First Time Sleeping Alone In A Survival Shelter Deep In The Mountains

- Deep in the mountains of Scotlands southern uplands lies Clennoch Bothy. Miles from any civilisation, this remote bothy used to be Scotlands most remote sheep farm. I’d be hiking to this shelter via the tallest mountain in the area at 797 metres tall. Hope you enjoy the adventure

Clennoch Bothy is a cold wee bothy especially with no stove for heat, fair play too you pal for staying you must have been cold especially after getting soaked on the way in 👍

Been to Clenoch bothy a few times...great wee bothy but cold with no fire..a spitfire crashed there in that area close to the bothy during the war and the young pilot parachuted onto the hill behind bothy...he was found dead by a sheperd where he landed ...he was only 20 or so years old there is a small memorial on the hillside to the brave lad ...also did you see the wee picture of the wee broon dug called blue upon the wall...always made me laugh...welldone on your adventure young fella😊

That's quite a luxurious bothy compared with some! Shame it has no fireplace, but then you don't need to carry any fuel, I guess. The hot water bottle is a good shout. Please, keep them coming. It's good to see a young person out doing stuff like this. 🙂

Well sorted bothy for sheltering from the elements. I Like the candlesticks🕯no doubt 'liberated' from a local stately home😅I've always found the sound of night-time rain on a roof or window makes for a good sound sleep. all thats missing is a wee stove to take the chill off. But impressed you went well prepared and packed a mini hot water bottle to keep body and soul warmed😊
Pity the squelchy hill top view was misted over, but still making a fine video to enjoy.
Yeh was a shame about the lack of views but still a fun adventure. You’re right about the rain, definitely helps with getting to sleep

If you know that the bothy hasn't got a fire you could carry in a firelog and make a temporary fireplace out of rocks.
Not much heat from them but good for lifting the spirits after a wet day's walking.

@@ScottishSummiteer also, if the bothy has a fireplace but you can only find damp wood, a firelog makes very good kindling.

Yeh I was a bit hesitant about the mattress to be honest but gave me some extra insulation😂😂

Always carry in coal for the bothy tele, if you want a comfy night.
Yeh always a good shout. This bothy didn’t have a fireplace though sadly
