They have the "Military Brotherhood" thing. I was an MP from 80-92. One of the units I was with had the greatest group of guys in it. 40 years later the 5 of us still keep in touch.
You can definitely feel reacher is a little more unhinged this season and emotional. You can tell the time away and his friends being killed is making him more aggressive with people
Naw, I still remember last season he blasted two dudes in the back with the Desert Eagle basically out of convenience, then FOLDED their limbs to get them to fit in the Bently trunk, more unhinged and emotional than that? That's kind of aggressive.
There is a lot going on in Reacher's head that you get in the book but not in the series. Yes, knowing members of his team are dead is one of them, but, the other thing is that after meeting with the others, he sees how they all have a career, family, success, money... in whatever combination... and he... he has a toothbrush. He goes through a mild existential crisis in his head over it.
@RobertMorgan Nah, as was previously posted, there is a great deal of internal dialog that's lost. You are correct; Reacher shooting them in the back was purely convenience. Easier than engaging. And, well, the Bentley trunk just wasn't designed to accommodate two unbroken humans. But Reacher wasn't being emotional or aggressive, merely practical.
It is actually mentioned in the book that this season is based on that Reacher is not a fast runner, and that Neagley leaves him in the dust every time they have to run. It's mentioned several times, and is practically a plot point. So, I don't think they are worried about him looking slow, he is in the source material.
As a runner, makes all the sense, I take one look at that dude and my choices narrow down to I can definitely distance outrun him, but if not handgun...
I'm surprised you glossed over the line from Robert Patrick about not knowing Sarah Connor, throwback line,Patrick was a Terminator...ahhh ok, got in the recap ,😅
One of the funniest things about this show is that Reacher constantly kills people who would be more valuable alive to get information out of 😂It's almost like he can't help himself, and I love it.
In the novels, Reacher makes a point, multiple times, of saying how much he hates knives. In Gone Tomorrow, one of the best fights scenes of the whole series is Reacher against someone with a knife. One where he gets hurt more than most other fights.

@@convecks9476 Yeah, I have. Unfortunately, Bad Luck & Trouble is the only one that focuses on the whole crew. There are a few with Neagley, though. Without Fail is awesome - with Reacher and Neagley trying to stop the assassination of the vice-president. Night School, that's a flashback story where they investigate a crime on a base in Germany. The Enemy is another flashback to his army days, and it's fantastic.

He also hates punching people because of the risk of breaking his hand, and I LOVE how they implemented that in the show. He rarely punches someone. It's either a kick, a forearm, a slap, a headbutt.... Lmfao. Anything but a regular punch.
Something I dont think anyone has caught yet, each season Alan Ritchson has had a former Smallville costar on Reacher. Kristin Kreuk (Lana Lang) in season 1, and Serinda Swan (Zatanna) now in season 2. Now if he can get Erica Durance (Lois Lane) for season 3 he can continue the tradition. I doubt they'd want to use Allison Mack (Chloe Sullivan) after her legal troubles. As for Reacher & Dixon pairing up so quickly, remember that they've known each other for 6+ years, where Reacher only knew Roscoe for less than a week. So I wouldn't say its fast at all, just the opposite in fact. Great reactions guys, keep it up.
Like Smallville, Reacher is shot in Canada which means that they have to use some Canadian actors. Kristin Kreuk and Serinda Swan are Canadian and so is Erica Durance so it’s possible she could show up later!😊
Dixon and Reacher have had that romantic tension since they grouped up. But Reacher understands that you could compromise critical thinking if he starts sleeping with someone who is lower in hierarchy and at the same time is on his team.
Dixon had the hots for Reacher from day 1 when he put the team together and Reacher was the same. He isn't the type of guy to say "no" without a moral, ethical reason. That reason was he was her commanding officer at that time. So, yeah, first chance they got, bang time. In the book, they at least tried to hide it from the others.
@@mgass1354 Yeah, I saw that. My point was he was saying Reacher got together pretty quick with Dixon, but with Roscoe, he only knew her for less than a week. I didn't doubt that him & Dixon would've gotten together sooner than they did. But in comparison to Roscoe, him & Dixon ended up taking ages to get together.
Reacher wanders for two reasons that are obvious but may never be spoken directly: 1) he knows how big imposing and memorable he is, aka he knows hes a moving target due to his size, and its easier to catch a target as huge as him if he stays in one place instead of moving around consistently. 2) his mother said to use his strength to help people. Reacher is neurodivergent, maybe on the Autism spectrum, which is why he is not only direct but literal in what he asks and tells. he cant help people he meets in the world who would need someone as big strong skilled and unafraid as him to help them if he stays in one place. If he stays in one place, hes afraid he wont do what his mother always told him to do (to help those who'll need it, even if they cant/work ask).
Reacher is heavily autistic-coded. Being a loner, his direct communication, not checking in on his friends often and his attention to detail are just some things we autistics have in common.
Also in the books, he apparently has a perfect mental clock so he always knows exactly what time it is. That might not be an actual thing autistic people do, but it's exactly the kind of fictional, savant autistic trait an author would put in.
I have been saying this to everyone since I watched the first season. It's the most I've seen myself in a character in a long freaking time. There's just so many traits in common.

