope pitched rewriting the script which Jim Carrey was later a part of. They only spent $15 million and it had mixed critic reviews but with his role on In Living Color and the release of Dumb and Dumber and The Mask in the same year fans were hooked.
Other fun things they let Jim Carrey do anything he wanted which if you see gag reels from other movies was something that stuck. Rick Moranis was the first actor they wanted for the role and they also considered Alan Rickman.
Me, Myself, and Irene is probably my favorite Jim Carrey movie. Liar, Liar is also fantastic. Then for a completely different role, The Truman Show.
11:00 I totally forgot Udo Kier was in this movie. I acted once in same film with him.
Kissing a man was an absolutely appalling and dreadful thing that happened to poor Ace. It was a horribly gross and horrendous moment for him .
It wasn't until years later that I realized before that before his big 3 movies in 94 & the In Living Color series the first movie I seen Jim Carrey in was the 89 film Earth Girls Are Easy Staring Geena Davis, Jeff Goldblum, Damon Wayans, and in an 85 vampire comedy Once Bitten.
Ace Ventura's landlord was in the movie Scarface (1983), as a bad guy of course!
I never knew they all came out the same year! Holy cow Carrey must've been walking on water that year!
He was still trying to get his big break out roll from being on In Living Color (and a number of bit parts here or there). So he filmed these hoping one would take off - not knowing all were going to be absolute smash hits! He was signed to Dumb and Dumber right before this came out. The studio knew if they waited until after this was released, his asking price would skyrocket. Which it absolutely did.
"Hi Cpt. Stubing! How are Gopher and Doc..?" xD
I love your theme music. It reminds me of shopping at Kmart with my mom in the 70s.
1994 was jam packed with hit movies. This is also the same year as Shawshank Redemption, Forrest Gump, Lion King and Pulp Fiction.
Someone else may have already said it but if you've not seen them, "Me, Myself & Irene" and "Mister Poppers Penguins" are also worth a watch👍
It makes me giggle that most reactors miss the "Captain Stubing" joke. Captain Stubing, of "The Love Boat", a 1970s romantic drama series about a cruise ship. Doc and Gopher were the ship's doctor and purser, respectively.
Ace is saying Ron Camp's butler's uniform looks like Stubing's uniform.
The Lieutenant in this movie is the actress Sean Young, which, you just saw in Blade Runner as Rachel. lol
10:41 That was actually Captain Stubbing From Love Boat
It's true, he's known for his physical comedy roles, but he did some really good dramatic roles, too.
The Majestic, from the director of The Shawshank Redemption and The Green Mile.
Man on the Moon, a biopic of comedian Andy Kaufman.
"He's looking at your ring, not your thing. "
Followed by "Oh, Oh!" And the pearl clutching is probably the most hysterical response you've ever had, Maddie. Bravo. Bravo.
Next up, LIAR, LIAR.
I can't wait. Keep going
not sure if you recognised her, but Sean Young (Lois Einhorn) was also in Blade Runner which you reacted to a few days ago (or, uploaded the reaction video to a few days ago anyway)
Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind for a different Jim c
Shady Acres is a play on the director’s name, Tom Shadyac.
I will NEVER forget where I was and what I was doing the day that I found out that Finkel was Einhorn.
Boy, I feel like it's unwise to mistreat a dolphin. They're tricky enough to get you into the water with them, and once they do, they can really kick the crap out of someone. 600-800 lbs. of solid muscle, and skilled at using that nose to punch sharks in the gills, not to mention possibly just deciding not to let you reach the surface.
That article Ace read is real. There really was a Lois EinHorn who disappeared never to be seen again in Florida.
Hilarious film. I used the 'like a glove' quote just the other day, lol. The second film is great too
My favorite Jim Carrey films not yet in your video archives are Liar Liar (1997), The Truman Show (1998), and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004).
Of all the crazy and impossible things to happen in the movie, the part I have to suspend my disbelief the most is the idea that all those people would regularly wear their conference championship rings
That only just occurred to me while watching this reaction. Surprised I didn't notice it before.
The Majestic is a movie where Jim Carrey plays it straight. It’s really pretty good.
And police captain played by Sean Young - Rachel from Blade Runner =D
I can't wait for you to watch the second ace Ventura movie 😂 it's just as wild as the first
Captain Steubing, Gopher and Doc are characters in the 80s tv show Love Boat.
Addie and Ace Ventura? Yes, please.
Your facial expressions are priceless. 😄
You definitely should do Ace ventura when nature calls