But being a loner, being direct/mean when you don't mean to be and don't realize it, struggling to build and maintain relationships, constantly bringing up the same thing over and over as almost an obsession (like the animal feed in season 1, even though it ended up being important to the story). Reacher in this characterization is the definition of If he wanted to, he would. He does nothing he doesn't want to, and everything he does, so if he's not doing something you just have to trust he doesn't want that and respect that decision. Look at the dude, ain't no one making him do anything he doesn't want to do, so you have to conclude that whatever he's doing is exactly what he WANTS to be doing, especially someone as qualified as him, he could literally be doing anything he could want to do anywhere and be highly successful. So whatever he's doing is what he wants. He lives as a straight-up drifter, so that must be what he wants. If it wasn't, he would not be doing it.
I concur, Alan Ritchson did not need to bulk up more to play Reacher, he was already perfect, the added muscle and weight makes him slower and less agile. I laughed at the inside joke about Sarah Connor, and something that stood out to me in this episode was the contrast of him getting together with Roscoe that was tender, and with Karla it was very much 2 people who had the hots for each other previously and just now going for it. That tool is a trowel.

I know this is random but as a former vet tech there was a show called something like “Life after Humans” which documented if humans just suddenly disappeared. And the pets trapped inside houses without their people faired particularly badly. The ones that had access to the outside could at least find water and forage for something to eat. Spoiler alert: still didn’t fare well super long but better than the ones trapped inside.
It's Possum Kingdom by the Toadies. 2nd biggest band out of D/FW besides Pantera. Btw they mention James Barr in that scene. He's a suspect in a mass shooting from the original Reacher movie with Tom Cruise.

So, the series is speedrunning the first half of the book. I'm not surprised given the first half of the book wasn't very cinematic with action. That's why the ATM scene added him stopping a carjacking; not in the book and gave a fight scene in the episode. The series for the last 5 episodes will focus more on the second half of the book; more action.

It takes a bit of the fun away when you discover what a nice guy Robert Patrick actually is. The guy works with anyone and always delivers. I caught him on InsideofYou and it was enlightening.
Yeah, the airbag thing was a bit of artistic license. With the seatbelt off it would take an impact of about 10-12mph depending on the model into a solid object to set off the airbag, around 16mph of the seatbelt is on. Nobody can kick that hard without painting a foot on a car and crashing it into the other vehicle.
The actor is actually only 6'3, my height. They have him playing 6'5. The way they play it up is to cast shorter actors around him to make him look bigger. He talked about it in an interview.

Loved your guys reactions. Nikki and her no filter always makes me laugh. But Steven in this one kills me. Like I know Alan is big guy, but hearing Steven even be like he is BIG guy..makes me smile and Steven is pretty strong guy himself. I absolutely love Season 2 so glad you are enjoying it.
Nikki & Steven, the guy who plays Reacher got in shape naturally in Season 1. He went so hard he screwed up his biology. He's so much bigger in Season 2 because he had to go on testosterone from the damage he did pushing his body.
Great episode. I agree with Stephen in that Ritchson looks a lot slower and clumsier and it has to be cause of the increase in mass. I think he may have overdone it a bit. He looks scary I give you that. But the choreography seems a bit dull
Did you notice that when the name John Connor came up to the main bad guy he said never heard of him? He played the Terminator in the 2nd movie coming back in time to kill John Connor. .
This show is NEARLY perfect. The thing about this season that I did not like was the lame ass, lazy writing for the groups “catchphrase!” Seriously......... “You do not mess with the special investigators!” It sounds like whoever was writing that part let their 4 year old kid write that line! 🤨

Great episode. I agree with Stephen in that Ritchson looks a lot slower and clumsier and it has to be cause of the increase in mass. I think he may have overdone it a bit. He looks scary I give you that. But the choreography seems a bit dull

This show is NEARLY perfect. The thing about this season that I did not like was the lame ass, lazy writing for the groups “catchphrase!” Seriously......... “You do not mess with the special investigators!” It sounds like whoever was writing that part let their 4 year old kid write that line! 🤨
